  • i want my god damn sandwhich

  • This is so inaccurate its hillarious... it's Annie Kenney not Annie Kennedy.

What has the song got anything to do with the votes for women?

You could have chose Sister Suffragette from Mary poppins... Seriously? HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL?

  • Comment removed

  • yea normal things men can do thats all they wanted right?

so how bout we send the women to war and die

lets sendm to the mines to pick coal

lets send him to do the construction

ya know stuff men do every day that women dont do :)

  • wow .... high school musical's breaking free

  • Well it kind of killed it considering you used "breaking free" ><

  • Thanks suffragetes :) If it werent for you i would be making sandwiches for men all the time and hoovering and basically being a servent to "man" kind

  • And what is your point? Surely educating people about the true nature of history is a good thing? Others obviously think so judging by the ratings the post gets.

Before ranting on about the suffering about women the life of the average man is not that great either. Last time I check over 40 Million were forced into war and killed in the 20th century. Large numbers couldn't vote till 1918 in the UK, long hours in back breaking soul destroying breaking jobs, shorter lives etc etc etc

  • that's cute x

  • The Suffragettes ceased activities at the start of WW1. As part of a political deal Emeline Pankhurst and most others from the movement became part of the campaign to recuit soldiers. 700,000 young British men were killed, the vast majority of which could not vote .

  • Try not to be weak (and lead astray).

  • Great homework. Thanks for the vid.

  • It is forgotten that many men did not have the vote either. Some facts:-

Reform Act 1832:- Resulted in 15% of males having the vote.

Representation of the People Act 1884:- Increased suffrage but still 40% of males still could not vote.

Representation of the People Act 1918:- Universal suffrage for males over 21 females over 30.

Representation of the People Act 1928 - Universal suffrage all over 21.

In photos the policemen arresting the suffragettes did not have the vote either.

  • @richardsbrandonuca

god guy- you posted this on every WOMENS SUFFRAGE vid- these are about the women who fought for our rights- knock it off- i can go on on the tortures women were put through in history- head gears with spikes that covered their tongues- also used to humiliate in public on leashes, men could be unfaithful with their wives but if a woman was - also when married women's property became the mans- education was limited- i do classical figure- women didnt get that till late 1800's

  • It's too bad men who voted for sufferage couldn't look into the future. Had they had that ability, they would have changed their minds.

  • It is so easy to forget what these brave women did for the women of today. Now people can rally naked on bicycles for trying to make us aware of pollution caused by cars and we are only a little shocked and very much amused. What was the sacrifice these women, our great grandmothers made for us?

  • Good video.

My wife's also my life's companion and best friend. She's a believer in equal rights for women and I support her. I can't imagine being a husband and my wife not having the vote.

I feel sure that women's industrious participation in what had been regarded as men's work in the munitions factories and transport during the first war gained them a lot of respect.

  • XD YOU HELPED ON MY TEST TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @pokemonmasterJL Glad I could help ! :]

  • It's interesting that women even in such a hard fight are not capable of violence against people except of course violence against themselves.

Imagine what measures men would have used if they had been opressed in that way for centuries.

  • you helped me a lot on my test

  • @extreemeairsoft Glad I could help :]

  • Would have been nice to mention the women's suffrage movement had been going for over 40 years before the suffragettes.

  • How brave the suffragists really were,in a time that women voting was so alien.

  • you missed out the cat and mouse act

  • Comment removed

  • Well done!

  • Very interesting video. Today, Aug 26, marks the day that women in the USA got the right to vote with the passage of the 19th Amendment.

  • my god why not use "suffragette city" by david bowie as the song and not this shit

  • OH EM EFFING GEE.. Give the song a break, it was for a bunch of stupid year nines okay? use a brain cell and mute the effing song . :)

  • Alice Paul just rolled in her grave for that song.

  • nice vid but not da song

  • Agreed. (Y)

  • Like all millitants they started on violent terms. Vandalising property, assulting police and hurting standbys, but they got what they wanted only after the first world war.

  • "Yes" to Women's Empowerment, "No" to video song.

  • totally agree, but remember I had to make this vid interesting for a class of 12 year olds to watch. so yeah the song sucks, but it suited my target audience. (Y) Lol

  • wow just think - if it wasnt for these women - us women wudnt be able to get where we are today.

    thank you suffragettes!

  • That's not entirely true. They did a lot to make their point, but some historians actually thinks that their brutal way of doing it, might've made the parliament delay women's right to vote.

But I kind of liked the way they did it, they tried to do it the right way at first, and when nobody cared, they just did things the parliament couldn't ignore x) GO SUFFRAGETTES!

  • @MileniumRacer

You must be surrounded by some crappy women. I'm not surprised though, seeing your shitty personality makes it easy to understand why. Like attracts like.

  • @Myview246 I'm thankful, but was it really their fight who changed things or the change the World War brought?

  • I wish you hadn't chosen the song, but I understand the reasoning for it. It does fit well. Nice video.

  • Thank you. I too, wish I hadnt had to choose this song. but I didnt know what other song could fit the meaning behind the video :/ Lol :) x

  • "Deeds not words"- Emmeline Pankhurst

  • Harriet Ackland = Legend.

  • wards, but then her Husband died, and she returned to England where she mourned, but raised her family on her own with a reasonable income.

