I wish they wouldn't have pissed on everything, but I do like the fact that some things started again without the confusion. Really though I think DC just wanted to pull Vertigo and Wildstorm into the primary with a 5 issue story arch (Flashpoint).

Yes, mostly for the original series, which was the first televised science fiction I ever saw. I cut my teeth on it, so to speak.
I also avidly watched the animated series in the early seventies, and read the paperback stories that kept the fandom alive.
I've gone a little farther afield since then, but Trek was my first, which of course one never forgets. :)

I remember watching this as a kid, and being disillusioned by two things:
1) that superheroes (or heroines) would bicker over wages, the same as normal real-life adults, and
2) that Adam West had been replaced as Batman. Whoever was under that cowl was the flattest, most bland actor I've ever seen, then or now.
Having such an issue invade the fantasy world of Batman just ruined it for me.
If they'd argued over forced busing or Vietnam, it couldn't have been any worse.

@stevemichiganman Well, from what I know of Mr. West's life (he was featured on an episode of "Biography" once), after the series ended he distanced himself from it as much as he could, trying with little success to avoid the typecasting curse that had ended Burt Ward's acting career at 19. In spite of occasional bit parts, West never again found steady work and developed a drinking problem it took years to beat.
He probably had the time to appear, but simply couldn't bring himself to do it.

flamingmarsupial...I remember reading an interview with Mr. West, and he did say positive things about the "Batman" TV show. Mind you, the interview was conducted in the mid '90's. By then he must have "come to terms" with the show, and was probably no longer a heavy drinker. Chances are this particular commercial was filmed during the early stages of him trying to "separate" himself from the role.

Some embrace it because it more or less guarantees work for them...others hate it. Some performers that hate it eventually drop out of the business altogether. It can a blessing or a curse, and how the actor responds to it varies according to their personality, lifestyle, eagerness to work, how they manage their finances, etc. Are you a "Trekkie" by chance?
