  • It's funny cause Linux is actually the best.

  • Hahaha! How did dipshit get here!

  • I want this video on my X810 unit.

  • Your vid is a favorite on Vilnius

  • only hipster fags use a mac, apple has no business being in business.

  • Lol nice to see linux being hated. It saves people who can program from dealing with people who know nothing about os' and how computers work. Oh and people will be venerable to attacks, Lol I'm looking at you windows. And Mac but not so glaringly. Windows still is best for gamers. Mac is best for graphics and web design. Linux and unix flavors are for programmers and hackers who know more about computers. To each his own suits.

  • @Systemerror1607

Actually, Windows is better for both. There's absolutely no inherent advantages to using Macs for graphics or web design. Absolutely none. Their hardware is limited in comparison to a PC, their LED displays are pretty, but can't hold up against Dell UltraSharps or NECs running at 2560x1600 with much higher quality. Linux I'll agree with you there. Excellent for infrastructure. Between Win and OSX however, there's simply no comparison.

  • Ya Linux ain't hard it's easy. See for yourself!

  • @Callum2356 ya. . .. . try xubuntu

  • Noobs, they know nothing about computers

  • Linux Rocks

  • linux aint that nerdy! download the latest ubuntu and see for yourself!

  • 240p. We meet again...

  • Linux looks like Josh Radnor

  • @trollface42 linux looks like a rancor.

  • Oh c'mon Linux fucking RULES!!!!

  • Hot Swap GPUs? Yea if your comp actually supports newer cards. My $1200 Custom tower doesn't.

  • @TheSecretCobra should of bought a mac fag, if u cant buy proper hardware. I RUN GENTOO LINUX CLOWN!!

  • @THUSxFAR WOAH! You Troll! I was supporting Macs! Damn I hate Trolls! I have a decent Tower! I didn't Buy wrong Hardware, the Tower is like 3 years old so it's not compatible with the newest cards. Daaaaaaaaaamn, I hate Trolls. BTW I don't use LINUX because I don't, simple as that.

There is no such thing as "Proper Hardware", that is just made up. Second you assume based on little to no information. My Tower is 3 years old, got it from iBuyPower, still works fine.

  • @TheSecretCobra The thing about trolls - you shouldn't feed them. Let them get disappointed and vanish.

Anyhow, I feel your pain with the too-old-to-upgrade thing. But usually it does work for me, which is one reason I like my PC's. :]

  • @ActionScripter9109 Yea I know, Haters gonna Hate Trolls gonna Troll. My Computer still works just fine, has about 2 years left b4 it's 100% obsolete. I was playing around with OSX Lion the other day and it works really well, I guarantee that all PC-(Nazi)-Fanboy arguments are all about specs, when there much more than just the flat specs of the system.

  • @TheSecretCobra Macs are for people that:

don't know how to assemble a computer

don't know how to make a hackintosh

    don't know shit about linux

    and like to waste money

    That's about it.

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD Not Really, Hackintosh builds are limited to specific hardware, I own a custom tower I built myself and a Macbook Air, I don't care about linux because I don't code in C++, I don't waste money as I would rather have the base Macbook Pro/Air instead of my previous $800 HP, that was defective b4 it left china.

  • @TheSecretCobra you still have yet to say a single advantage to using apple.

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD Pretty sure Macs and Windows or custom based systems have pros and cons. If you have never had extensive experience with both platforms then you cannot understand both. If you want full control over your system and accepting risk then that is your choice, as with my custom system. Apple's hardware is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Both systems can co-exists, and I really am tired of these fan-boy arguments that consist of nothing more than ignorant, Blind Hate

  • @TheSecretCobra you still have yet to actually give any factual evidence. I can deduce whether or not a linux distro is worth noting based on what it entails. You, like every single mac fan-boy, are still hiding behind your "you need to try it" veil. If you want a simplistic OS that is hardly compatible with anything use ubunto, if you want something more complex and versatile use arch. OSX however is overpriced and is configurable in hardly any respects.

