  • Excellent!!

  • This is a good song, well preformed Tony.

  • Great stuff......... Thanks a million for singing that. Your a class act Sir

  • Thank you Stu, it is kind of you to say so, but if you should feel like commenting on any more of my songs, please call me Tony, it is over 30 years since I was last called Sir. LOL :))

  • Ha ha , best version of that song I've heard since Moby Dick. Thanks once again. Im still listening to it. ;) Keep up the good work friend !! Its great

  • Delightful. that just improved my mood. :)

  • Pleased to have done so. Kind regards from the Isle of Man

  • Yes, Electra quite often gets herself on my videos. Particularly check out my first attempt at 'Fiddler's Green'!!

  • Hee Hee, sometimes my cat sings with me.

Now this one I've heard. I remember Harry Belafonte singing this. I think one of my aunties had the record.

  • You dirty scoundrel, you jumped from the knee right to the breast! ha ha, just teasing.

In the right company, there is always the line, "I put my hand upon her breast/ and the wind from her a** blew sou' sou'west"!!

This is one of my favorite shanties, so sorry if I get carried away

  • And you say I am a dirty rascal!!! lol. I thought I had heard some interesting verses in my past, but could not bring them to mind.

  • Great work, Tony. Apparently this was a pump-handle shanty, so would have been sung quite slowly (4 hefty men pulling down hard on the long wooden pump handles everytime "A-roving" was sung). That Jack the Sailor was a naughty chap. Is that the ship's cat at the end there joining in with the shantyman?

  • Thanks for the information Dave. Yes, I can see how by slowing the tempo a little would make this a suitable pupm-handle shanty. The miaows you hear at the end are from my cat making her comment on my singing again instead of paying her attention! (See my first attempt at Fiddler's Green and you'll see what I mean!!)
