I think Newtype abilities differ across all Newtypes. Scirrocco and Char don't appear to be very strong newtypes but they do seem to be very good at getting others to follow them.

Amuro and Char were the best pilots in my opinion, even though they weren't strong Newtypes. In fact, a big part of Char's story is his struggle with his Newtype abilities. It frustrates him that he can't use them as good as Amuro. However, Char was very knowledgeable. He was the first to realize that Newtype is just a mutation. Perhaps Amuro and Char's bodies hadn't mutated as much as Kamille or Judau who are from a younger generation.

Agree. Amuro was the best pilot.. Not as strong a newtype as Kamille and Judau. Kamille was a better pilot than Judau..my opinion and extremely powerful as a newtype. But Judau was the strongest newtype and the lesser pilot of the three.

@Comoesa Amuro wasn't about raw strength but predicting movements. His foresight and speed is unmatched. He's the only pilot that had to have his machined tuned because it couldn't keep up with him. The MK II, Z and ZZ used the same build as the RX-78 and to my knowledge never had to be specially lubricated for Kamille and Judau. If Amuro had piloted the Zeta, Haman and Scirocco would have been wasted before they knew it.

But Amuro didn't have to get his later suits tuned up. In Zeta Gundam he pilots some non-gundam suits that don't have custom joints, or at least there's no mention of them having to be finetuned for Amuro... I suspect by the time the Gryps war happened the technology had advanced enough to keep up with even Amuro-caliber newtypes. On the other hand, Amuro himself was probably evolving his skills since he designed Nu Gundam with wireless psycho frame receivers built into the frame.

@octoslut Not really canonical since it's a manga. Really, Ammuro isn't even that good of a pilot. It's just that pretty much all of his opponents sucked. Since he's the first ever Gundam MC though he get's pushed to messiahood by the fan base.

His willpower projected as a ghost would be enough to terrify her, considering even she may not be as powerful or close. Seems like Newtypes are stronger with every generation, I got to thinking this way since every Newtype hero after Amuro manage to do something more epic, up to a point, this is definitely a great example.

I wish Judau had used his newtype potential more in ZZ, seeing as how Yoshiyuki Tomino himself has said Judau is the strongest newtype in UC. You are right about Amuro having more control, but Kamille I'm kinda sketchy about; seeing as how he was mentally unstable.

Kamille and Amuro had more experiance, especially Amuro but Tomino said in an interview for ZZ that Judau was the strongest of the three. I never really saw Amuro struggling with his powers, Kamille I saw a lot in Zeta, but Judua is the most positive, you're right, so his mind is more clear then theirs.

Yeah, that was my idea. Or let Shinn represent Hatred and make Kira represent Escapism, so he has a more neutral stand point but he becomes aggressive and judgmental over time, actually make him start to turn into Le Crueset until his fight with Athrun where he decides to fight for somethingbut I don't want him disabling units, honestly that tactic wouldn't work in real life and it would be better if Kira learned that the hard way. Plus he did indirectly kill people.

I won't deny that Camille and Amuro were familiar with mobile suits. Judau did have in-the-cockpit experience though. Then again, he had to get USED to Gundams first since he'd piloted ordinary salvage machines whereas Amuro had an instructions manual and Camille had a rough grasp of where everything was.
