LOVE Ashley. Love all the Marys I've seen. They're all incredibly talented and very nice. I saw Ashley last weekend and she was VERY good (accent included) and her voice has ALWAYS been phenomenal. Also LOVE Laura Michelle Kelly. Let's cut the negativity and spread love for these wonderful perfomers. They're all wonderful and deserving of these parts. THANK YOU.

this is what the stupid Cameron Mackintosh LTD and disneyonbroadway theatricals have to say about the bad accents in Mary Poppins( I am very annoyed by what they have said and they are not going to even do anthing about it):

The actors are taught to execute a British accent accurately, but it is inevitable some regional twangs may be heard. We are aware of the comments on various social networks and discussion boards, and we do all we can to take into consideration our customers feelings.

Alright guys. Here's the thing... It's getting incredibly irritating and upsetting to see all this negativity. Ashley Brown is incredibly talented. Yes, she has improved on her previously iffy accent, but these tracks were recorded VERY early in the run. Be grateful that I've posted them. They're extremely rare. Just enjoy them and stop being negative.

@powerstar09 yes she has the best voice I think and a lovely pretty face. She added me and a few other friends on facebook so thats a nice way to keep in touch with her. She is so lovely and I adore her french bull dog Eddie Elizebeth Brown. :)

@powerstar09 I have just sent a complaint about the bad dialect in the show to the dialect coach that I found on the internet. Her name is Shane Anne Younts if you want to check her website out. She did all the dialect for the American and Australlian productions of Mary Poppins. She did a good job but the mediSIN is so wrong and annoying plus when I saw the show on the US tour the bird woman prounounced the word tuppence as TOPPONCE which spoilt feed the birds for me. Ashley has improved though

Ashley Brown is so bloody annoying with her terrible fake and far to precise english accent! she does not have a clue how us English/British actualy speak. I agree and think she is making fun of us English. Hate her for that.

welldone yes i very much agree with you she sounds ridiculous ridiculous and double ridiculous and very out of tune if i may say so.

the dialect coach did not do a very good job with any of the actors at all!

it so annoys me because it sounds so wrong and she is the only Mary i know that does the accent totaly wrong!

disney theatricals must must sort this out

@boffinme80 yes I totally agree with you. She bloody does over do it with the accent but only we English seem to of noticed that. The americans stupidly think that we english actualy talk/talked like that but we never did. Ashley Brown is just making a fool of herself by over doing the accent and saying medisin and tosk instead of task. She also sings practically poffect instead of perfect. Shes a stupid actress really. The dam dialect coach should be bloody well sacked and hung by her toes!

I just think she's a bad choice for Mary Poppins.

Her accent is so annoying and everyone else seemed to tone their accent down, just not her. I just find it very offensive. To me it sounds as if she's actually taking the mick rather than she's trying which it doesn't sound like it.

Yeah I agree, some casting directors don't know what they're doing. They put in someone who's completely wrong for the role.

@alicesnowbulb I think he did, he said somewhere in an interview that he tried to persuade Ashley to tone down the accent as it sounded overdone but the director said she had to be overly posh as that's what Mary Poppins is like. Well Mary Poppins is actually a British character, not an American trying to fake an accent -_-

Julie Andrews never sounded that posh and neither did Laura Michelle Kelly. I heard the fans say she overacted as well, so I guess she's not one of the most popular.

@boffinme80 ive sent a complaint to the dialect coach about the over precisness in the show like mediSIN and tosk for task etc.The dialect coachs name is Shane Ann Younts so ive sent her an email telling her how annoyed I and other British Mary Poppins fans are with the bad dialect she has given the American and Australlian production cast members. Ashley Brown has improved with her accent since this recording but she is still a little too precise with certain words and the accent is still false

Ashley Brown has a TERRIFIC voice!

Listen with an open ... ear! She sounds wonderful. I don't care how she says "Medicine" ... She can't be wrong; isn't she Mary Poppins after all.

I would not say "Rock it, girl!" (I am too old and French) but the thought is here! Perfect in every way!

i have seen all 3 Mary's and I must say I prefer Scarlett Strallen she TOTALLY rocked it! Rebecca Luker is always fabulous, and idk if that is Katherine Doherty on here, but if it is, I know her! so rock it girl!

A friend of mine found this CD for me at the Broadway flea market. It's a sampler CD of 8 songs that was given to Tony voters. Due to the lack of wins, the OBCR was never released... =[ (But the cast is great here!)
