I can't figure out where that photo shoot was done, when Viva sticks something up Edie's mini dress. It's near a monument, in Central Park or some other park in Manhattan. Also, I still don't know where that fountain was in that other clip from Ciao! Manhattan. I also wonder if there are any photos from the visit Edie did to Paris with Andy Warhol, Gerard Malanga and Chuck Wein.
@MowgliX Have you seen the photos of Edie, Andy, and Chuck (Edie having cropped brown hair) holding white rabbits? I believe that was from their trip to Paris.
@xXPinkGoddessXx No, I haven't seen them. Please post them if you can! I guess there are hundreds of photos and a few film clips we haven't seen. Probably some photos from Paris and London too. Oh, and after that they all went to Tangiers in Morocco too. Things that people keep at home maybe. This happened a very long time ago. Edie, timeless and stunning as she appears even today, is only one year younger than my own mother...
@MowgliX Unfortunately I didn't save them, but I do have the oft-circulated pic of Edie with cropped brown hair wearing a spiked S&M choker necklace of some kind. It's from that same session in Paris. Have you seen it?
@xXPinkGoddessXx I have seen that picture, and somehow I don't think the necklace has anything to do with S&M. Really, it's more like a fashion statement. What it looks like is a segment of the tracks for a small tracked vehicle, such as an armored personnel carrier... :)
@MowgliX Haha I didn't mean literally, but the only subcultures I'm aware of that use spiked chokers are the S&M and goth crowd (and I don't think the latter was around yet in the 60's). It's really hard to appreciate how ahead of her time fashion-wise Edie was from our modern context.
@xXPinkGoddessXx I'm looking at that picture now. I think it looks really strange, but there is a certain something about her soft neck and face and the hard, rusty, old spikes of the track segment. Oh, and the S&M people were around a lot earlier than the 1960s. Remember Marquis de Sade? Now, there was a real old pervert. 1965 or '66 is only yesterday, not an eternity ago. Remember Venus in Furs? by The Velvet Underground?
That's the United Nations Plaza (the building with the black top and curved roof is the fabulous Dag Hammarskjöld Library - the interior is stunning too) behind Edie at 0:35 by the way.
@MowgliX YES!! it's in Tudor City. there's a fantastic park just behind that area edie, paul & viva are hanging out at (overlooking UN) . i think some of them lived down there @ the time they filmed the sequence. i actually walked up that staircase (recognized the inscription) edie is laying across when i hung out in that area a few yrs. back, didn't realize it 'til i watched the flick for the umpteenth time again upon arriving home lol.
@desertshore Did you notice how cold Paul America seemed towards her in the beginning of this clip? He doesn't hug her or anything. It looks as if he shouts "Come on Edie, get up, let's go!" or something.
@desertshore Right, this was filmed in David Weisman's apartment at 336 East 43rd Street, a two-floor duplex, a brownstone in Tudor City with a little garden behind it.
@desertshore The railing Edie is spread out across is not at the overpass in Tudor City, but at some monument in Central Park I believe - we shall have to check. It would have been too dangerous even for our daring and reckless heroine to do that! It's from a hilarious scene in Ciao! Manhattan, a photos shoot with some models. Edie is there too, and one of the other girls pretends to stick something up under Edie's (very short) mini dress, and her expression is just priceless!
@desertshore Well, David Weisman lived in Tudor City, not far from the bridge at all. There is a clip when he is doing his Japanese samurai thing with a sword, and Edie, and if I remember correctly, Paul America walk in. Oh and Edie is very, VERY beautiful here, just soooo perfect. I wish I could go back and talk to her, maybe save her like so many people did. But she would have just ignored me. She was so lovely. Totally timeless.
@desertshore That's... what do you call it... Synchronicity? It's almost magical, in retrospect, that you should remember that, because I had the same feeling when I, out of the blue, figured out where that fountain near the Time-Life Building, the one surrounded by the wavy pavement was, just by accident. And remember - I haven't even been to NYC yet! (Or maybe I have, in some earlier life...) Maybe Edie, the little angel, is trying to show us something? Where is that inscription/war memorial?
@desertshore The inscription has some connection to the United Nations? It says something about "...nation shall..." Or is it connected to the Ford Foundation? And you're right: David Weisman had an apartment in Tudor City at the time, and I think three or four other people lived there too.
@jkjkjij22 The person Edie is hugging is definitely Viva, another one of Andy's superstars, and the guy at the beginning is Paul America. There isn't even a picture of Edie with Bob to be seen.
@xXPinkGoddessXx That's right: not a single picture. There could be some, but maybe the photographers or photo agencies are unwilling to publish them in case Bobby Dylan should sue them. But there is at least one photo of Edie and Mick Jagger. Edie once said (jokingly) Mick was the only man she would marry. :)
@MowgliX I don't think Bob Dylan would sue (would that even be possible?) because he's admitted to having known Edie. The only reason he sued over Factory Girl because his depiction was completely inaccurate. I remember reading that about Mick Jagger too, Edie also has an album cover with his picture in Ciao! Manhattan (and one of Dylan's 'New Morning' coincidentally).
