They might have received fewer votes (and it wasn't as much as a million) but Labour still won more seat across England, even without the Scottish and Welsh votes, because conservatives failed to capture areas in the North and Midlands. Labour would still have won in 2005. More seats victories determine who wins an election, not vote quantity. So to sum up once and for all, Scotland haven't forced you to have anything! Agree ?
I think you will find that in the 2005 General Election, Labour still won 92 seats more than the conservatives. The conservative vote was concentrated in London and the South East, however they failed to capture key marginals in the Midlands and the North. Even if you were to discount the 41 Labour MPs and single Conservative MP elected in Scotland, and the 3 in Wales, Labour would still held 286 seats to the Conservative's 194 . . . .

But even taking oil out of the equation the raw tax take from Scotland at £49bn is only marginally lower than total public spending of £49.2bn. Scotland has a third of the land mass of the British mainland with less than a tenth of the population. This means that services are more costly.

They might have received fewer votes (and it wasn't as much as a million) but Labour still won more seat across England, even without the Scottish and Welsh votes, because conservatives failed to capture areas in the North and Midlands. Labour would still have won in 2005. More seats victories determine who wins an election, not vote quantity. So to sum up once and for all, Scotland haven't forced you to have anything! Agree ?

I think you will find that in the 2005 General Election, Labour still won 92 seats more than the conservatives. The conservative vote was concentrated in London and the South East, however they failed to capture key marginals in the Midlands and the North. Even if you were to discount the 41 Labour MPs and single Conservative MP elected in Scotland, and the 3 in Wales, Labour would still held 286 seats to the Conservative's 194 . . . .
