  • to finish off the sentence at the end- in the world...

  • this is a TERRIBLE version imo check out the vocal from 'the Kenny Everett Show' it's awesome!

  • Fuck Yeh!

  • Comment removed

  • Bono may play the cunt....

but he's working the organised organizations...

    like AMERICA and RUSSIA.

    THE DISEASE.

  • Was this one of their songs that was played at a techno night club?

  • refused to lipsync?? look at 2:48 when Bono is screaming without the microphone

  • @phewsonfreak it's weird but you're right. this isn't even the studio version, but the vocals are somehow recorded before?

  • I love that U2 refused to lipsync on TOTP. That would have sucked.

  • Notice how there is a fairground ride in the studio (?). You see it from 2.14 onwards. That must have been so weird to be performing with that thing going round just a few feet away. Notice also how Edge was showing no signs of his later baldness. Dave has a full head of hair at this time in his life!

  • I don't know

    I don't know which side I'm on

I don't know my right from left

    Or my right from wrong

    Say I'm a fool

You say I'm not for you

But if I'm a fool for you

    Oh, that's something

    Oh Yeahhh ^_^

  • Freakin Sh#T! (dies) WOOO! ^_^

  • Before the 6 digit sets, they were already the greatest show on earth.

  • Queria estar nesse show ai... demaissssssss!!

  • This is so badly mixed. I'd kill the sound guyhere. It's ok to make the sound sound punchier with more bass and bass drum. But wtf, you can barely listen to Bono.

  • i love THIS u2!!

  • This is live, this is not the album one, awesome!

  • Queria tanto ter visto esse show!!... demaisss!!

  • Bono does his little Mic Jag impersonation

  • Fucking perfect!!!!

    Great song!!

    greatest band!!!

  • Brutal is the word indeed

  • Brutal ;-))

  • This is great, epic band right when they were on the verge of greatness!

  • Go U2, this is so rocky to watch, I can't stop rockin'.

  • Bono have his Johua Tree Look

  • great video! shame about the audience, looks like they came expecting to see Spandau Ballet or the Human League...

  • This looks a lot like a video game

    Awesome song

  • shame they dont do fast songs like this anymore.

  • hello?? vertigo is fast... so is sexy boots!! no??

  • Unfortunately, "Boots" isn't fit to wipe the sweat from this song's brow.

  • ya so how come "hearts" is never played live then??

  • I have a few bootlegs from back in the day where they actually do play THBAO, but, for some reason, it never quite sounds as good as the studio version.

Which is weird because U2 almost always sounds better live than on record.

  • Amen to that! I would have rather heard them play this than "Unforgettable Fire" at Giants Stadium.

By the way, does anybody know if they used a tape for this or performed it live?

  • TOTP always required a taped performance, period. As far as I know, U2 rerecorded Two Hearts at the TOTP studios for this "performance", then mimed to it. I've seen a couple bands not even try to mime to the prerecorded track, which is hilarious and just plain awesome.

  • "Dressed as Freddy Krueger" lol.

Bono threw in another song at the end even then.

  • Great performance, although if memory serves me correctly, after their appearance on this particular show, Two Hearts' sales actually went down, causing U2 to decline further appearances on the show, citing their fans' being the type of people not caring much about what's on Top of the Pops.

  • wow bono on the back nice

  • you cant really dance to this song despite the rhythm, you kind of have to just take it in and listen.

  • I remember watching this or something like it around that time and remember saying to myself, "OMG Who are these guys! They are freaking awesome." At the ripe age of 13, U2 had captured my heart and still do to this day. Even 26 years later, they are still my favorite band. Seeing that it is my birthday today, Rock on Bono!!!!

  • Jesus. None of them were older than what, 23, when this was taped? Unbelievable. People forget what an amazing live band they were/are. I loved this period, back when they seemed desperate to get your attention, like whatever gig they were playing was the last gig they would ever play...like their lives depended on it.

    Awesome.

  • Larry was only 21 then I believe!

    :)

  • @skrason 31 March, 1983

  • A very much underated U2 song

  • I agree!

  • @StevenMonteith So true, I wish they would bring this back into the set

  • Fantastic performance!

  • The audience have no idea what they dancing to.

    u2 in their prime!

They probably enjoyed shakatak or freeze alot more

  • "Freddie Kruger?" was he really trying for that look.

  • U2 my MIRACLE DRUG

  • U2 semplicemente i migliori (simply the best)!

  • Anybody knows the name of the song that Bono is singing at the end of the video?

  • TWO HEART BEAT AS ONE! a CLASSICAL FROM THE "WAR" ALBUM!!!!

  • Chubby Checker's "Let's Twist Again" - I'm not kidding!

  • Ohhh! You're completly right. I would never guess it. It looks so fresh. Only U2 could do that. Thanks.

  • Let's Twist Again

  • "Let's Twist Again"! A Hit in the sixties and eighties I think for Chubby Checker. Bono often sang it during gigs at the time getting the audience to sing a long as well...

  • wow, the energy they had there is so impressive, Wish I was there!

  • una de las mejores canciones de u2, sin ninguna duda.

  • U2 it's one of the best bands all over the rock history

  • i lóve this early stuff. Edge is best!

  • coooooooooooooool!

  • Probably the greatest U2 song ever...it has all the elements...driving drums, soaring vocals, scorching guitar riff and the best bass lines I've ever heard.

  • Simplemente ENERGIA PURA SIN SONAR ROUGH....

U2 ES GENIAL, ES POETICO, ES INSIPIRADOR...

MI BANDA fAVORITA JUNTO A PINK FLOYD

  • i dont want to compare any band to another but to me U2 and the Beattles are the best bands that have ever existed! i mean there words are so deep and poetic unlike other bands that have been around.

  • wow! a totp performance that isnt badly mimed but is actually played!

  • Wow, this is wonderful! :D

  • Wow, great quality and what a great performance. So much youthful energy and desperation.

  • its good quality when i download it at u2torrents and i was expecting it will comeout here at youtube the same,, oh well :\
