  • love the kitty

  • I enjoyed it...top notch cover. Of course it isn't as good as the original, but how could it be?

  • A Classic....

  • the pictures... oh so random...

  • Robert Smith has a good voice for this, and I like the slightly different timing., but I'm not so sure about the fuzzy synthlines. It might just be my system but it seems to bury the vocal a bit, this would have been better stripped back, with acoustic guitar and piano I think.

  • @MissCureCrazy how was what I said "trollish"? I was expressing my opinion, which I have very right to do, and my opinion is that only JOY DIVISION, the original creators of the song, can play this song without sounding like complete crap. But, I guess that's subject to opinion.

  • nice.....video.....

  • awww the animals

  • Only band that deserves to cover this masterpiece

  • @clambetae Yes, you're absolutely right. Oh, and The Velvet Underground could do it too.

  • The Cure and of course Robert do a lovely cover...

  • I love you,Robert Smith,but this sucks.

  • This is difficult to wrap my head around. It's good, and Robert Smith's vocals are, as ever, amazing. But at the same time, this is a difficult song to enjoy. I love the original, but there's something in this song...

  • This cover is much more better than the official one! Robert really knows how to sing this song!

  • @zo0zo0ni1201mj no not really, i love the cure, but the original sounds better

  • @S0rr0w55 well!!! Everyone has a different taste in arts! I guess you are right for you! But for me (and only me) this cover is better, though I like joy Division! :)

  • Ew. You CANNOT cover Joy Division. Only Joy Division can do Joy Division. This is crap.

  • @WildOne7683 Then why did you click the video?

  • @WildOne7683 Oh your cool...what a trollish thing to say....

  • This is pretty much the only version I accept besides the original.

  • this is my most favourite song of all time, this version is beautiful i did not think anyone would be able to cover this well but The Cure have done it,brings tears to my eyes. And i know how the death of Ian Curtis affected Robert Smith so i'm sure he did this with love and respect. Be proud mr Smith.

  • i like this version more that joy division's. HATERSGONNAHATE

  • @whytodeep Stop trying to get attention.

  • @Deathsiren i don't. STFU BITCH

  • @whytodeep Yet again.

  • @Deathsiren not really, no

  • LOL WHY THE HELL ARE THERE CATS!?

  • @piemanrulez squirrels and shit,,

  • nice pics

  • @tonitojesus2 Nice tits.

  • nice song!

  • wat

  • is the Cure a new band?

  • @Carnroo Nope been around forever!

  • @Carnroo nope...

  • @Carnroo - The Cure formed in the late 1970s.Around the same time as Joy Division and at one stage in the early 80s they sounded just like New Order.

  • @Carnroo NO :D

  • Very good :)

  • this is a bad ass cover they made sound like one of their own songs almost

  • THE BEST COVER EVER. Period. *Love you Ian & Robert! Always. *

  • Aww I love the picture of the kitty! :3

  • I didn't wanna like this.....but I do

I love The Cure and Joy Division but I was hesitant.

    Brilliant job I was wrong

  • @deathbypowerglove i agree took me ages to finally listen to this i thought who would dare to cover this but it is brilliant.

  • Very random pictures.

  • he does a great job (dareisay emulating?) with ian curtis's deep ass voice. i was ready for disappointment when i clicked on this link...and was surely surprised to be delighted. but isn't that the essence of my being?

  • Whoa! Where is this from?

  • wow, this is my favorite song. i realy love it, loads !!!!! I Cant sleep without hearing this song.

  • Das ist kein cover von "the cure"

  • wow.. very nice Joy Division cover.. <3

  • Oh God, his voice is just so...*shudders with joy*

  • top song and a top cover...

  • lol I`m good looking babe

  • @dejectedXsubmorals dude chill

  • @dejectedXsubmorals No-one mentioned where they were from...

  • I really love The Cure and I adore Joy Division, but what Robert Smith does to this song is close to accustic rape.

  • Na, das war ist bleibt cool , ( besser als Dave Gahan )

  • love the cure so much, but not with this song.

  • @sadas21 really?!you really had to say that.how would you like it if people from the u.s of a said that ur stupid because of your accent and the fact that u have a Queen and a bunch of other garbage?to be quite honest ur being stupid by saying that Americans are stupid (which I am on thankyouverymuch!)

  • i prefer this version to the joy division one

  • Nossa! Irado!

