But you yourself are preaching that tradition by insinuating that a "God of love" would somehow conspire with the devil and burn people in an eternal fire. Eccl 9:5, 10 says all the dead are unconscious not burning. The KJ says Jesus was in Hell (Acts 2:25-27)! Obviously, the meaning of the term has changed to meet the pagan tradition of fiery torture. What about the Lake of Fire? Hell is thrown into the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:13, 14, KJ) Hell means the grave thats it.
@rufus566 Jesus spoke more about hell than anyone else in the bible and He told a story---NOT A PARABLE, but a true story that actually happened about a "rich man" who died in his sins and went to hell and was TORMENTED in the flame and was thirsty enough just for ONE drop of water to be put on his tongue and he begged someone to go back from the dead to warn his 5 brothers..you can read the story for yourself in LUKE 16:19-31
Hell is a real place---not a figment of the imagination.

God does not intend for us to go to hell, but we will if we do not accept the great plan of salvation thru the Lord Jesus Christ which IS the Gospel....which means "GOOD NEWS" that a person does not have to go to hell, but have eternal life. I think it bothers me more than it should when he attributes "Hallelujah" to Jeff Buckley. I mean, I know it's a great cover and all, but it's Leonard Cohen's song. It's just been covered by nearly everybody with a functioning set of vocal chords.

But you have to admit, Buckley's version of the song not only pays tribute to a great songwriter and sentiment but elevates it to one that also celebrates the instrument that is the voice and makes almost anthemic. His version is far more fitting a tribute to such an incredible singer like Dio. And had Buckley not covered it, I doubt if they would have sung the song at all..

I watched a few of Westboro's protest of Dio's funeral. What kills me is them getting all crazy about the word Dio meaning God in italian. I'm sure God knows the difference between a name, after all, there's a lot of mexican's named Jesus and a lot of people with the last name of Christ. Perhaps Dio picked that stage name to feel closer to the Almighty, because his music never reflected anything other than a humble man.

Eccl 9:5, 10 says all the dead are unconscious not burning. The KJ says Jesus was in Hell (Acts 2:25-27)! Obviously, the meaning of the term has changed to meet the pagan tradition of fiery torture. What about the Lake of Fire? Hell is thrown into the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:13, 14, KJ) Hell means the grave thats it.

@rufus566 Jesus spoke more about hell than anyone else in the bible and He told a story---NOT A PARABLE, but a true story that actually happened about a "rich man" who died in his sins and went to hell and was TORMENTED in the flame and was thirsty enough just for ONE drop of water to be put on his tongue and he begged someone to go back from the dead to warn his 5 brothers..you can read the story for yourself in LUKE 16:19-31
Hell is a real place---not a figment of the imagination.

God does not intend for us to go to hell, but we will if we do not accept the great plan of salvation thru the Lord Jesus Christ which IS the Gospel....which means "GOOD NEWS" that a person does not have to go to hell, but have eternal life. Hell is not some "pagan tradition" about torment---hell is a real place and so is heaven.
Further, your reference of Eccl 9:5, 10 makes no mention about the "dead being unconsious."

Romans 6:7 says "For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin". When you die the sin you have been acquitted of the sin you committed - because the punishment was already carried out. But you have to admit, Buckley's version of the song not only pays tribute to a great songwriter and sentiment but elevates it to one that also celebrates the instrument that is the voice and makes almost anthemic. One was started with the asassination of the duke ferdinand, i think that's what his name was. 2 was started because Hitler wanted to kill every person that was not following his way of living life. If your dad was Jewish but you were Christian, Hitler would still try to kill you. Unfortunately, some religions promote wars and righteous anger, and some people take that too far.

Id just like to point out the DJ said at the funeral they played Jeff Buckleys song "hallelujah". Jeff did sing it on his Grace album and live often, wonderfully IMO. But, it's not a Jeff Buckley song at all. It was written by Leornard Cohen a good 2 decades before Jeff pulled it out. Many others have covered the song as well. I watched a few of Westboro's protest of Dio's funeral. What kills me is them getting all crazy about the word Dio meaning God in italian. I'm sure God knows the difference between a name, after all, there's a lot of mexican's named Jesus and a lot of people with the last name of Christ. Perhaps Dio picked that stage name to feel closer to the Almighty, because his music never reflected anything other than a humble man.
