  • I heard my favorite band "the Cocteau Twins" Were named after a song or this tale.

  • I think they're aliens.

  • The film is now available from the Criterion Collection.

  • Purely by chance someone sent me a copy of that edition of the San Diego Tribune when it came out, for completely other reasons. I cut that article out and still have it in my scrapbook. I've saved everything I could find about those girls.

  • @jdhj25 No, that's what that was, that's what Nell & May were doing.

  • I love that Jedward are appearing in the related videos.

  • It sounds like the languages people speak in those jungle tribes in South America :P

  • Listverse

  • They are worshipping cthulhu, What you hear is the closest thing to chanting such as "Ia ia cthulhu fhtagn"

  • I wonder what the girls are doing now.

  • I would love to find a full version of this film, thanks for uploading it!

  • Fascinating story, but wow, what a terrible documentary. This is what documentaries were like before Ken Burns, children.

  • @ferretface1 Ugh, terrible. Ken Burns doesn't deserve to be called a film maker. It's just people talking to the camera half of the time. This is actual cinema. This sounds a little pretentious on my part, but I'm sure Gorin himself would be proud of such rhetoric.

  • @savagedudeguy Honestly it does seem pretty heavy-handed and obnoxious with the constant text and question marks flying all over the place. It's a pretty needless addition to an opening that should be able to stand on its own without all the silly frills.

  • What is it about these old documentaries from the 70s? There's just this...weird, very specific and peculiar feeling to it. Boards of Canada somehow tapped into this and it's so telling that their very name refers to the National Film Board of Canada. I remember watching Canadian documentaries telecast on Singapore TV in my early childhood and it's spooky and nostalgic to hear...and feel....thet peculiar quality in the samples they used for their music.

  • "Linguistic analysis of their language revealed that it was a mixture of English and German (their mother and grandmother were German-born), with some neologisms and several idiosyncratic grammatical features."

"Pinit, putahtraletungay." (Finish, potato salad hungry)

  • Been looking for this for years. If you do have it, I hope you can make it available, whether here or elsewhere. Anything to help keep a film from becoming lost.

  • JP was my professor last year for film studies, LEGIT!

  • Gosh, wish I could watch the movie...

  • @savagedudeguy Hi, I tried to send you a private message to ask if you would be willing to trade something for a dub of this film, but I could not send because I am not your youtube friend. Please contact me if you have time. Thanks!

  • Interesting language.

  • The parents of these girls were really stupid...
