  • Making me wish I got a 56 instead of my dc 59 .

  • u look likke kurt cobain!!!

  • where did you get the 57 all i can find are 56's

  • do these sound good with any type of distortion?

  • Awesome playing and a great demo of the guitar. ;-) Thumbs up!

  • Beautiful tones man. My favorite was the start, with "My Favorite Things" what was quite unusual (how many people buy a U1 to play jazz?), but that just proves you can play any style with any guitar. Cheers!

  • Man, you rule.

  • is it semi hollow?

  • @TolikRyumin its hollow

  • where did you buy it? )

  • how much does it cost??

  • Just fantasic! Great sound and great playing!

  • nice cover of "My Favorite Things" at the start - nice playing and a good version.

    I just found a vintage U1 on ebay - it's about $1,000! dang!

  • that playing is just a wonder.

    really nice.

    great guitar.

  • great demo and nice playing

  • Great playing.

  • Thank you for explaining what the 3 position switch does. It's actually the reason I did a search on this guitar and luckily watched your video before all the others.

    Nice playing and tone too!

  • very well done review, great playing.

  • PS.: I also Don't like Che and his fans, but i don't walk around been a preacher just because of that...

  • Why don't you make a video only of the "CHE" poster and this guy go there and talks all this crap in the right place. Dude, People searched for DANELECTRO U1 to get to this video, not for "What Politician shall I admire" If you didn't make that noise about the poster, nobody would even notice. Plus, i'ts the guy's room, He can hang whatever he wants, none of your business... So.. if you don't want to talk abou the guitar, just Be quiet, we are not interested in your Political oppinion.

  • I wish people would stop fixating on the fucking poster and would just actually listen to the review.

Solid playing dude, great review too.

  • i gave this comment a thumbs up i wouldve given it more if i couldve

  • nice playin bro

  • good video.Cool sound. danelectro

  • beautiful playing! what do you reckon, is the Princeton Chorus a good buy?

  • I liked it a lot - actually just unloaded it to make room for an Ampeg Jet. It had a great clean sound and the chorus was to die for. It was just a bit too big and heavy to carry across campus for rehearsals.

  • If we go by the "ordered military actions which directly killed a large number of people" standard, so were FDR, Truman, and Lincoln. Hell, Truman ordered dropping 2 bombs which killed 250k civilians in order to spare 100k American military from a land invasion. Good and bad are usually decided by who wins.

  • There's no way I equate Guevara, Hussein, Hitler, Amin, etc to Lincoln, FDR, Truman. The latter were defending people. The former killed those with opposing views. Read "Exposing the Real Che Guevara" by Humberto Fontova.

  • Nearly four decades after his death, its impossible to avoid the image of Ernesto Che Guevara everywhere from T-shirts to cartoons. Liberals consider Che a revolutionary martyr who gave his life to help the poor of Latin America. Time named him one of the one hundred most influential people of the last century. And a major Hollywood movie is about to lionize him to a new generation.

  • The reality, as we learn from Cuban exile Humberto Fontova, is that Che wasnt really a gentle soul and a selfless hero. He was a violent Communist who thought nothing of firing a gun into the stomach of a woman six months pregnant whose only crime was that her family opposed him. And he was a hypocrite who lusted after material luxuries while cultivating his image as a man of the people.

  • Fontova reveals that Che openly talked about his desire to use nuclear weapons against New York City. Such was Ches bloodthirsty hatred that Fontova considers him the godfather of modern terrorism.

Exposing the Real Che Guevara is based on scores of interviews with survivors of Ches atrocities as well as the American CIA agent who interrogated Che just hours before the Bolivian government executed him.

  • What do you want me to say? More arguments? Look, the I think the guy had genuine sympathy for the lower/middle classes and wanted to make their lives better. In the process of doing that, he ended up becoming worse (in many ways) then the government he sought to overthrow. That's what makes him interesting and a revolutionary icon - he demonstrated the corrupting nature of power. "Forever until victory" - if you pursue victory enough you will be forced to do bad things.

  • Because the answer is never as simple as victory. For me, he represents a reminder. A reminder that eliminating the system isn't the answer. We are all the system. Eliminating it means eliminating each other. Whatever failings the system has are simply extensions of our own.

Or maybe I just got way too obtuse. Point is, he's not my hero. More like a villain I need to be reminded of.

  • No argument from me. You convinced me he was a very admirable man by being corrupt . Anyway, good job with the guitar.

  • @DuoSonicboy

Um, what revisionist history book have you been told to read?

Although FDR was a despicable character, the Imperialist Japanese govt drummed the slogan, "100 Million Will Die for the Emperor & Nation" into its citizens' heads. Men, women, children were ordered to fight to their deaths. Only when two atomic bombs were dropped on Imperial Japan did they realize they had lost.

    Truman saved 100 million+ lives.

    Nice playing, btw.

Your historical knowledge, eh, not so much.

  • @bosszeroboss no, that's completely incorrect, nice try though. the japanese were in the middle of negotiating surrender when we decided to bomb them. typical, the bigmouth american and his imperialist country can do no wrong, cuz' he says so. nice stuff duosonic, don't listen to these half-wits and their history channel revisionism.

  • @DuoSonicboy

    PS.

That other guy was right, Che was a child-murdering coward who threw up his hands and surrendered, and pleaded, "Please don't shoot me; I'll tell you whatever you want to know!"

That was right before he got what he deserved from his good ol' buddy Fidel.

  • @SpikeScannell

Whats wrong with Che Guevara? The man was a hero that stands for humanism!

  • @Hyronimus89

Let me guess, you graduated from a public school, and your friends said, "Hey, this long haired guy on my tee is really cool lookin'! You should go to Khols and get one, too!"

  • @bosszeroboss

Not quite, i'm on college. Studying thing that include history, philosofie, human rights, ets... i know that some disturbed shit happend in Cuba but i also know that Che and Fidel saved lots of people out of the hands of Batista! Che did do good stuf, don't forget the guy was a (almost) doctor.

But hey, you're opinion doesn't need to bee the same as mine and it is not necessary that you go kicking on everyone!!!

  • @SpikeScannell don't tell other people what to do

  • Sounds reeeeal nice! Made me wanna stop working & listen to Cat Power. Thanks! :)

  • wow that really does sound quite tele esk when its in the treble removing position, i say that as i sit here with a tele.

  • very nice guitar!

  • im begging you please tab this out,, VERY nice playing ,, im going to buy a u1 tomorrow

    thanks

  • is this your own composition/rendition?

  • Yeah - it's pretty standard jazz chords re-voiced to use open strings. I learned fingerstyle from playing banjo, so I like drone strings and that open, ringing tone.

  • Dude...what you have is something that one is born with. The magic is within you.

  • Ya'll flatter me too much - gonna get an even bigger head. Any decent sound I get is just the product of 13 years of prioritizing guitar over everything else.

  • My favorite things...Yes

  • Very nice playing and tone. Half the battle, tonewise, is not totally sucking at playing, and you are very good.

I like the sort of "walking from chord to chord" way you play.