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD lol, not a mac fan-boy, you need to stop trolling. You realize that Open GL is a Superior platform. OSX is a great OS, the OS is not overpriced it's $30 per upgrade. Macs, and Mac Hardware is not overpriced, it's proprietary so it's more expensive. Overpriced refers to something exactly the same but priced higher. I can run SC2 on a Mac, but if I want to run Unreal3 theres a problem right? Wrong, BootCamp is 100% Free and runs windows just fine.

  • @TheSecretCobra You can create a hackintosh for less than a mac that runs exactly the same. Even if some hardware is restricted it is still fully possible to do it for far less.

As for your mom being unable to utilize a simple machine ubuntu would work fine, and Windows7 isn't rocket science. What is she doing anyway? checking her e-mail and using MS word?

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD Ok You do realize that the hardware of the system determines it's capabilities. Hackintosh builds only work with specific and sometimes inferior hardware. An iMac with a 4-core-i7 is better than a Hackintosh with a core2duo. Also my mother is very tech savvy and has used windows for years. She wants something rock-solid that is more stable. For her simplicity is what she wants as do I with a laptop. You are just ignorant and obviously have nothing more than hate to offer

  • @TheSecretCobra

The fact of the matter is that I could build a hackintosh for cheaper than an imac with better hardware. And if she's tech savvy in the least she'll understand that ubuntu is much more simple and reliable and stable than OSX.

    ad-hominem ad-hominem

  • @TheSecretCobra again where is your info sourced from that Windows is as unstable as you make it out to be?

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD When it comes to my custom tower, or another computer for a specific task or reason, I want full control over the build. For someone like my mom who doesn't, an iMac would suit her great. A Macbook Air has great performance, can dual-boot windows 7, and is great on the go. The specs are fine for the unit. When was the last time you have seen a laptop with 100% customization anyway? You are trying to compare different philosophic ideas in computing.

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD You strike me as a PC-NAZI-FANBOY, spuing Blind Hate about something you obviously no nothing about. I am not a fan-boy, more of a neutral party who looks at pros and cons rather than automatically favoring 1 side over the other.

  • @TheSecretCobra You still haven't given a single reason why mac is good at all and that is why I am classifying you as a mac fanboy, because just like them you fail to give a single reason as to why apple is a good company or why their products are at all good.

  • @SuperFREEXBOXLIVECOD The Macbook Air will boot in 12-15 seconds. Macs are more reliable. OSX is more stable than windows. It is cheaper to upgrade OSX. Better customer support. Virtually no Fail-Rate for systems. Just because models are updated deos not make previous ones obsolete. I have friends that have working PowerMac G4 that are just fine, my Pentium 4 crapped out years ago. I could go on but I am getting tier of feeding trolls. I feel like I am running a Zoo lately.

  • @TheSecretCobra Where are you sourcing your info that macs are more reliable and more stable than windows? It isn't cheaper to upgrade OSX because OSX is the only OS that requires money to update. And I never said anything about outdated models, but the fact that they're selling outdated hardware for more money than newer hardware is absurd.

  • copy

  • Hey don't talk shit about Linux. It keeps my ass nice and clean after a good shit.

  • PC is not even an operating system. How can you compare pc's with mac and linux wich is both operating systems and linux can run on both of them.

  • GEE-ZUS

  • is it just me or does linux have a boner?

  • @MrKillertube the "D" in KDE stands for dicks.

  • When was the last time my PC froze?

  • BEST LINE EVAR

    When did dipshit get here?

  • and funny as shit..as the mac guy in this video ends up with the child molester * thank all that is sane that fag is dead* 's one glove thing going on.LOL. and yeah..MY first pc a Dell 100d smartstep.did RARELY suffer from a driver crashing in xp 32 bit. since thing ( more than 10 years ago..) i've custom built my own pc's and NEVER had a problem unless I was learning something through trail and error like the first time i tried overclocking.

  • Where's your sandybridge Mac?

  • i dont care how Linux looks like in these vids, its still funny xDD

  • @91jmda stop checking out his tightly compressed .tar.gz package.

  • @TrueNuff gunzip package, tar xf package, ./package XXXXD

  • lulz.

PC and MAC left Linux alone.

  • A good scene would be one where PC breaks his pencil. He just takes his pencil from his pocket, throws it away, gets a new one and puts it in his pocket.

