If this show would have been in America in the 90s I would have enjoyed watching it. This is a great combination of two things I like ducks and vampires.
@BambisaurusRex I think it wouldn't be used for a cartoon now, more because of the "occult" feeling to it rather than it being "too scary". The intro talks about blood (which must have come from someone, IE a sacrifice), rituals, pentagrams, reincarnation etc.
If they Made Count Duckula now, they'd do away with the occult and strongly focus on his vegetarian characteristic to promote healthy eating. The same way Dennis the Menace is a smiling, friendly character now and not a scowling bully.
I actually dressed up as count duckula, with a homemade beak and green facepaint on year for halloween...NOONE knew who I was, (I was 7 at the time, or 6..) Such a good show!
God I loved this show. I've just introduced it tomy 6 year oldand she loves it too. Im going to have to get the DVD's lol - loadsa memories.
The narrator is a dude called Barry Clayton not Vincent Price - he's paradying Price as it's a parody of the vampire story and of course Price is famous for Vampire films and Michael Jackson's Thriller ending.
when the lyrics started i always got an image of a punk woman in a recording studio with a bloke in head lock punching him while singing "in the heart of transylVANIA"
Yea today cartoons of that scary factor back then whont fly.. My sis N Law wouldnt even let her kids see Billy and Mandy.. that's disney compared to this
Wow I havent seen this toon in a very long time. Yes it was Vincent Price narrating. I thought that was awesome too. And I agree that the Nick toons have suffered terribly after the 80's passed. The early 90's had some good toons, Doug Rugrats (the early episodes) and AHHH Real Monsters, but now its just bad. I think they only have like 1 good toon now, lol.
@PolarisPhoenix13 Barry Clayton was the name of the narrator I got from Wikipedia, so instead of sounding like an arrogant prick, you could of just listed the name instead of all the CAPITALIZED NOTS and the !!!, friend. But I do agree Clayton has a cool voice. Now, was he going for the Price sound or is that his natural voice. that is the question.
You need to sttle down bud. The capitals where NOT meant as an insult or to sound arrogant. I was just trying to clearly point out some information. I will be honest though,I found it amuzinf that anyone would think that sounded anything like Price.
@Lifesucksmetaldoesnt Give them crap all you want, but at least they tried. How many other television studios would have gave us Ren & Stimpy, Kids Incorporated, Don't, Just Sit There!!!! Unlike other shows geared toward that adolescent to early adult hood they at least gave us a chance to try!
I think I used to watch this when I was very little. I don't remember anything about the show, but the intro just seemed so familiar after watching it.

Now that's a storyline you wouldn't hear today. It would be too 'bad a scary' for children
