if i dont want to add the zests is that ok? I want to make this for my family, but I just do not want to add the orange, will it ruin the "original new york" taste?
@dmuneca I've tried this and EVERY recipe requires the zests. You don't taste it so I don't know what would happen if you don't use them. But I suggest just putting in a little as thats part of the ''New York'' style cheesecake.
Let's say that I'm hypothetically British and unable to get my hands on graham crackers - could I use digestive biscuits, or will I be brutally murdered for even suggesting such a thing?
@cugui3 thank you for your answer. but can you tell me please which kind of philadelphia cheese? because we only have the ones that you can spread on bread with vegetables and stuff....should i buy the original one? or the light one? or the nutella one? we don't have it like they do in the videos...in that big packaging....it;s different...do you live in europe?
@tirinaj2 No you don't. The spring form is mainly for a viewing pleasure. You can still get the cheesecake out if it's in a normal pan and it won't cook any differently
@tirinaj2 I woild seriously suggest splurging on that spring form pan. The cheesecake is so, so much easier to get out with the spring form pan. And it doesn't just have to be for cheesecakes, you can bake really anykind of cake in it too, provided you put a tray on the bottom so it doesn't leak.
i looked up in the recipi, its written "4 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese". i'm confused. total weight for 4 packages is 8 ounce or each package is 8 ounce. some1 please answer. thanks
so nice but it's so freaking expensive for me to try, Philadelphia cream cheese it's like 5 dollars a package here in Chile, thaty would be 20 dollars just in that ingredient
I put a pie pan filled with water underneath (on a different rack) the cheesecake while it cooks so the condensation keeps the top of the cake moist so it doesn't crack. By the way, in a really OCD chef would say, is that a cheesecake really isn't a cake. It's a custard. In fact, the first cheesecake was actually cooked just like a custard (you know, filled in a ramekin and put in water). THAT is what I do, it comes out the same as normal, except a little more dense and it NEVER cracks for me.
@MrC12B1MAN Hi! Sounds like you know a little something about baking! I was wondering if you could tell me if it would be a good idea to make an oreo crumb crust instead of graham crackers, and then add some broken oreo pieces into the cheesecake mixture. I really want to make an oreo cheesecake and i just want to know if this would work. Thanks!
@wrestlingfanman22 "Philadelphia" its actually a brand of cream cheese which is pretty common in Europe. Cream cheese is not called Philadelphia in Europe, it's just a brand which is used pretty often for cheesecake...funny indeed.
@A7laLolitaa I said Italians call Cream Cheese "Philedelphia". Why are you confusing England with Europe? England is a country, Europe is a continent.
@wrestlingfanman22 You don't get it. Even in Italy there is the brand "Philadelphia", of course they call it that. And where have I mentioned that Europe is a country? You're funny really, I said it's common in Europe, thus you can find Philadelphia cream cheese in Italy, Germany, Switzerland...etc.
@A7laLolitaa Apparently you don't get it. So I'll put it caps so you can get it through your thick skull. THE WORDS "CREAM CHEESE" TRANSLATE TO "PHILEDELPHIA" IN ITALIAN.
Where I live, I can't buy graham crackers or graham cracker pre-made crusts at the supermarket. I made the crust with Digestives but it kind of crumbled all over the place.. any other suggestions? Also I replaced one package of cream cheese with some milk to make it a bit lighter. Thanks for the recipe its awesome and a total crowd pleaser! It was the hero of the bake sale even with a crumbly crust :D
@solidpink any eggs, regardless of pasteurization or not, would work just fine. eggs in baking are just considered "binders" that bring everything together, especially in batters, thats the reason for them. (:
@TheDogScout Because people get hungry at night, but their parents or spouses are asleep, so they can't cook. So they watch other people make food instead.

Okay. so this looks absolutely delicious!! However, in my attempt to make it the top started burning after 40 mins into cooking. So is there any way to get an explanation or solution. Please and thank you. I would love to make this for Thanksgiving. :DDD
