While renting Marvin Hamlish's beach house in Malibu, CA, Eddie trashed Hamlish's white Yamaha grand piano. He threw everything he could find into the piano and raked various items across the strings, including ping-pong balls, D-cell batteries, and even silverware. The small 1-minute, 29-second piece actually comes from hours of tape Eddie made while destroying the piano.
Eddie had the piano fixed and once claimed that Hamlish might not have known about the incident until the song came out.
This haunting instrumental piece was recorded back in 1983, prior to the recording of the "1984" album.
This instrumental piece features Eddie Van Halen playing the strings of a grand piano with various objects including ping-pong balls, D-Cell batteries, knives, & forks.
this was actually recorded in 1983 and was the result of eddie making noise on piano strings with assorted objects. basically this is the death of perfectly good piano. just a little fun fact
@razorslice17 You don't have to dig it, Don't dig it, that's cool, but what is the point of trashing it? Is feeling good so hard? it was his producer idea to put it on the album because he damaged someone piano doing this and had to pay three grand for doing it so his producer said why put it to waste
OK so it's not a real "instrumental", but it's an interesting sound byte and makes the album more diverse. This is audio taken from back in the Roth days of EVH tearing up a piano for six hours and their producer decided that, due to how expensive the recording was, it should make an album cut. Just a little history...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
leave it to EVH to literally make NOISE and call it a song and put it on an album. This is worse than Jimi Hendrix's star spangled banner

This is rubbish, but if you can't understand Jimi's Star Spangled Banner you should probably give up listening to music.
