The last time a film with a homosexual relationship touched me like this was when I saw "My beautiful laundrette," starring Daniel-Day Lewis. If you weren't put off by the homosexuality in this this, you should watch it.

Jack and Lorraine's dad have a fight 'cause Jack says that his son shouldn't watch TV while he's eating but her dad says that the boy should watch soccer if he wanna be a real boy

I think in this scene, Alma, the wife of Ennis eventually files for divorce because of what she saw between him and Jack. When Jack heard of this he thought that it might be a chance to finally live with Ennis. Ennis didn't want to leave his children and is haunted by the dead homosexual he saw during his childhood and so refuses to Jack. I think that might be what happened.
