One thing you guys didnt get to see in this video... A piezo will never give you feedback, just because its a piezo, and since the note coming out of the speaker isnt the same pitch as the string is vibrating in... You might say "Feedback is a negative thing, isnt it?" but no, in metal, especially live playing, it's essential to my sound to have a little feedback once in a while.
Hey Rob. So...this is a bit late on this one. Can that guitar replicate the Peter Green "in between" sound? I generally use that LP/T/S trinity so I am intrigued to say the least.
Chapps, does this in anyway sound piezo plunky to you?. like the horrible original does?Especially when using peel your face off super HIGH gain distortion?
so, the tuning only changes what comes out of the amp not the strings? so they will stay the same tension but the sound out of the amp will sound as if your tuned to another tuning?
@rickyjshiznit The re-tuning is done digitally, unlike the Gibson Robot where the tuners actually move. So "acoustically" the strings all remain in concert pitch, but what you hear through the amp is the retuned sound. Very clever!!
@VariaxGuitars so does it tune each string seperately so i can do tunings other than standard or is it basically just a guitar with a built in octave pedal?
@AndertonsMusic Well done you guys. I love these videos. We did the same thing for the Sound Samples that will be on our website at the launch of these guitars. I ran through all the models through just a Deluxe set fairly clean. So the amp doesn't color the various models.
@RobChappers but do you still play the same way? ive been curious about this because ive wondered how much of the "drop b sound" comes from the player having to use more force and playing differently than they would on lighter strings in standard tuning (i hope that makes sense). what are your thoughts on that topic? does one sound more like theyre playing drop b, or playing standard tuning, just in drop b? (i sound like a crazy person right now sorry lol)
@FuzzySnuggz Ben Moody (former Evanescence) took 2 JTV-89US guitars out with We Are the Fallen for that very reason. He can do 10 different drop tunings in their set and he loves that it isn't all floppy. He thinks the tone is tighter than if he had big strings dropped to B. :) Fun stuff indeed.
@mitchell797979 No. In our modeling, the first thing we do is pitch detection. So we can then tell the note detect to be any note. It does not change the tuning machines and the change in tuning can happen instantly. So you could write or play a song that has an acoustic in DADGAD and instantly hit the chorus in Drop C. :) Fun stuff.
@Nickelbroken Those look like awesome guitars. This guitar isn't a guitar you would buy instead of another guitar. You buy this guitar because you can play a kick butt guitar that sounds like a paul or an s-type and Acoustic, sitar, dobro, etc. There is also going to be a Custom Shop USA model.
@VariaxGuitars Yeah ok... But I think (just my opinion =D) it's sad that guitars are evolving the digital way... like the Variax. Cuz' like you said, you can make it sound like a les paul or an s-type or anything else ^^. But isn't every guitar supposed to have it's own sound? The Variax just takes the personality of other guitars and so it becomes an all-in-one version of some of the greatest guitars, but I think it still hasn't got it's own personality ^^.
@VariaxGuitars And so the importance of a guitar will switch from a great sound and feel to being able to play the most personality's ^^. That will make owning a les paul les valuable then it is now.
Just my opinion...
But I can't deny it comes in handy with the possibility to droptune it without changing the tention on the strings... ;-)
these seem to have gone from £799 to over a grand in one year, why is that???

you should have used a better amp imo, the drive is pretty bad on the Blackstar

@nathanguitarguru We wanted to use an amp that was pretty basic so that the video was all about the guitar rather than the amp.
