Patti Labelle is the ultimate showstopper; you DO NOT want to take the stage after her and that is a beautiful dress shes wearing. 2:10 - 2:17 is one of the greatest vocal runs of all time; even the choir behind Patti was amazed.

@bsdavis011 You're right, you DO NOT want to take the stage after her - unless you happen to be the late, great jazz singer Sarah Vaughan. I remember this TV special very well and I remember well Sarah Vaughan coming on right after Patti Labelle. Pity her, I thought at the time. Until she opened her mouth to sing. She too brought the house down but in a very, very different way. Not better, but very different.
