I like this one better than the album. Jimi's obsession with sound sometimes led to the overdevelopment of tunes. I like this one because it still has the r&b sound to the playing that was smoothed-over in the album version. Less is better sometimes. There's like a second rhythm cadence in this version that is the best ephemeral aspect of Jimi's playing.

Stevie Ray plays an outstanding version, one of my favorites. Clapton did a great version in Toronto as well.

Bought the box set the day it came out and immediately fell in love with this raw rehearsal outake. This version simmers nicely until the impassioned solo kicks in with fiery abandon ultimately leaving you wanting more.
