So...when did you take out the male betta fish, i mean their father...? I just saw my many betta frys in the large tank....and i have taken out their father in case he eats them. Though i read the father might put those hatched fry back into their bubble nest....hmmm....confused....help....and should i squeeze the filter sponge to encourage infusoria in the tank so the frys can eat?

yes, they will fight, just give them plenty of space to hide by using plants etc.

soojohn22 i had spawns last week but i didnt know until how many days will the father beta stay in my tank!!! before i knew it they were all gone eaten by their own father...

How much space (tank size) do you need to breed betta?

The pet store where I live doesn't sell females, or at least, they do but they don't like it. All the price tags say 'male betta', how can I tell the difference between a male and female?

you can tell by the egg spot underneath the fish...only females have it...

males have long flowing fins and ere generaly prettyer , females dont, and have an egg spot underneath. x chloe x

not all females, some are males..they havent grown yet, to look like a male

Hello marko, i am sorry to hear about your bettas. Don't give up. They will mate again...and again,,,and again... as long as ur water temperature and the conditions are right.
If you would provide me with accurate details of ur set up, i might be able to offer u some tips...like size f aquarium, and contents etc etc.
It's not difficult... i am not an expert, and i can do it too...so can you.