The Mac would also have a broken pencil, but it would be glued to hit jacket, which are glued to his pants, which in turn are glued to his shoes with socks glued-on. He'd change all of his clothes and pay a lot of money :D

  • Only idiots don't know how to get proper drivers

  • @anon7320 dont forget you just like everyone else was once a COMPUTER NOOB. meaning you didn't know shit about how to search for things, including update drivers for your hardware. thus only IDIOTS forget to be humble enough to THINK about what (want-to-be) constructive criticism they want to give and instead give a random, pointless, assuming insult to the general crowd. wow I think i know who's done that before. EVERY PRESIDENT OF THE divided states of america. Barry Soetoro now included

  • @chronofusion You have to be pretty silly to not know how to get proper drivers. I've always gotten the right drivers even back when using '98 when I was 7. These days it's ridiculously easy. What's the problem? A little google search too tough? Not insulting the general crowd, just people that constantly need to be spoon fed everything, and when it's given to them, they still can't figure it out. Oh well, more work for us. And I couldn't give two shits about the u s of a. HAVE A NICE DAY!! =D

  • @anon7320 NERD!

  • @1wildturk1 lol and you're a turk :P

  • when did dipshit get here?

  • The glove just proved MAC is gay

  • @f3l0ny33 How old were you, 12?

  • plug 'n' play...how did they know my street name?

  • who wants 2 run windows xp on n mac when u can just get windows 7 64-bit?!

  • Why is Linux always a nerd? >.> is there a video that shows Linux as a cool person?! >..> (proud user of Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS)

  • @91jmda Nope. It's a good OS, just a little... nerdy.

  • @Theevilonemwhaha Linux isn't nerdy, have you tried an OS called FreeBSD? now THAT'S nerdy

  • @91jmda can't say i have. I'll take a look

  • @91jmda because while you were learning how to use linux, everyone else was getting laid.

  • @TurKdiRty I already got laid dipshit

  • @91jmda

    lol nice one :P

  • mac can't put on a glove

  • Linux is finnish! YAY

  • where's dos in this

I know it's old but it started computers.

I say they should have some really old dude in a wheel chair be dos and start bragging about history of like "when I was young" crap like that.

Then one of them should point out that you have to use an emulator to use dox anymore, then have mac say that you have to use that same emulator to run windows 1,2, and 3.

I think it would be funny

for those who don't know the dos emulator is called "dosbox".

    have a good one.

  • you can upgrade a mac pro

  • @EmoticonMayhem and it still sux

  • @EmoticonMayhem So spending a shit load fixes it

  • you can upgrade laptops its just harder and youll probably need someone prifessional

  • but you cant upgrade a laptop's graphics card because nobody sells laptop graphics cards as I have learned trying to upgrade my m17x :(

better off just going with apple laptop

  • @1Pantikian

    upgradeable computers = desktop computers

Laptops are designed to fit only the things they are designed for.

  • @1Pantikian Yes, going with a mac that plays what games? Oh yeah they don't play games, and YES you can buy graphics cards i'm 11 years old and i know more than you. Go online you can find A ton of graphics card. But I don't care you can go but a Apple Mac Book (Crap Book). Who agrees with me?

  • @FSXUSER10 lol, youre 11. i have been looking for laptop graphics cards (there is a difference), and no, you cannot buy laptop graphics cards, not even from the graphics card companies. You can look for them on ebay but in order for someone to be selling on they would have to take it out of their own laptop and currently not many people are doing that.

  • 0:00

  • Linux has an AK-47 in his backpack and is only acting like a doofus. :D

  • someone's jealous of Linux's apparent superiority

  • @jaymezavirus wut I am not in to math keep it away from me

  • @porkyminch01 lol

  • @jaymezavirus fucking pinguy and ubuntu does not work on the hp mini 1000, 60% of the drivers do not work out of the box and probably will never be resolved, both work great on the aspire one, so I could blame HP.

  • Yeah I hate upgrading as well, I'd much rather buy an entire new computer that is the most expensive on the market

  • linux!

  • Boy, these kids today. They gotta' start listening to their elders.

