J'ai un souvenir très ému de ce film, que j'avais vu 2 fois à l'époque. En France, il ne fut pas très bien acceuilli, et n'a pas remporté de succès. C'est bien dommage, car il me semble que c'est un très bon film.
A beautiful film. I think Hollywood is going through a lack of creativity. The movies today are just not effect the computer has the story. Not only have movies like the music too. We only hear hip-hop and pop where are the rocks of the decade of 80/90?
Directed by Lawrence Kasden and his wife, this movie was, and will always remain a Timeless Classic.....And anyone, who can rubbish it, and call it trash and boring, is a superficial, shallow prick who would be in desperate need for a reality check!!!
My family & I, went to see this, at the theater. 15 minutes later, into the movie. (on the big screen they show red. Didn't know, right, until the camera guy back away. Show them doing a surgery on a guy.) That's when, my mom decide to leave. I was 9 at the time. Blood didn't bother me. Why, we all go. Well, my older sister. Said, her classmates, saw it. Saying it's a really good movie. I don't think, their was a kid movie, that day. (Or my mom want, all of us together.)
The trailer music is not from the soundtrack. It is a pretty good choice though. It is from John Rutter's "Requiem."
One of the greatest films of all-time. It captures America perfectly. The 1990's saw the decline of our society. How we live. How we act with each other. Things have not really become much better since then. I think there is an awareness at some level that we are not who we should be. Yet, we let the decline continue like helpless bystanders watching an car accident we are in.
I watched this movie right after I graduated from college in 1992. I am now in my 40's, and a few years ago, I went to the video store and rented it again. This movie still resonates with me, with its themes of humanity and how we relate to each other in modern American with all the stresses that have come with crowding, urbanization, and gentrification. Its themes still ring true today. And it even has poignant themes on race that "Crash" touched on 14 years later. GREAT movie.
@Beaver97266 ; This film holds for me a strange significance.. I have the DVD...I saw it at the movies when I was living in Sydney in 1992. I was with a Singles Movie group and we met at noon. There were 10 of us. We came out of the movie different, more subdued to when we went in. We went for lunch afterward but didn't converse much which was unusual for our group. I've seen it at least 5 times since then, and each time I view it, my life seems to change in a subtle way.
Grand Canyon is definitely one of the best movies of the 90's - unique story line, fantastic acting... Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Mary McDonnell, Steve Martin, Mary-Louise Parker, Alfre Woodard and young Jeremy Sisto did an excellent job.
Let us not forget that Lawrence Kasdan also EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Two of the most well written movies of all time. (Among a few...)
Grand Canyon is not a movie for teenagers you will really aprriciate the movie when you are older. it is a movie on brotherhood in a cruel world I was moved by it in the 90' and I watched now again in the DVD it' amazing movie and touching the heart
I've only watched it a couple of times and many years ago, but it has always been on my mind, I'll will watch it again soon. One thing that I've never understood in my ignorance, but has always made me wonder was; the helicopter? It's omnipresence throughout?? Maybe you have an answer :-). I'm no film critic!!

I am a proud adoptive father of two of the greatest kids on the planet.
When my wife and I were debating, thinking, arguing about making that cosmic commitment, this film was an item on the plus side.

What a load of trash. Why is everything out of hollywood and the media obsessed with race ? Sentimental nonsense and Hollywood at its worst.

I always liked that line about "the only two black people he ever met" because it's probably true and everyone knows it.
Sitting at the edge of the Grand Canyon does make you feel mighty insignificant. Takes your breath away.

I agree with both statements.

Those are Police helicopters. They are always present in Los Angeles. If you watch Boyz in the Hood you will see the same thing.
