  • very helpful video, thanks!

  • @ProudRebelCSA No problem at all!

  • How do I just clean the inside of my zune 80GB screen?

  • @gunmen424 You will have to disassemble your Zune to the point where you can remove the front housing, then clean with a microfiber cloth, re-assemble, then your good to go!

  • @RepairsUniverse ok ill try that thanks

  • My zune was in a gel case and it fell on its bottom corner, the screen didn't crack but it stopped working. Sometimes when its fully charged, and I bump it on my palm, it'd show everything as normal but then it stopped and now when its on all it shows it a really dark blue screen, you can't even see it in the light. Music plays normal but I can only shuffle it, do I need to replace the screen? What would you recommend?

  • @ebradahusla Hi, this sounds like a damaged LCD screen. To fix the issue you will need a replacement. You can find these replacement screens at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse There's no chance that any of the components inside could have gone loose? It was a bump/drop from about 3ft high while in a gel case and it used to display normally for a while and then it stopped. It wasn't dropped again. Imma buy the 2 opening tools from your website and fiddle with it for a while before I spend the $44 on a new screen.

  • @ebradahusla Its extremely unlikely a connection as come loose. By what you describe its a typical damaged LCD issue. However check over the connections first if this will put your mind at rest.

  • Hi there, Ive got a cracked screen on the front. Would that be an LCD screen replacement? Thanks.

  • @evodream It is just the outside lens that is cracked? If your image is still ok then its the outside lens which is damaged and you just need the front cover replacement and not the LCD screen.

We have both parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks for that. Screen still works. Appreciate the response. Will take a look at your website. Cheers.

  • Hi There, I was wondering if there are higher resolution screens out there for the Gb Zune, is there? Thanks.

  • @BigCatsWildlife No, you can only use the standard screens in the 80GB.

  • @Atheismrulez thank you very very much :)

  • I was able to open the casing of my Zune 120, but now I'm wondering what screwdriver I should use to remove the screws that are holding the headphone jack assembly. I have a set of screwdrivers but not even the smallest drive works. Any recommendations?

  • @Atheismrulez You need a T4 Torx Screwdriver. You can find these in the Repair Tools section on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.

  • Does anyone know what the battery capacity of the standard 80gb zune is?

I'm considering a hdd upgrade and a battery upgrade simultaneously but i would only conduct these if i can increase the battery life with a new one

  • @Spenk009

    700 mAh, if I'm correct.

  • my zune 120 says it has an error and something inside is moving that leads me to believe its broken.I think its the motherboard. If I change the motherboard will all the songs I had on it be gone?

  • @378523378523 The songs will not be gone. They songs are stored on the hard drive. Not the motherboard.

You can find these replacement parts at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • right, thanks for the video, it was a big help. i just put mine back together and big problem, it error message comes up " please contact support", with the number 5. any idea what to do in this situation? i tried the hard reset a few times

  • @tomas359 5 error is a drive error. Make sure the hard drive is put back correctly and connected properly. If it is and its still not working you may of damaged your hard drive flex cable.

If you need a new one we have these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse i took it apart again and put it back together, still the same problem, the flex cable looks ok and not damaged.

the first time i put it back together, i plugged in the hard drive backwards, could this have damaged it? even though the battery was dead?

  • @tomas359 The cable may of got twisted and cracked. If the cable is connected correctly this is the most likely issue.

  • do i have to put back all the tape back where they came from?!or do i leave it without tape?

  • @08mario510 It will work fine with or without the tape.

  • Not to sound like a troll but....You'd think you would have made a better tutorial by now. I mean, most of the time we can't see exactly what you're doing because your hand is in the way. Not to mention the camera quality. I'm frustrated right now with my Zune as i'm trying to get it apart and I can't figure out how to unclip my hard drive and I can't exactly rely on this video because your hand is in the way.

