  • beautiful :D

  • spacibo

  • A perfect 50 liter pot.

  • @songinmyhead1 thank you :)

  • I like how you showed the strength of the handles lol Nice vid

  • Nice variation on the brew pot.

    thanks for the post.

  • Thanks so much for your reply. I will search out the 2" tri-clover fitting. I admit to having a long way to go in sorting all this out in my head.

  • goto (homdistiller org) and have a good long read :P

  • Hi HomeDistiller

I luv the idea of keeping the handles - can you tell me about making a sealed lid for the keg?

I want to use it as a boiler for a home still - I wanna fit a Reflux Tower to the lid.

    Regards

  • dont cut the keg.. use a 2" tri-clover fitting and it will attach directly to the top of the keg... no cutting or welding

  • Kinda makes it hard to put a lid on top though.

  • not really you just need some small cut outs ether side

  • i thought this was a good idea but ran into a major problem. My final pot lost it's durability during the boil, and got extremely deformed. Ive since made 3 more pots, cutting down from the top of the keg, leaving the top edge on all the way around and have had very good results. But who knows maybe my first one was just a weak keg.

  • you may have had an aluminum keg... no good for this you need stainless.. i have never had one of these change shape in any way solid as a rock

  • I thought aluminum was really bad for you.

  • not really that theory has been disprovin to some degree (it supposedly cause Alzheimer's) I'm Aus we don't have Al kegs only stainless steel anyway.. but in the US and some other countries they use Al as well

  • Dis proven long ago.

  • it's not aluminum; it's stainless steel

  • i know the keg i was cutting was stainless i meant the reason crackedfilm's keg lost strength is that his could have been Al

  • @iq147atuofm Aluminum kegs have a liner on the inside. Al kegs are also horrible. They can't put up with the abuse a keg goes through.

  • fill keg with water to reduce slag and eliminate the awful noise

  • like that man, never thought of it . believe i'll be making one of those when i get the chance\

  • thanks for the video! I converted my boiler this way but left my HLT the traditional cut method. very easy to clean!

  • Absolutely brilliant. Wish I had an extra keg. I will be making mine into a boiler.
