  • I read couple articles about the Boss 302's over heating on the track after like 5 laps. Been on ford forums but cant find anything on youtube. Ford is offering a new grille, radiator and oil cooler. They saying ford said in manual to remove grill when running on the track.

  • The mustang started as a badass muscle car in the 60's. At about 1974 Ford Ruined the mustang. Then In the 90's they made it better, but it was still ugly.

    In 2004 they made it an awesome sports car that was fast and sexy, but it was missing the badass mean Rumble look. In 2010 they made it one step ahead to being badass. Now, The Boss 302 is back and more badass than before.

  • @SOFSoldier1 Defective gears slipped thru the QC process that were too soft & wore down quickly. It only affected 1 in several 1000 transmissions that were in the production pipeline, sitting on dealer lots or on the road once the problem came to light. Too few Mustangs had a potentially bad trans to issue a recall or tear down the 1s in stock. The problem is fixed but I'd check for a later production date of a new 2011 Mustang before I'd buy, just in case. Still not a 'deal breaker' either way.

  • The 2012 mustang gt I have heard has a multi link rear suspension but every reviewer says all mustangs from the v6 to the gt500 have a live rear axle. ford website also says multi link rear suspension for all mustangs when you compare the cars side by side. so which is it?

You get to chose when to change, the stupid computer doesn't do it for you, manual transmissions weigh less, and they usually have a bigger aftermarket than the automatic transmissions. This Boss 302 is made for drivers, not pussy foot grocery getters and gift shopping.

And this car was made for 50 year old guys who wanna relive there youth, majority of these cars sold will never even remotely be driven the way there supposed to be, so calling them a drivers car, idk.

  • I'm way too lazy to read the rest so here's a synopsis of the truth:

    -In no way, shape, or form is the camaro better handling or faster than the comparable new mustang...its just not happening.

    -The mustang was not the first retro car, I believe it was the Chevy SSR in 2003.

    -The 4.6 wasn't replaced because of the new Camaro, try new EPA guidelines

    -The Corvette does not own all fords, ever heard of the GT40? or how about the AC cobra

    -stop using 2010 figures, this is 2011. and the 5.0 is here

  • @sergsrt8 not true the camaro was born from the track too but the new camaro is a poor example of a platform with too much damn weight and the same goes with the new mustang these modern muscle car have no areodynamics or goodcorning abilty to match its modern high powered engines however the 3rd and 4th gen camaros with 450-600lbs lighter with modern engines and suspension including mustangs would make these cars look silly and the gens i spook of would easily be in the gt40s class

  • The previous model GT500 was faster than the SS Camaro by about .03 of a second 0-60 but the SS on a track with difficult turns would destroy the GT500...

    That was last gen though. I am all for this Boss 302, I want to see it run Nurburgring! Pretty sure the Boss will beat the SS's time but who knows.

    In the Camaro fans defense the SS is near $10K cheaper than the boss, mods aren't out of the question, but Stock you probably get what you pay for with the Boss :P

Sure this is still a mustang ... and yes it has a live axel and a big V8 ... but it beat a Audi AWD R8 around Laguna Seca! If I had 40 grand for a new car I know exactly where I would spend it!

You had the Boss 429 which were monsters in the straight but then you had the Boss 302 that dominated Trans-Am road racing. ZL1's were drag strip sleepers while the Z/28 competed in the road courses.

    Muscle cars were NOT somehow magically limited to only drag racing prowess.

Despite the fact that we still would like to call them "Muscle cars", they are in fact nothing more than glorified economy cars with fancy paint jobs. The true muscle car is dead as we know it, unless you have the rare blessing to possess something that was made before 1975 and that doesn't bare a Chevrolet tag on it.

  • @pjwallington Motor Trend got 3.97s to 60 with a stock Boss Mustang and they said there was a 3.90s 60 in the car with a better surface. The car actually produces around 475 hp at the crank and does the 1/4 in 12.3s or better stock, for around $43,000 that's tough to beat.

  • The Camaro is slower on each competing level than the Mustang whether it's V6, 5.0 V8, or GT500. It's really funny because even the new ZL1 will be slower than the GT500 considering it's to produce the same hp but weigh 300 pounds more. There is simply no comparison. And if you're so smitten by the Camaro design, then you should thank Ford for that too. After all, the throw back design success was started by Ford. Dodge and GM just hopped on board for ride.

Ford sold over 8 million Mustangs and Chevy sold under 5 million Camaros. And Chevy did stop making the Camaro for 8 years because they weren't competing well against the Mustang. And it was Ford's idea to retro-style the new Mustang for 2005, what did Chevy do? They copied them! Ford Mustang is better, faster, and more popular.

By those standards the Fbody was a pile of crap with it's low ass sales figure enough to put the camaro out for almost a decade. Besides, anyone making 50,000 cars will outsell the other making 40,000 cars. The question is, who will sell them all?

  • @hugoloves2spooge Well if the Camro outselling the Mustang for 2 years straight isnt that big of an accomplishment then the 5.0 beating the Camaro for 1 year is not a big accomplishment either considering that the Camaro has generally always been faster than the Mustang up until the 5th gens since they are so heavy.

  • @EclipseGS04 The mustang is better than ever, which is why they made the commercial promotion of it, ford has also made a DUB edition v6 mustang. The only problem I have with camaros are the low rooflines, they just need to make the roofline higher and possibly shed a few hundred pounds off of the car.

I haven't heard anything from police departments around the country who use the 4.6 on a daily basis to confirm this. ZL1 may or may not be slower, but it's a pretty good bet it won't handle as well as the Boss. Ford was the 1st to come out with the retro design for the pony car.

  • @StangpedePlus1 Actually the throw back design was really started buy Plymouth and chrysler with the Prowler and even (regrettably) the Pt loser. Everybody's product has its goods and bad's man. If that wasn't true then only one of them would sell at all. Yes I am aware that more mustangs are sold than the others but it's not by an overwhelming margin. Some people like their Camaros, some like the challengers, and others like the mustangs. I personally like them all.

  • By the way next yr is already announced for gt and boss 302 you can already order. I think it will be proven a good track car decent street at least the base model. Nice high revving engine don't see that much anymore w domestic v8's. So look over the new boss 2013 it is striped like a 70 boss was and some different colors.

  • @vasco10506 Ill agree they are similar cars. But a large percentage of the M3 buyers are looking for a performance car with a bit of luxary. But really the M3 isnt that luxurious. what does it really have over heated seats, ac, a nice audio system etc?  Sure its a bit more electronically refined but its also a lot less efficent. If i were looking at both cars regardless of price, i would drive away in the mustang. And yes ive driven the new M3 and GT.

  • @Leonidae lol u just chickened out! ive got a 355000 km mustang and drive it year round in canada. its not a big deal if you know how to power out. Ive never felt like it was dangerous to drive anywhere any other sports coupe could go. IRS is nice and im not doubting that it is a more advanced technology, but it also is heavier and weaker.

  • @DaBluedude100 If you didn't feel that it was dangerous, you weren't pushing it hard enough. Try doing ~70-100mph on narrow gravel road that's snaking through a forest and then say that it didn't feel dangerous.

I would still rather have the worlds best sra over a half assed IRS like the terminator cobra, camaro and challenger get.

  • Listen to all the BMW and/or GM fanbois whine about a live axle. A live axle that beats the 2011 M3 (with only the Mustang GT mind you), and trashes the Camaro and Challenger.

    "BUT IT HAS A LIVE AXLE WAAAAAA" and it is still less expesnive, handles better, gets better gas milage and is faster than the M3, Camaro and Challenger.
