I was thinking quite the opposite way of the recent events in it. The way I see it, the hard staff Toshiro&Rangiku have experienced recently in the story could very well help their relationship to develop even closer later on, since they both are likely to need someone to leen on in order to get over what they've been trough by now, and they have been there for eachother as long as theyve known, so...
