UK version is a masterpiece. The US version was ......................... .
I seriously adore Life on Mars (UK). As for why the US television companies can't come up with their own ideas, I imagine they don't want to spend the money researching ideas and actually paying writers and artists to create such exquisite productions. We're in major decline, remember?
You have great television in Britain - don't let them take it from you.
well its settled even true americans know the american version of the hit series is a whole load of bollocks why cant the american TV companies come up with their own TV hit?
@robloxrules55 They do, though. The world is flooded with US TV shows, good and bad. Sometimes great shows, like Lost and Breaking Bad and Mad Men. I just wish they didn't remake British shows for US TV. Just rebroadcast them. It would help more Americans remember that there's a big world out there and that we're just one piece of it.
With the US version of Life on Mars, they had an incredible cast but wasted them.
Um . . . . I don't get this. If this is a trailer for an American remake of the show (?) why show the British clips? If it's for the British show, (which the presence of Simm and co would seem to suggest) why on EARTH (let alone on Mars!) is this American voice-over plastered over everything, including the dialogue?
I watched this to see if I'd like the show. It just confused me.
its a joke alll it is, is parts of the first episode of the UK version chopped up and dubbed with the US audio of the trailer. i worded it wrong but u know what i mean
I was just thinking to myself after getting into two great American shows, Dexter and Breaking Bad, how its generally accepted British people will watch original American shows. However, it seems there is a large portion of Americans who cant seem to do the same with British shows.
Are they really so ignorant as to be unable to accept even the smallest differences from a virtually identical culture? It boggles your mind....
I'm American and I love the original Life on Mars. I actually saw the pilot of the American version online a while ago and it was positively atrocious. John Simm gave such a beautifully nuanced performance, while the American actor just seems angry and stiff. As for Gene Hunt, that should be Philip Glenister, and Philip Glenister alone.

You're an arrogant fucker to think that ALL Americans are arrogant fuckers. Life on Mars is better in America than in Britain, I'm sorry, I have all respect for the British version, but the American one has better acting, better filming, and better music.
Ouch, you are so wrong im afraid UK version all the way with better actors, bar Keitel who is on par with the brits. Why do you think UK actors are all over LA in most major US shows but no1 notices cos the brits are so goood!!

Stop being blind with pride for your country. Hunt in Britain was TERRIBLE. His character isn't respectable nor enjoyable, and he's just an all around horrible actor for that role. Same with who so ever plays Ray. He looks like a lumberjack. Chris and Sam seemed ok, but they still didn't compare to the acting put forth by Michael Imperioli, Harvey Keitel, and Jason O'mara. Maybe if you're British you'll like it better because you can relate but logic says that goes same for Americans.
But the guy who plays Gene in the uk version is amazing.
I've seen both versions, and while the american one has it's charms (i saw that one first) i prefer the british one, because it just as stronger atmosphere and more powerful actors.
Oh good one man, I'm going to shut up JUST BECAUSE you told me to. Who's the arrogant fucker? By the way, maybe if you'd learn to spell and punctuate, you could actually come up with a reasonable counter argument.
I'm clever, but I also don't give a fucking shit what the arrgoant moron on the internet's gender is. I'm racist because I liked the American version better? Do you know how fucking stupid that sounds? I'm going to a fucking Coldplay concert tonight, they're my favorite band. They're British. Tell me how I'm racist again? The American version was far better than the British version, for many many reasons. But no! We're bloody damn yanks so we wouldn't know a good show if it bit us in are wankers
Well if you want to start pointing out spelling errors because you're out of any legitimate arguments in your arsenal (there weren't many in there were there? (I never wrote 'arse'?).) I'm quite humoring? Humoring is the present tense of being humorous. It would be incorrect to use it like you said. I believe what you were attempting - and failed terribly at - saying was, You're quite humorous. But you're right, I obviousley am not 'clever', and can't put together a complete thought.
The British one has a lot of grit, plus that gene guy is proper old fashioned and bad, which the girls seem to like, strangely, the music is british 70s, which is where the best rock came from, sorry. The American version has more energy, good trailer, indepth cases. If someone asks which I would prefere....I wouldn't be able to pick.
Dude this sucks I live in America and I was just skipping though the channels and I saw this show call Life on Mars on BBC it was a Marathon of the show, I litterally couldn't stop watching it, it was sooo good. I always forget how really bad are shows are compared to the BBC shows which are always good, I dont believe this is going to be a good remake because I think the brits whole scene with the music of David Bowie was just great Does anyone know if they will use brit music in the remake?
What is it with the Yanks and stealing good British TV shows and making crappy American versions,if a show is that good then whats wrong with showing its original British counterpart, you know a show can be good with out being American....oh yea I forgot, they have to use other countrys ideas because their own shows are crap, they are even doing the same thing with Australian shows now...America please just show the originals!
Aaaah, now I get it! Had me really worried there for a moment... I honestly believed they had the original dubbed for the American audience...*shakes head* So, this actually means you did a very good and convincing job there - or that I'm really gullible.
Great idea, but would it have been possible to use the English voices for it? Might be hard but would work well to show up the American version for the turd it is. Still, great job mate.
