I think people join islam because of those websites, where they tell you what the "real" islam is. I spoke to several muslims and ex-muslims, who tell me that islam has nice scriptures (which they tell you about) and mean scriptures (such as all the anti-jew and anti-christian stuff) that was revealed later, and overrides all the nice stuff. I think this fits in with the theory that some guy (I forgot his name, maybe it was "ali") altered the quran after mohammud died, and burned the originals.

One of Mo's most brutal acts involved a prisoner named Kinana. Kinana was one of the leaders of Khaibar. Mo wanted him to reveal where some buried treasure was hidden. Kinana refused. Mo had him tortured to the point of death, then had him beheaded.
@Benghazison you use the expression PBUH when referring to Jesus and Mohammed and I was wondering if this was exclusive to these two mythical figures, or do you extend it to other mythical figures e.g. Zeus, Poseiden, Horus.... maybe even real people. There is nothing stopping the atheist using PBUH but I must admit it does seem like a completely redundant statement and it would get quite tiring if you were going to spend a lot of time referring to these mythical figures in conversation.

It has been interesting to unwind the PBUH protocol. I surmise we only apply the PBUH in the case of the Abrhamic religions and generally to the prophets of these religions, but not to the Abrahamic spin off's, such as Mormon or for relatives (which does seem a bit stingy, since they actually existed and probably helped you in your life much more than JC)

These prophets are always alone in a cave, woods or wherever because...um..well; that is exactly WHERE God speaks to you. Where else would he? This is the reason for meditation, contemplation, prayer, chants, yoga or what have you. Force the material world out, invite the spiritual in. This doesn't happen easily at a board-meeting, or while you are getting your hair cut or banging your head at a rock concert. I don't see why this is a problem; meditate & you'll understand why.

If he's really all powerful why can't he speak to us regardless of how quiet and contemplative we are? If he does speak to people why does he give such contradictory and vague messages? (you were contemplating right?). Did you notice how what you were contemplating was opened up in a song U heard & again on a sign at the supermarket, & perhaps U went to church where the preacher gave the basically the exact same message; only to open a book a few days later to see the same message yet again. That is 1 way.

I think people join islam because of those websites, where they tell you what the "real" islam is. I spoke to several muslims and ex-muslims, who tell me that islam has nice scriptures (which they tell you about) and mean scriptures (such as all the anti-jew and anti-christian stuff) that was revealed later, and overrides all the nice stuff. I think this fits in with the theory that some guy (I forgot his name, maybe it was "ali") altered the quran after mohammud died, and burned the originals.

@DeistPaladin I'm sorry to say, but I know many people who have converted to Islam and many of those people were Christian Priests. If I may ask where did you get your information? Go to any news channel or any website and you'll see that Islam is the fastest growing religion. How about watching videos for Islam on youtube instead of continuing adverse videos and comments. And if you didn't get anything out of Quran then maybe you need to consult with someone and discuss it to better understand.

@DeistPaladin well you see I personally cannot say because everyone has different reasons and I myself was born a muslim so I unfortunately was not able to see first hand how it felt finding a religion where one could see truth and clarity. I also understand that you are not understanding it so I really feel that you should maybe talk to some scholars or visit WhyIslam.org and clarify your misconceptions. Im not saying that you should convert just learn more about the religion.

It has been interesting to unwind the PBUH protocol. I surmise we only apply the PBUH in the case of the Abrhamic religions and generally to the prophets of these religions, but not to the Abrahamic spin off's, such as Mormon or for relatives (which does seem a bit stingy, since they actually existed and probably helped you in your life much more than JC)

In fact, the Hajj is documented in history as being solely of Arab pagan origin. The history of the Hajj has ONLY a pagan history before Muhammad, this has been proven through Archeology.

Before Islam, pagan Arab women generally enjoyed a respectable status in society, Khadija the first wife of the prophet of Islam, had the right to engage in business and choose or dismiss husbands & participated in public worship. Pre-Islamic Arab society did not have more than one wife & women were equal in treatment & status.