  • Ahhh yes, the "Same article" he was referring to, the one I posted.

"ThinkPad T61 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS was consuming 14% more power than Windows 7, but when both were loaded with NVIDIA's binary driver that leverages PowerMizer and other power-savings techniques, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS averaged to consume just 4% more power."

    - Which means......AGAIN.......that an OS that requires HALF the system resources of Windows 7 STILL sucked more 4%-14% MORE power than Windows 7.

    Instant annihilation AGAIN!

  • @TheUberDeity "...system resources...."

You make the lower system requirements sound like a bad thing. System requirements have little impact on power consumption. Unfortunately drivers often play a bigger role here though Windows itself has pretty good power management capabilities. Do the lower requirements of Ubuntu mean Windows 7 was "instantly annihilated"? That said, you realize 4% of roughly 3 hours (not sure on what the total battery life is of the T61) is only 7.2 minutes right?

  • @LordDestros Not to mention those results were only for two computers (for which each had vastly different results) and only while the OS's were in their idle states.

Google's Chrome OS is also linux based and geek . com found that with the Cr-48 it lasted roughly 8 hours with Quote "5 hours of Hulu videos, roughly an hour of streaming music, and intermittent browsing" so uber is wrong when he says linux, what he should be saying is ubuntu, as linux is obviously more than just ubuntu.

  • benjy288: ""there is not a huge difference in performance between Microsoft Windows 7 Professional and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS."

    - What the idiot forgot to mention is that Linux requires ohhhhhh, half the resources of Windows 7? Isn't that the Linux-fanboy argument? And the best it could muster was "not a huge difference?"

Hahahahahahahahahaha!! It's SO EASY sometimes! Jesus!

  • @TheUberDeity Source "AMD's 12-core Magny-Cours Opteron 6174 vs. Intel's 6-core Xeon"

Source "phoronx is Windows 7 Actually Faster Than Ubuntu 10.04?" "What these results do show is that Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" is very capable of being a comparable gaming platform to Microsoft Windows at least as far as the quantitative performance is concerned"

Can't keep up on graphics you say?

  • Double-whammy today. An old-school UberDeity victim and a fresh new face that I just turned into hamburger.

And gee, it's not even Wednesday!

Article Title: Ubuntu 10.04 Is More Power Hungry Than Windows 7

    Author: Michael Larabel

With bar graphs to prove it.

  • LINUX THE BEST ;D

  • @Ocelot152 more code? that doesn't mean crap. Snow Leopard is much better than Windows 7, simpler, can run just about anything you want, and has 9-14 LESS GB than Windows. those 20-40 million codes you're talking about, is just stuff of drivers (getting, installing, using), not actually native tasks. Mac can leave out all that bull crap.

  • @Rifalltoo

Ummm, no, it can't. Software versatility is one of the biggest hangups of SL. That's why Apple thanks their lucky stars every night that Microsoft, in their GENEROSITY, allowed Apple to run Windows via Bootcamp.

    Actually, a full-fledged Snow Leopard install is around 13GB. A full-fledged Windows 7 install is about 16GB.

Finally, CNET showed Windows 7 kicking the living snot out of Snow Leopard....on a Macbook Pro, no less. Woops!! Guess Snow Leopard ISN'T better than Windows

  • @TheUberDeity Full fledged install of snowleopard includes an extra dozen or so gigabytes of software. Windows 7, you get IE and a trial of office. That's pretty much. . . nothing.

And its funny how everybody thinks a "faster" computer is automatically better. Not the case. In terms of performance, I'd love to see one windows 7 machine in real life go a few days without slowing down. My brother's over powered hard wired Win7 computer slows down if he doesn't reboot/reset every day.

  • @Rifalltoo

"Full fledged install of snowleopard includes an extra dozen or so gigabytes of software."

Great, more software for me to remove?

"Windows 7, you get IE and a trial of office. That's pretty much. . . nothing."

Windows 7 doesn't come with a trial of Office....

  • @LordDestros OSx does come with some great software. Since you're already paying for the software, it's not free, but it does make the value of the operating system go up substantially. Honestly, mac is geared for specific tasks and those specific tasks it does great. An example would be music recording with Garage Band. It does everything Pro Tools does, and it comes with OSx. Another example is Adobe's Creative Suite.

