  • Junior chemistry???

  • Chemguy you're so awesome it's like you eat 6 tons of plutonium everyday

  • Nice and clear, thank you for being a teacher!

  • Does he have a video for stoichiometry?

  • my chem tech says just swap the charges, i didnt understand WHY we did that till you came in and said how they want to lose, or gain electrons depending on the charge, now i can go in more depth.

    Thanks again.

  • Thank you so much. You make chem pretty easy to understand and exciting at the same time. Videos like your are the reason why I decided to become a bio-chem major. Thanks chemguy!

  • Your instruction is excellent, thank you for posting these videos-- they are extremely helpful!

  • people like you save my future

  • this man is amazing.

  • Thank you so much for these videos!

  • Mr. Chem guy

How do you figure out the formula for compounds?

For example aluminum oxide. How can you tell that it's: Al2O3??

  • @SILLIRABBIT Use the ionic charges!

    Chemguy

  • u r ssoooo helpful!!! thank you for all ur help!

  • Seriously, you are far superior to my chemistry teacher!

I'm actually starting to understand thanks to you :)

  • hi chem guy

i have the ionic formula being Al2 O3.

What would be the name of the ionic compound and balanced ion pairs. THANKS!

  • Doesn't happen, as far as I know, so not to be worried about!

    Chemguy

  • But um what if the subscript of ClO is 5? What do you call it?

  • brilliant teacher! just stop saying aluminium as "a-loom-in-um"! it does my head in! lol its pronounced "al-u-min-yum" . Even the audio preview on youtube pronounces it correctly lmao

  • That's because you're spelling it with the second 'i'. Americans spell it 'aluminum'. Whether or not we're right to do so is another issue entirely, but he's pronouncing it correctly in accordance with American English =p

  • Gee, thanks for that 'thelearnedpig'.

    :P

  • Yeah, if you live in England.

  • aluminum (uh-loom-muh-nuhm)

    british: aluminium (al-yuh-mini-ee-uhm)