Years later she married a minister, but she never got a bad word from anybody. A woman of fortitude, MODESTY, resolution, affection, serenity, and Courage.

Which makes Harriet Ackland a Legend in my book, who did her Duty and beyond and didnt have to shout her mouth off in a protest.

Would pankhurst have done the same? Not a chance in hell.

  • well, her husband died too, but she just kept on fighting for women's suffrage! I don't see why that's so bad?

You don't like Pankhurst and Davidson because they didn't do they duties as women??

  • and at the same time looked after her children, now thats a feat to admire. Her commitment was widely applauded and respected. Later on she gave birth to another child, she gave birth outdoors in mud and poor conditions. Afterwards she had a cup of tea, bread and cheese and 20 minutes later was on the march again with the rest of the army. Her nursing was also magnificent, that would of easily matched Nightingale.

Unfortunetly she didnt get a medal, but her husband did as well as pension after

  • Agreed he has gone to far, but there are bigger better Women heroes than davidson and pankhurst.

One of the most celebrated British women was Harriet Ackland, she followed her husband and assisted him during the American Revolutionary War, she looked after her husband and children with a devotion that earned her the admiration of the whole British army at the time.

Her husband during the campaign was severely wounded and he also got ill, but Harriet solely nursed her Husband back to health

  • You're insulting my grandmother, but I guess that you name says it all!

  • you're right. screw this.

  • lol this is helping me with my homework! Thanks!

  • Hey people. I'm kidding. I'm making fun of the Male Pigs and how they think. I'm actually a gay male, and I'm for Everyone's rights. Your patience is well deserving of praise.

  • I hope your wife is okay :) x

  • So she's a whore for being your faithful wife for eighteen years?and go make your own sammitch ASSHOLE.

  • Oh really, well you are just an attention seeker! I bet you are some 15 year old kid trying to rile people! I have a MASTERS degree BEAT that one! We rely off TWO incomes in our household- mine and my fiance's. Thank God my man is not as shallow as you and treats me as he should, as an Equal. That means as a lover and a best friend and an equal partner.

  • well done. i had to do a debate and i had to use them as anexample. it really helped. thanks.

    X

  • and why not?

  • A silent woman is more precious than rubies.

I dont expect you to understand, as you are a different generation, but Women have changed dramaticly over the last 100 years for the worse. Its sad and tragic.

  • what are you saying?"a different generation" your 200 years old?

  • No, but its all a matter of knowing your place, and that has been forgotten over the years. Man also must take some of the blame for women losing their true identity, as they were the ones that allowed women to vote and have equal rights in the first place.

  • we've never had a "place". if we did we would all be cavemen right now.

  • 24878281 why don't you just tell me where my place is exactly!!!!

  • Yes and changed for the better. Like I say, I have a masters degree- beat that one 24878281! Thank God for Emmeline Pankhurst that I am no longer considered someone's legal property. She fought for FREEDOM, not just equal rights!

  • One of the main contributors to all our troubles today.

  • 24878281 you are a sad ignorant person and I weep for you

  • ciao a tutti, sono ITALIANA e mi sono documentata su alice paul e il diritto al voto in america. E' stato bello conoscere un pezzo della vostra storia femminile!!! viva la donne e il loro diritto a vivere la loro LIBERTA good life

  • wow....that is truly outrageous!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

  • great song choice!

  • Aw Thanks :D x

  • Womens rights? MEh... theres bigger issues in the world... cant we do this later?

  • You can do it Whenever you want ;)

  • Seriously, it shocks me how our ancestors had to fight for their right to luce their life like a man .

    I breaks my heart .

I have to do an assignment on womens' rights for phylosofy and I just want to say that I loved the video .

You did a very good job .

  • Great video. The song was perfect!! The scrolling type was a little distracting though...

  • I would also say that Sylvia Pankhurst was just as important as Emmeline and Christabel - she was much more about helping the common woman (working class) and improving their standards. Which ultimately led to her leaving home, living with the lower class and becoming a communist (much to her mothers and sister Christabel's horror)

  • i am doing an assignment about suffragettes right now so this helped a lot

  • aww (: good, Im glad it is helping ! although Im sure most of it can be found through websites in google haha =]

    xxx

  • This video is awesome, it is terrible how men treated women in those days =[ Our history teacher thought this video was great so she showed it to us as we are learning about the suffragettes !!!

    Weldone, 5 starss exxelent job!

  • The song was intended for children aged 12-13 so It had to be appropriate for the targeted audience =] and thank you for the comments =D

  • I have to say Christabel was lovely.

  • God Bless the Beautiful Miss Emily Davison =]

    suffragette power.

  • The first women to be arrested were Christabel Pankhurst and Annie KENNEY - not kennedy.

  • How times have changed! Now fathers have to resort to civil disobedience to be able to see their own children and are turned into modern day slaves when they are forced to pay spousal support to non existent spouses or face draconian punishments.

  • It took the 1918 Representation of the Peoples Act for all men to get the vote in the UK. You had to be a property owner to vote before this. This means that most of the guys in WW1 trenches didn't have a vote. Btw Suffragettes suspended their activities during that war to give out white feathers to males as well as printing pro war literature.

  • Not all of them stopped.

  • vids good, songs pants lol

  • like the video! sorry dislike the song