Anyway, just try to keep an open mind about mac. They're not that terrible.

  • @mhaneline "... value of the operating...."

But many people do not need such software included with iLife or already have superior programs. Others may find Windows Live or other free programs to be more than sufficient for their needs. These people see no benefit from having it.

How Adobe CS an example? It is multi-platform and isn't free with Mac OS X.

    "They're not that terrible."

I don't believe their terrible but rather are overpriced and as a result are worse than many other PCs.

  • @LordDestros I wasn't speaking for all people, as though all people should use OSx, and that OSx is best for everyone. Please do not make assumptions.

Adobe CS is an example of a piece of software which the mac is geared for. I stated so very plainly in my comment. I never suggested that it was free with OSx, nor did I state that it was only for the mac. Your reading comprehension ability is a bit lacking, or you are too impatient when you read a person's words.

Mac is great for specific tasks

  • @mhaneline

My point is value is subjective. Some people see it as an added value whereas others see it as an inconvenience. I understand you weren't speaking of it as superior for all people.

Regarding Adobe CS: And I still don't see what you mean. You aren't explaining how Macs are any better for Adobe CS than non-Mac PCs. E.g. CS4 was an example of a program that clearly performed worse on Mac OS X than on Windows. It's as if I claim Windows is geared for Safari. What does that even mean?

  • @LordDestros It is widely known and accepted among professional designers that Adobe products (dreamweaver, photoshop, fireworks, flash, etc..) have next to no chance of crashing on a mac as opposed to a windows machine. This is why most professional designers use mac as opposed to windows. You'll also find this in the music industry.

In all other industries, you'll find Windows far superior with far more market share (except for professional servers, these use AIX or a Unix/Linux distro).

  • @mhaneline "It is widely known and accepted among professional designers...."

And I disagree. Adobe applications specifically tend to favor Windows in general over Mac OS X. Hence the reasons Windows received native/optimized x64 binaries first as well as the reason Apple hates Flash. Further many designers often use Windows for various Windows-specific software such as 3DS Studio Max or Linux for animation/rendering.

  • @LordDestros And how many designers have you worked with professionally? Do you work in the industry as I do? I didn't even originally comment to argue, just to let you know that mac is widely used for designers and sound engineers. It is factual and I am sorry if it bothers you. Take care.

  • @mhaneline

Widely accepted? And you have proof of this? Sources to back this up? Reputable sources, I might add...not your basement-dwelling wannabe vector graphic artist.

Even Adobe openly admitted that their products ALWAYS run better on PC, not Mac. Here's a tip. Being a designer or a music producer does N-O-T make you a computer expert in any way, shape or form in any reality. Period. They're overpriced, underpowered, terribly exploitable, and outdated.

  • @TheUberDeity I am a fortune 500 software architect, not a "basement-dwelling wannabe vector graphic artist".

Insulting someone is the best way to end a conversation, and this conversation is over.

  • @mhaneline

No, you're not :) But thanks for the laugh. Oh, I'm the president of Ferrari. No, REALLY!!

  • @TheUberDeity It looks as though we are the same age. Why do we not both act the same age? I think that you would do well to take a step back and ask yourself why you are conversing on the internet. What are your goals? If your goal is simply to insult people, I would seriously urge you to rethink your moral standard.

Not that I am obliged to provide evidence, but I specialize in load-balanced parallel process transaction-based applications supporting thousands of concurrent connections.

  • @mhaneline

So what you've basically said is that you come here to formulate opinions, instead of quoting sources.

Thanks! I just wanted to clarify. Next time don't drop a comment like "It's a well known fact that...." without actually having......y'know.....facts to back it up. Me? I've already got one up on you, and it's a pretty simple one. I'm still waiting for you to come up with counter-evidence instead of saying "I do this n' that," which means sweet fanny ass in the long run.

  • @TheUberDeity No. I read your smug comments and thought to myself "Here is a person who has a very biased opinion on a subject which I feel I have more experience in. Perhaps I can share my experiences, as far as the industry I work in is concerned, and help him see things from a different perspective".