  • I have this exact same Zune in the video but I don't need to replace the LCD screen, just the glass on the cover...I made the stupid mistake of dropping it face flat on the tile in my house. the LCD inside the zune is just fine but do I still need to take it apart as described in this video just to replace the front glass? thank you

  • @rayna321 You need the front cover replacement. You can find these at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • Do I really have to unscrew the two screws by the headphone jack? I don't have the screwdriver that size

  • @AndrewSinister Yes you do. You will need a T4 Torx screwdriver. You can find them at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • What if i need to just replace the front panel glass, do i still need to go through all of this?

  • @what532 The way shown in the video is the safest way to open the Zune.

  • @ilikeche2 You should be able to pop it out quite easily as shown in the video. If you are having trouble use something stronger like a thin knife or small flathead screwdriver.

  • i got a 80 gig zune from my firend and it has a cracked lcd screen, and a few dings and scratches on the case and a few light scratches on the screen, and for now im just going to send it in for 80$ and the whole thing will get replaced with a refurbished one, but if the only thing wrong with it would only be just the lcd screen then id do it my self for 50$

  • @MustanGT2003 Hi,

We have the replacement lcd screens on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.

  • Lol its nice to know our electronics these days are held together with tape...

  • Another question, i called the zune help because my scroll pad gets locked in one position and the word highlighter on the zune scolls in THAT direction, anyways so they told me that the scroll pad was "disfuntional" or something like so what do i do?

  • On My 80gb Zune like this one in the video, the the lcd protective glass cracked first a while back, just the other day i was listening to music and i dozed off and my zune went under my elbow, Of all sides right?, the lcd side went under my elbow and it cracked the bottom of the screen, since it did that can it mess up the Mother Board? What should i do?

  • @MVLINEMAN Hi, it shouldnt mess up the board. A new screen and your Zune should be like new again.

  • hey dude my LCD dint brake but somting in side of it but i cant c noting i can hear it but i cant c it y plz help me

  • you're screen burnt out, if you can still hear the music and stuff then you need to replace the screen. i just fixed mine today for about 30 bucks, 25 for the LCD and this included shipping, and the rest for a Screwdriver with the T4. instead of the pry tool i used a flathead ffrom a eyeglass repair. btw guy this video worked great!

  • @Garlock009 , hey bro where did u get ur lcd screen at?

  • @MVLINEMAN I got mine off of ebay for like 20, and about your motherboard, no, the motherboard is all the way on the opposite side of the zune and there is a cushion of material between that and the hard drive and the tape. and you could get another button on ebay too. if ya got anymore questions, PM me

  • @Garlock009 thank you bro

  • Apparently the T4 screwdriver doesn't work, what other screwdriver would be better?

  • The T4 is the correct screwdriver for this device.

  • @ya1ya the triwing screwdriver. you can find them on ebay for cheap.

  • How do you replace the LCD on the 120gb Zune cause its not the same way as an 80gb Zune.

  • Yes, the 120GB is similar but a little different. If anything it is actually easier.

We haven't got a video for the 120GB currently but we may have one in the upcoming weeks.

  • Yeah, I would love to see a 120gb video because I need to fix mine...

  • were do u get the tool for the zune plz tell me

  • All tools and parts shown in this video can be found on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com website.

  • Smash your Zune and buy a Zune HD. No buttons! No problems!!

  • how can i get to the screen on my zune. water got in my zune and just need to wipe all the water out to see if it can be fixed by me

  • As far as the tape goes, do i just reapply it when putting it back together?

  • btw zune i guess doesnt want you replacing the 2nd gen batteries. i wanted to change it as well but its all soldered to the motherboard and the wires taped to the battery. its fuckin stupid. but what ever. :(

  • once you see its kinda pulled apart, dig deep and pop off one more clip about an inch down. from that point on you can almost just pull the rest of the clips off by hand(and nails).

    more pro tips:

push screws hard so you dont strip them.

to release the ribbons, its a black strip that needs to be lifted up.

make sure all the ribbons are fully connected.

i didnt mess with the antenna or popped off any screens i just replaced the harddrive, motherboard and battery.
