@longbeach225 You are so right. As the matter of fact, I've been backing up my files and preparing to send it off to the Dell depot to get the *takes deep breath* touchpad, mouse buttons, audio drivers and webcam fixed.
And I've only had it for a year. *sigh* A pretty, but delicate and fragile machine.
I love your choice, and have been using an XPS M140 lap top for 3 yrs. Yes I have had to call tech support, once for a failed key board. But that is why you buy direct from dell and why you keep your warranty up.
XPS 1330 is kind of a waste... Intel graphics, 667MHz RAM, have to pay to upgrade the processor. If you want to get its specs above the white macbook you'd have to pay at least $999, which is the price of the macbook. If you really want to find a better buy, part for part, get Asus or another non-mainstream company. Asus is predominately for gaming but they have a few lower-end laptops that outperform Dells and HPs that cost $200 more. These lower-end laptops look pretty normal too.
Really? The difference between 667 and 800 are minute and I don't game at all. The Dell came with double the memory and is a pound lighter. Plus, it's Red. Lastly, I got mine for $999--Canadian. The Mac is $999 US.
I know, but I spent my own funds (it feels pretty good not running to mommy and daddy for money). Also, I don't really like how the Studio XPS 13 looks. :/ I don't do any gaming, so the graphics card issue won't affect me that much...I hope.
Yes, laptops are generally more fragile, so I'm surprised that my old one (a Dell Inspiron 6000) survived university and a year of work. However, I do need the portability that desktops cannot provide.
This is how porns begin.

My setup:
a well performing (by laptop standards) hp special edition (had no problems with it, despite HP's rep.)
a super sexy tower running i7 920 that probably outperforms 85% of all home PC's. Total cost = 2700.
1100 when I got the lappy 1.5 years ago,
and 1600 just recently for the tower.

that is ture, my nvidia GPU failed a couple weeks ago (i had not gamed on it in a while, i was on youtube and my screen just went funky)...
-dell Sent a tech over the NEXT DAY and replaced my motherboard.
its a good thing i got that 3 yr. in-home service warranty.

nice choice over the mac. i'm personally not a dell fan, i go for the desktop, laptops are way too fragile.