After conversing with you a bit, I have come to the realization that you, for whatever reason, do not act your age or conduct yourself in a respectful manor. Not a man of intellect, but spite.

  • @mhaneline

Spoken PRECISELY like a guy who just got exposed for being a know-nothing moron who decided to do exactly as I said: post opinions, not facts.

You're doing very little to help your case here. When I start beating people in arguments, they tend to deflect the issue by attacking my character.

    Here's a hint: It doesn't work.

  • @TheUberDeity I'm choosing to ignore your first statement as an immature tirade. Please do try to act your age, you are a grown man.

Now then, if you were to tell me that a certain machine sold better than another (I see that you are a salesman), that it was a matter of fact in your industry, as a rational adult, I would take you for your word. If I were an immature dolt, I might demand proof and go off on a tangent such as you have below. It's a good thing that I am not an immature dolt.

  • @mhaneline

This coming from the guy who says "the fact is....." without providing any concrete evidence, which is precisely what this argument (ie: killing) is all about.

Please, run along, child. You can't compete with me no matter how hard you try. Now you're just wasting my time, and you aren't privileged enough for that.

Still waiting on those sources, squirt!

  • @TheUberDeity I see that it is too much to ask for you to act your age. Understood. I wonder if your boss or peers would have a shred of respect for you if they knew this is how you conduct yourself off-hours.

It is not my responsibility to prove anything to you. The top design firms around the world design on macs using adobe software. That you don't know this is, in and of itself, enough proof to show your lack of knowledge on the topic. You can throw an immature tantrum all you want though.

  • @mhaneline

Actually.....son, I am the Boss :) I'm a University-educated Photonic Engineer who builds industrial laser machines for a living....from scratch, and exports all over the world.

The "top design firms" aren't computer-savvy. Very few companies are. Try not to confuse "designer" with "computer expert," hmmm? You're embarrassing yourself something awful. On my channel is a comparison of the 12-Core Mac Pro vs. a custom-built PC.

Weep in utter shame as you read it.

  • @TheUberDeity Ignoring yet another immature attack. Can you please stop with them? It's pointless.

I don't think many people would dispute the fact that adobe software is faster on windows than mac. What designers are concerned about is the operating system having a memory or IO fault. When it comes to design, people trust mac not to crash on them just like people such as myself trust operating systems like AIX to run mission-critical applications and databases instead of windows server.

  • @Rifalltoo

There's no Office free trial. FAILURE #1.

See a Windows 7 machine go a few days without slowing down? I've got....count em......FIFTEEN computers running Windows 7 both at home, on my laptops, and at work, with ZERO slowdown, and they've been running W7 for the last 16 months.

    FAILURE #2.

Your "brothers" computer (I doubt he has one) is either a piece of shit, or your brother is such a tech-illiterate moron that he actually made an effort to fuck up Windows 7.

  • @TheUberDeity Right. . . because my brother only taught me almost everything I know about windows. I'm not talking younger brother. I'm talking older. Dude, yo sound like you just think you know EVERYTHING about computers just because you know windows. Give yourself a break and learn everything. I don't get my information from a few little sources. I learn everywhere.

And, many OEM and clean installs come with trials of crapware. Ufail

@lamethelaw I'm using linux right now. LOLZ!!!

  • @Rifalltoo

My little friend, I regularly run Ubuntu, Mint, OpenSUSE, and Snow Leopard on my machine for continuous testing and education purposes. Your last comments made an IDIOT out of you, and LordDestros and I proved it.

There IS no Office Free trial, despite the silliness you posted in your comment that baffled everyone with your utter buffoonery. You know N-O-T-H-I-N-G about Windows, computers, or OS's in general.

    I however, do. Case closed.

  • @TheUberDeity Right, and I'm not learning? I am learning. I constantly look up everything I can to figure out what I can do. I have succesfully gotten USB drives to boot off of every PC I've come in contact with. But that's not even a percent of what I've gotten to know. If you're so great, why don't you prove yourself by building a version of windows that ACTUALLY WORKS.

And that Office free trials is what happened to me every time. fuck that. Open Office FTW.

