  • after all those years, this song is still growing in it's greatness; cannot last long enough..!

thank you for 'spudding' our musical garden. i'm an admirer of the, specifically , epic songs of fairport; just kept steamin' on the waves, which crescendoes sloth, grieving for "who knows where the time goes"..

  • amazing. Electric Eden book gives the most importance to this song.

  • Deadly !!

  • Maybe their greatest moment, breaking away from convention, from the surface of the sea, and into the eye of the storm.

  • scholarly essay on a spinetingling epic...

  • I like this very mush. I'm searching hard for band and compositions like this:)

  • I had never heard this before, despite being in my 40's. What a fabulous epic of a song. The video complements it brilliantly as well. Take a bow MrSpudtuber and thanks a lot.

  • I've always wondered whether Television wasn't inspired by this great epic track for their song Marquee Moon in 1977.

  • Brilliant pictures married to a brilliant track. Thanks.

  • The picture at 09:28 is frightening but beautiful.

  • Beautiful song and a very interesting description. Thank you!

  • This is great, and beautiful, and rocking, and haunting, and wondrous. It is a thing of divine creation, in that such divinity is bestowed upon mortals to create such works. It is beauty and wonder itself, sung sweetly and rocking us deep within the wells of our souls.

  • thanks for this mate, a beautiful song and great detailed description

  • I just discovered this and I'm glad I did. I was looking for exactly this sort of beautiful music.

  • Thanks for this Mr Spud. Especially liked your excellent essay on the song. Do you recall when a journalist in 1969 suggested , in interview , that the album title was silly. One of the band ( I think RT ) fielded this insolence with "What's silly about it....if you can halfbrick , then you can surely unhalfbrick." . But isn't the instrumental jam magnificent : I never tire of it.

  • AH MAY ZING

  • masterpiece.

  • Not sure who u are MySpudTuber, but I think I love u. Brilliant work. Making a beeline for my Facebook page to share withother friends of Fairport.

  • wonderful.........

  • Beautiful .Sandy is at full power on this one.