  • F)**ck the Cure covering this song. FU((ck Joy division and their two songs

  • hiya i got moneys

  • 2:12... W H Y ?

  • its quite fitting that The Cure did this cover. I imagine Smith and Curtis were in a fairly similiar mindset at one point. well concluding from their lyrics. perhaps the difference was that Robert Smith had Faith

  • @MrMerlin87 The two bands also have alot in common. Both formed in 1976 and both released their debut albums in 1979. Very much contemporaries and both hailed as presaging the gothic rock movement of the 1980s. A more fitting band to cover this song? I could not think of any off the top of my head.

  • @MrMerlin87 read the book about the Cure and you will find out how Ian Curtis death affected Robert Smith. Yes you are right Faith and Pornography saved Robert Smith from the same fate as our beloved Ian Curtis.

  • terrible audio quality...

  • hiya I`m a cute and sesy girl with a nice personality kiss

  • @EraIeshats277 ya but you can't spell sexy

  • not quite as good as the original, but still a great listen!

  • GOTH!

  • but,this is not a gothic music....wake up gays!

  • Then love, Love will tear us apart again

  • this is the song every band wish they had written.

  • @becalmned I agree, same with love song by the cure.

  • Wow...so it's true...the only thing which makes gothic music in the very begining was that stump sound of the base-drum.

The Expansion and Changes in the Gothic-music from the cure to today-music is really.....scary somehow^^

  • This was recorded in a backstage studio at the now defunct Livid festival in Brisbane, Australia in October 2000. It was part of a competition that triple J did. The listener had to suggest a cover for 3 bands (cure, dandy warhols, forget the 3rd) to perform and if the band liked the listeners choice the listener got to join in on the recording of the song. I actually watched this getting recorded. The listener played Tambourine. It was a great competition

  • I prefer this version to the original, because of the bass and vocals. I don't like the synth as much though, and the drums are about equal.

  • I'm American--and I freaking LOVE both bands--please don't lump all Americans into one bunch--I don't do that to the peoples of the world--maybe people don't like Americans because even with all the f&*^ed up things going on here--it isn't a bad place to live. Just my opinion but most hate has it's roots in jealousy. Peace out ---

  • @TheJackie212 What an ignorant thing to say. People aren't jealous, Mr American, they are infuriated by the ignorance and stupidity of you and your countrymen, as demonstrated by your comment.

I live in the UK, we have everything that you do and more, like better education, so i have absolutely no reason to be jealous of a country full of people who can't navigate a world map.

Hatred spawns from one's actions, not from one's possessions.

  • @sadas25 I don't know what TheJackie212 said, but...

Why can't we all just get along? I'm an American, and I don't think I'm ignorant or stupid... But I do think it's ignorant to say that someone must be that way, because of where they live.

Also, I'm pretty sure I can navigate a world map.

We should all listen to The Cure and share a mutual liking of them, instead of talking about an entire country being represented by one youtube comment that you didn't agree with. :)

  • @sadas25 Dude it's not fair to lump any group by there geography faith or race. That just drops you to the level of the hater. I am an American and if I had the money I would leave, But I don't so this is where I live. I believe the standard of living for most in this country is fair to good better than most third world country's and worse than some of the developed world. So don't get upset as Rome fell so shall we so sit back and sip your Earl Grey! (that last part was me making a point)peace

  • I LOVE this sooo much- thanks for posting. It's like chocolate and peanut butter! Amazing and yummy!

  • I think that's the best cover but far away from the original...

  • not all americans are so rude and ignorant. remember every country has its assholes.

  • @JAKEWORLEY Yeah, and U.S.A has a 90% asshole population density.

  • well my opinion....the original from joy is way better...BUT this cover is sooooooooooo "cure" <3 Cure!!!!!

  • Two bands I love, all wrapped up in one song. God that sounds so good. BeLIEve me, all Americans are not rude or arrogant.

  • best band ever covering the best song ever... that's magic!

  • AWESOME! LOVE IT! THANK YOU ROBERT SMTH! :)

  • dude...a buffalo? seriously?

huh, that was... um.... unexpected at least.

  • Comment removed

  • I hope The Cure will perform in Manila. Tears For Fears, China Crisis, Simple Minds already performed here to a glorious welcome.

  • @morethanever100 I am hoping for that too!

  • jesus, this is a great version of the classic joy division song.

a great version! i can't stop playing it!!

  • this song was beautifully written, kudos to ian. but robert's lovely voice gives it a little something more, doncha think?