  • @Rifalltoo

Yeah, OpenOffice :) Hahahahaha! Try constructing a PowerPoint presentation for a large company in OO, put it on a USB stick, come to work, and then load it up onto an actual PowerPoint program from MS Office.

It'll be a fucking disaster. I've tried. OO might be free, but there's almost always a catch with open sourced stuff.

Proven quite easily by the long list of 64-Bit Linux bugs that currently plague the latest distros.

  • @TheUberDeity "It'll be a fucking disaster. I've tried."

I've had the same issue with simply using varying versions of MSO PowerPoint (Office 2008 -> 2007, 2007 -> 2003, 2003 -> 2000) at times so that issue isn't unique to Open Office.

  • @LordDestros

I'm not talking about that at all. I'm talking about building a PowerPoint presentation in OpenOffice and then opening it up with Office Powerpoint. Linux Mint refers to OO as "a near-drop in replacement for Microsoft Office," which clearly it is not.

  • @TheUberDeity And my point is even Microsoft Office PowerPoint can't open Microsoft Office PowerPoint files correctly at all times. In either case, my own preferred Office suite would probably be Lotus Symphony after MSO '10.

  • @TheUberDeity You can say it's a child-os all you want. It still doesn't change the fact that Windows is also trying to be a hold-your-hand OS along with them. MS office seems bloated with visual features. OpenOffice in my experience works faster, better, and doesn't have that visual bloat. And, if Mac OS has so many security issues (and is used in almost any workplace), why aren't hackers all up on them to take down companies and other crap like that. Don't blame it on low marketshare!

  • @Rifalltoo

So the next time you bash an OS that you just can't grasp, you might want to look at YOUR OS of choice. Not only is Linux chock-full of bugs, but the graphical performance is subpar (despite having almost half the necessary system requirements) it has a power consumption rate 48% bigger than that of Windows (run it on a laptop, I dare you), and you're stuck with broom-closet drivers and third-rate open-source knockoffs of better programs.

GIMP can't beat Photoshop. Dream on.

  • @TheUberDeity I will quote you on this one "And you have proof of this? Sources to back this up? Reputable sources"

Regarding your comment on "Not only is Linux chock-full of bugs, but the graphical performance is subpar (despite having almost half the necessary system requirements) it has a power consumption rate 48% bigger than that of Windows (run it on a laptop, I dare you), and you're stuck with broom-closet drivers and third-rate open-source knockoffs of better programs"

  • @benjy288

Actually, I got all those facts from xyz, who has coincidentally posted factual URLs to every single one of those things.

You know, the guy who has been beating your ass to death for weeks after I got tired of you.

  • @benjy288

Oh geez! I goofed :) Remember how you're always saying that I never admit when I'm wrong? Well, that ain't true. Turns out I was wrong about Linux consuming 48% more power than Windows 7.

    It's actually 56% more power. D'oh! Do I ever feel silly :)

  • @TheUberDeity Yes i thought you would say that, which only proves how dumb you truly are,

"The results from this OpenGL game testing are similar to that of our workstation results earlier this month: for the most part, there is not a huge difference in performance between Microsoft Windows 7 Professional and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS." you said sub-par graphical performance?

And ubuntu 10.04 used 1 watt more power on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 in idle state only, you said "run it on a laptop, I dare you".

  • @benjy288

Damn!! What a shame that nobody except Linux is using OpenGL these days! Even the OpenGL community and every single developer dropped support for the platform!

This is 2010, kiddo, not 2003. Time to buy a watch.

I just quoted a source for power consumption which MURDERS you (again). I'm not the Linux-hater anyways. xyz is, and I'll let him continue to beat your ass every single day, in and out. You're a time waster. I just walked by to slap you in the face :)

  • @TheUberDeity And i quoted the same source for power consumption, and you are aware that only two computers were tested, where one only used 1 watt more, are you saying all computers are the same?

