  • @ogallmo Ja, okej. Tack så mycket!

  • This is the first time I ever hear the Swedish bagpipes. I didn't know Sweden had its own pipes, that's very cool, nice sound! I'm learning the Highland pipes, just got started, but I admire the instrument in its diverse forms played by different folk across Europe. I like this one!

  • Wonderful!

  • it has a very Scandinavian feel to it :)

  • @PlasticFTW Well, it should have, I guess.

  • i can play the chanter as well but is it very hard to get the drone and chanter going?

  • compared to great highland pipes is sackpipa harder or easier? cus i never managed to learn the scottsh i couldnt get all 3 drones at the same time... is this an incredibly hard instrument without lessons o could i manage? iplay spelpipa irish whistle low whistle native american fute irish flute jotunfløyte and all such and i got very good air control.

  • @maarhoefe You don't have that much use for your good air control when playing bagpipes, since you have an air reservoir between your mouth and the actual pipes. Arm control is more important.

Swedish pipes are easier to play than the highland pipes. The air pressure is much lower - I can play for well over half a minute without filling the bag. The fingering on the chanter is about the same, but less strict than on the highland pipes.

  • @ogallmo do you think i can learn it just by practising alot(and i realy practise up to 6 hours a day) or is a teacher a must(like the scottish bagpipes) i can play the chanter

  • @maarhoefe Yes, most Swedish pipers are self taught like that. There are very few teachers to find. That's what my web site is for. The hard part of learning Swedish pipes is not the actual playing, but instrument maintenance.

  • @ogallmo good cus i dont think there will be a teacher in the netherlands and i never dit well with teachers i usually skip those endless simple practises i just pick any tune i like and slowly learn it note by note until i know it and after a wile i know the instrument so well i can instantly play songs i play irish whistles and i know there sound so well its like whistling myself(without instrument) lik they are my vocal cords and instantly play any tune i hear

  • @ogallmo I agree on that! Tuning the reeds can be a real pain in the a**. But then it's all tuned up - then the fun begins! :-)

Hm.. Isn't there some reeds made out of "plastic" that doesn't need as much maintainance?

And I've heard (from Alban Faust I think) that arabic reed material needs less maintanance than swedish, Is there something in that statement?

  • @maarhoefe you're not supposed to go straight onto the pipes....you're supposed to use a practice chanter! did you even really learn them?

  • can you play a chanter only? i dont have money for a whole set new and can find second hand eve ndamages wouldnt matter to me as lon as it sounds right but anway if ou play only a chanter wil i get the same sound without drone

  • they need a bass drone

  • @apologeticsman There are Swedish bagpipes with deeper drones, nowadays, but the traditional instrument only has a E drone (same E as low E on the chanter).

  • I cant wait to get my own, Ive played guitar forever in deathmetal bands for so long but this type of music has always been my counter balance I am so excited to start learning how to play! (I really need some help with finding good ones lol cause i have no idea where to start :D) CHEERS!

  • @Johannson6990 cheap and good traditional pipes are made by leif erikson he was the man who ressurected the isntrument and he makes em for 3600 crones(bout 360 euro)

  • Thank you. Seth

  • I couldn't find the notation for this tune on your website. Is it there somewhere? Anyways, awesome playing as usual.

  • @texasbagpiper Sorry about that. Now you'll find the music score on the site, under the video.

  • Beautiful, clear, powerful and magical (in the best meaning of the word).

    Thank you so much.

  • Härligt låt. Tack för din kooentar till Baron Barone. Det du har lagt märke till är helt korrekt, flöjten som Rino spelar är tillverkad i Filipstad och den låt vi spelar är en iransk låt med lite svensk folkmusik tauch.

    Kaveh Ghadakchian

  • Ruskigt bra låt. En riktig klassiker.