  • all the other covers for this song is great... except fall out boy they suck

  • Thanks for les fans français!!!!

  • Best Love Will Tear us Apart covers:

    New Order

    Swans

    and The Cure

  • @xRyan5 New Order is actually Joy Division.

  • @ctenochaetus no way! i don't believe you....well,i dunno. similar sound...i'm willing to consider.

  • @ctenochaetus Not exactly. It's not really Joy Divsion without Ian Curtis.

    But I see your point.

  • @ctenochaetus Well considering New Order has no Ian Curtis or Peter Hook I would say otherwise.

  • I like this cover. Its just a matter of musical taste I suppose.

  • @meucury8eye yeah thats true.

  • this recording does not do the cures version any justice what so ever, it sounds like its been recorded on a calculator..

  • wow! I never knew The Cure covered anything before. Not bad. Elisa

  • Fuck you all you haters the reason why DAMONALBARNFAN cause you dont know what good music is joy division inspired or should i say influenced if joy division fans hear say that they would fuck you up Cure is a good fucking band so is JOy Division So STOP BEING IGNORANT THATS WHY PPL DONT LIKE AMERICANS BECUSE YOU GUYS ARE SO RUDE SO GROW UP DUDE JOY DIVISION TIL THE WORLDS ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @josegrey01 dont take very kindly to you lumping me in with idiots like him. I love Joy Division with a passion its very rare that a band can play with such a passion. Please dont let one ignorant bastard speak for an entire nation. Our president takes care of that/

  • @josegrey01

Hey. I love The Cure & Joy. And I'm american :D

  • @josegrey01 Sadly..you're right. most Americans are rude, self-important assholes...my apologies..

  • @josegrey01 And you're from Chicago............. Stupid little boy.

  • @josegrey01 dude you have to type better, i can't understand you.

  • @josegrey01 This is goin on Your Grammar Sucks ☺

  • @josegrey01 Im american and i agree

  • I used to see these guys at the Pine st. theatre in the late 80"s-Sure miss the original line-up----RIP!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm totally devoted to Joy Division but compared to all the covers I heard this one is probably the best after New order's.

It's not because you consider Joy D as the best of the best (even if it's true) that you have to spit on every other bands just because they did a cover of a song and it's not to your taste.

  • @Kiwiiex Well considering New Order is Joy Division (after Ian Curtis committed suicide, The rest of the band decided to continue making music but change their name to New Order).

  • @bloodangel13 Thanks to you, don't worry i know the whole story of Joy D & New Order ;) but the new order version will never be the Joy division one and following my own opinion New order isn't an after-joy division it's a new band with a different sound but with the same members :)

  • @Kiwiiex I know and your right, Actually according to Bernard Sumner when they tried to what they did in Joy D. but quickly learned that it wasn't the same w/out Ian.

So what they did is re-recorded all the songs but added a more dance/electronic oriented sound.

  • BAD ENGINEERING CANT TOP JOY DIVISION WITH THIS NO MATTER HOW MUCH I LOVE THE CURE LOL

  • This version is better. I don't like Joy Division because every song is the same. plus i can hear the lyrics now!

  • @DamonAlbarnFan fuck you

  • @MustHaveRocknRoll Another reason i dislike Joy Division is that their fans are usually jerks and don't let me express my opinion.

  • @MustHaveRocknRoll he has a point about the lyrics being mixed really low. which is a shame, because they're awesome, generally.

  • when i here this song i like to let my neezies swing to and fro all the live long day :)

  • shhhh the animals rule XD stop being emo about them

  • :O :O :O wtf?!?! LOL!!!!!!

  • lol the first kitten made me giggle, glad i didn't read the comments first!

  • Only The Cure could cover this song so well.

  • @xcheesyxbaconx Not a bad cover and I love the Cure. I grew up with the band.. but.. I think there's even a better cover out there. Look up Broken Social Scene's version. It redefines the song making it almost as original as the original was.. in my opinion..

  • The bear is sad.

  • its a funny kitty like my kittybaby

  • its a funny kitty

  • this video made me LOL so much :PP

  • what's with the animals??? love will tear us apart again... a buffalo???

  • A squirrel at 2.10...

  • I like the presents

  • Never mind the kittens. Major eargasm.

  • lmao puggles!

  • Joy Division and the Cure, great 55555*

  • I love the cover, sounds so anaemic and lifeless.
