I read that just before they started passing out government cheese, Reagan actually cut a HUGE chunk of the national funds that went to families in need.
The Lyric "They'll turn us all into beggars, cause they're easier to please" just sent chills down my spine... A statement like that rings true to any american citizen with half a pea-brain in their head these days
This is an amazing songs. Sticking it to the man. Should be Government bail out now, how times change. Love you Bob and all the wise words. Great stuff, real.
You KNOW you hit libs between the eyes with the truth when they respond, "Well, BOTH parties have screwed us." The truth remains - the right does have agendas but it's the LEFT that 'drinks the kool aid' (kook aid) and buys the bull$hit that gov't cheese is the solution.
@evane1989 I agree completely. I used to be a Republican, but recently they've shown no tendency towards the values of small government and the free-market and have increasingly adopted policies of economic interventionism...
Saw the Rainmakers in 86 at the White Cocert Hall in Washburn Unitversity Topeka Kansas. They blew the Speakers at that concert. It was a great performance. Message still for today and yes I do agree with the video interpretation, I see this everyday and I am not in denial. If something is not done soom we will be in another CW.
Are you all insane? this is the white version of listening to NWA and really violent early nineties hip-hop and being SUPER IGNORANT about everything. Before the Gipper was your favorite president he was the governor of my state and let me tell you what he put in place we're still trying to undo. Like homeless people? No, you don't- and neither do we- but he gave them all one-way bus tickets to the warm climes of the San Francisco Bay Area and we have 9 times the national average of them!
Wow! Talk about being clueless. Both parties have mismanaged us into this mess. Conservatives could care less about the poor and the Liberals instill a sense of hopelessness and entitlement in the poor to keep them there.
The song is a sarcastic analogy of government social programs. Back in the 1980s, cheese that was passed out in the governments food commodities program seemed to symbolize a society that just tried to do the minimum to keep people quiet and pacified, rather than actually help people overcome poverty and adversity. Whether it was cheese, or drugs, or religion, or mindless entertainment, the message was, Resist that; get busy and move forward.
If this is not true then how are so many illegal immigrants able to find good paying jobs here. The following might be anecdotal to you but truth to me. My wife and I live in Green Bay. She is a bank manager and sees hundreds of checks that are brought in by the immigrants that work in the factories and meat packing plants in the area. Most put in overtime and a few have multiple jobs. 99% are responsible when managing there money.
@jdosia - you say this is "the white version of listening to NWA"?? NWA's "Gangsta Gangsta": "Here's a little somethin' bout a nigga like me Never shoulda been let out the penitentiary Ice Cube would like to say That I'm a crazy mutha f*cka from around the way Since I was a youth, I smoked weed out Now I'm the mutha f*cka that you read about Takin' a life or two, that's what the hell I do You don't like how I'm livin', well, f*ck you" I'm afraid I just don't see any similarity to this song.
I read that just before they started passing out government cheese, Reagan actually cut a HUGE chunk of the national funds that went to families in need.

Give a man a free house and he'll bust out the windows
Put his family on food stamps, now he's a big spender
no food on the table and the bills ain't paid
'Cause he spent it on cigarettes and P.G.A. <------- PURE GRAIN ALCOHOL

STOP THE PARASITES!!! call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121 and ask for your senators' and/or representative's office.
Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the member of Congress.
DO IT NOW, while we still can THEN COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE!

No joke. AND these same parasites wonder why terrorists hate us.

What is with the hatred for Obama? He is no different than Bush thus far.
The Republican party has proven to be pro-socialism. Subsidy programs, bail outs to banks etc.. it's hardly a right wing party any longer.