Oh i'm sorry i thought the issue wasn't who uses which technology, i thought it was graphical performance, how about this one "Blender 50 to 70% faster on Linux"

  • @benjy288

Yawwwwwn. You're boring me again. You're barking up a dead tree. Linux can't keep up with Windows 7 on graphics. That's the be all and end all of it. If your "facts" consist of a line of text (you didn't post a source, WOOPS!) and an outdated graphical platform like OpenGL, then I really am SEVERELY disappointed.

Not that I expected much to begin with. The floors are nice and clean after several people have used your face to clean them to a spotless sheen.

    G'bye!

  • @TheUberDeity okay, even I cannot defend GIMP. I know it's a piece of shit. but, how come when I try looking up all the bugs with things you tell me about, I can't get anything. Why not make a website about it? It would be much more worth your time than trolling mac users on Youtube.

  • Unless of course, you're talking about Macs, in which case you're stuck with a dead-ended, frankensteined bastard-child OS with enough security exploits to write a book on, plus substandard, cheap-ass, bargain-bin outdated hardware and an astronomical price tag.

But wait, there's always "resale value." Definition: "The method upon which one naive Mac customer pawns their dead-ended machine off on another naive Mac customer in order to purchase a new one, thereby repeating the cycle."

  • @Rifalltoo

Do yourself a favor. Stop talking. The embarrassment level must be horrible for you to endure. I'd hate to see you break and cry when guys like me and Destros kick the snot of you.

  • That linux guy sounds like ignorant Windows+Linux users who only want upgradability. Linux is good, but is DOES NOT run every piece of software. It's still loaded with a lot of broad driver crap that bloats the OS (not as much as windows though).

I love my linux. I like Macintosh. I use windows as a last resort.

  • @Ocelot152 hate to bitch buddy but windows just keeps adding code to there old o/s, cause they don't have the ability to build a new o/s from scratch, that why windows bought Novell Linux a few years back, cause they needed to add new stuff to there new o/s and most of the world don't know Linux, so windows can take advantage of that. so think about it, which one faster 20 million lines of code or 5 million and then after all the updates and service packs 40 million. ya ok

  • I think Linux wins

  • "Plug and Play, how'd they know my street name"

    Interesting joke. xD

  • am I the only one who appreciates both macs and PCs?

  • Linux user and still proud of it :) Doing the right thing unfortunately doesn't necessarily make you look cool

  • ha, linux sucks.

  • (shakes head) What a pointless, stupid reply, phenom.

  • I hate that NOBODY knows that Macs have BOOTCAMP that allows Mac to run WINDOWS...

  • @phenom910

Yeah, and it just happens to run Mac hardware BETTER than Snow Leopard does. CNET ran the test .

  • @TheUberDeity While that may be true, I still like Snow Leopard better :3

  • @phenom910

That's your choice entirely. Just saying.

  • @TheUberDeity *Correction* Just Saiyan.

  • i wish i had the money to buy a mac, just to buy a hi-end PC!

    Ha!

  • @katarn109

:D And I wish I had the money to build a high end Intel rig... So I could buy two AMD rigs and share their processing power.... Bang4buck ftw lol

  • @katarn109 so true :)

  • @katarn109 agree.

  • Man.. The whole OS war is pointless... I use a Mac, and yet I still love Windows as well, but I just prefer using Mac OS X, it suits my needs more... Just be happy with the OS you have and don't complain about what other people use

  • @DudeofWonders123

It's not a matter of the OS. It's a matter of the hardware. Apple has figured out that starry-eyed tech newbs are willing to get wallet-raped with a smile on their face, then sent home with a computer that will go dead-ass obsolete in 8 months.

  • @DudeofWonders123 Macs=scaM :P

  • @htainlintha Lmao, I just noticed that, that's a good one haha ^^

I agree with you in some ways, they are a bit too pricey... But I think it was worth my money in some ways ^^

  • The linux guy reminds me of this really annoying kid at my school.

    dipshits.

  • I've seen fanboys of all types. I have found Linux fanboys in web development scene that say "fuck WIndows and its poopy .NET" "wanna make a joke website? Make all its webpages have the .aspx extension"

  • i hate macfags they make me raaaaageeeee!!!!

  • @OMGnubcakes

Personally I find them excellent entertainment value! The trouble is, they get boring quickly, so I find I'm frequently discarding them for new ones.
