The information is very good but I disagree with the technique. The hands should rarely if ever cross while conducting. It looks sloppy and it is unneccessary. The baton hand has no wrist flexibility. It looks like he is trying to keep his wrist straight. This is partially why his pattern looks stiff and uninviting.

For me it would be with my right hand because I do the tempo with my left.

@MysteryAndroclese401 - technically, ur supposed to do tempo with your right hand and other motions with your left. that's considered the proper way. i dont really know why but that's what my band director told me because im left-hand and when i first started conducting i cured with my right and he made me stop.

Don't listen to your band director. You use the hand you're comfortable with. [or rather arm] I know a retired band director that's left handed [and still directs the community band that way] and he's awesome. It really doesn't matter. @MysteryAndroclese401 - oh really? then if i choose to major in music in college i might do that. for now im sticking with doing what he wants me to do because i reeeeeaaaallllly want to be drum major next year and if i dont do what he wants that could probably cost me it. but thank you very much.
