Both the movie and the game were named "Spartan X" in Japan.

I once got 6 dragonheads on this game as a kid. The hardest villain ends up being the giant (level 3) b/c his kick takes out so much energy. When you beat the game 5+ times in a row, its nearly impossible to make it through the moths on level 4 b/c they move so fast.

Actually, there was a pseudo-sequel called Vigilante released in '88. Same gameplay, only MUCH HARDER. Your energy wouldn't replenish after finishing a level and the enemies would suck your life dry like vampires.

Oh, and it was 5 levels in NYC instead of a pagoda. And you also had to rescue your love (Madonna, in this case).

Yeah I know there are more stages with higer difficulty but still it's not a very exciting ending.

You can still have the good ending and then have the higher difficulty going up on step at a time.

It's still a very entertaining game though, I must admit.
