I cannot be sure if there was a sword and gun on the table but the finger was pricked and it looked like a fairly traditional Mafia cermony with the burning saints etc. This is the genius of the Sopranos. You have to watch the whole thing a couple of times so you can appreciate it.

Bobby and Silvio get shot by members of Phil's crew--Booby dies on spot, Silvio is left in a coma in the hospital (the audience is left unsure whether he will live or die). Tony flees and hides from Phil's crew. After things cool down a bit, unnamed members of the Soprano crew track down and kill Phil in front of his grandkids and wife at a gas station. Within the same week Tony is whacked while eating at a restaurant with his family.
