  • I aggree! Finnish & saami are the best!

  • this is the most beautiful language in the world

  • Pooooo

  • Finns are wonderful nation...

  • вот и калина...

  • Wonderful Finnish Music" As a young child, she was a member of VÄRTTINÄ, too. Hopefully, there will be a CD soon

  • Thank you Europe and surrounding countries for saving me, an American, from the 1000's of radios stations playing Enimem (sp), Taylor Swift, and Linkin Park on merciless, unending cycle.... This truely is music.

  • @Nightweaver5

Wholly agreed... from Brazil, I say the same - perhaps for some people like us the Voice of the Origins, the Blood, just speak louder within us than what happens around us, on our immediate surroundings. In general, I live and breathe the Old World, it just saves me from a meaningless life among a "people" that is just a bunch of unconnected persons without a sense of their past or memory. THIS TRUELY IS MUSIC.

  • suomi on mahtava, i don't understand the song but it is sung beautifully

  • I just love my native language. This song is so beautiful.

  • @thexXxHutsinda , hmm strange language like mine (Hungarian). We are language islands the Hungarian, Finn, and Bask. I listenng this song...have the feeling I understand, but not at all.

Check this song here in youtube, what do you think? NOX video - "Százszor ölelj"

  • @derekutca both Suomi and Hungarian are of the Finno- Uralic linguistic group but are extremely far removed there are some phonetic similarities, however there are so many differences that the two languages sound familiar to native speakers of both, but cannot be understood by native speakers of the other.

  • dont understand it but sounds great

  • Awesome!

  • szerintem is.

  • Finnish people, culture and folk musics are much more beautiful than their Viking neighbours! Finno-Ugric people are the real owners of Scandinavia region. But Vikings are just blonde Iranians who regard themselves as the best Europeans vainly.

  • @KutluAkBakshy Of course and freemasoners and aliens try to invade Japan...

  • @KutluAkBakshy Hail to odin

  • @Frejadisa Both Turkic Tengri and Finnic Ukko fuck your Odin.

  • Kalana perussma Voleken Grtenn! Vefossonsa! Vrakalla!

  • absolutely beautiful music, absolutely beautiful woman.

  • what the!???? this sounds like chinese language and music LOL i guess scandinavians really do have hunnish mongolian origin, ps. its proven by their dna

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012 I am sorry, but it seems to me, you are not quite aware of what you said

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012 Scandinavians have not any mongolian origin and any blood relationships. Moreover, mongolians and scandinavians are two different races. Otherwise, all the people in this Earth have the same origin, it is also proven by scientists

  • @Asfadel999 u are wrong eastern europeans including russians, finnnish, ukranians, etc test positive 4 oriental blood, have u forgot alot of present day russians are oriental etc

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012

"test positive for oriental blood". I want to do this test!

  • @Nimnimn half of the finns have oriental blood through mothers side, proven

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012 The latest genetic studies of Finns (as well as others) are surely interesting. The picture they give about the gene distributions and thus past transfers and movements is complicated and 'patchworky - very intriguing and surprising - e.g., there is a close genetic connection with the Netherlands.

However, the way you speak using 19th century concepts, such as 'blood' and seem to tie genes with culture - reveal the fact that you are clearly not up to the level of discussion.

  • There is something i'm forced to say Pauliina Lerche burn my eyes with her beauty i'm extremely in love hum ...

  • She looks elfin and exotic in the picture.

  • Wow! What a great and original song!! :) I love all these interesting reinterpretations of traditional Karelian folk music (Värttinä, Sari Kaasinen, Pauliina Lerche..).

How is the surname Lerche pronounced in finnish, by the way??

  • BETTER THAN JUSTIN "GAY"BER!!

  • @misticpunk1993 i cant even escape people mentioning him on Finnish folk music videos, seriously burn in hell

  • kaunis!!

  • mahtava biisi! ihan mahtava kuunella tätä

  • Is this girl a klingon ?

  • @TheCerberusInferno are you? keep your comments to yourself.

  • Can I steel her costume? :D

  • Love Pauliina and her little sister(Mimmit is the name of their band)Lyrics please...?

  • Undescribable..... I think I just fell in love with Scandinavian folk all over again! ♥

  • @InfernalChaos77 Like wise :D

  • lyrics please! :)

  • haha this sounds chinese but i love this song!

  • @iloveyou8forever8 Does it? o.0 Not to my ears, but I sort of see what you mean:)

  • Nice!

  • what kind of muscial instruments are being used in this song?

  • to end all disputes about the attire, she wears modernized (stylized if some prefer that term) Karelian clothing. I would not call them authentic due to coloring and embroidery she chose but it generally keeps with our traditional folk dresses. Same applies to her jewelery. As she is from Finnish Karelia all her clothing bears a touch of Finnish style, hence the possible lack of authenticity. Or perhaps she just did not wish to bother herself:)

  • the main theme are loosely Russian words. This seems to be a very distant relative to a Russian folk song, "kalina and malina". (Viburnum and raspberry )

  • Is sounds like an African music. Her dressing is typical of a Balue people in Cameroon.

  • @TheKingsmann I think that it is a testament to how similar we all are as humans, and even though some cultures vary wildly we are all the same in some basic way.

  • @Thedude1344 I think its a matter of habit rather than culture. The culture is what makes the difference and the only habit can tell that even Humans are as diverse as plants. But for her music I think she is good and, I like her she is so cute.

  • @TheKingsmann It is also viking garb, the apron and the tunic like under garment with the slit are typical. I think she modernized the fabric which makes it look exotic :)

  • @zud14 The language is Finnish-Karelian, a sub-language of Finnish. The Karelians themselves are hybrid people of Balts and Finns that, live divided berween Finland and, to a greater part, in Russia. The name Kaalina is probably a Russian borrowing.

  • @mdoelling Good thing I saw that comment - I was just about to ask what the langauge was, as I asked an internet friend on mine in Helsinki what the words meant and she said "I don't really know - it sounds Karelian, which is sort of Finnish" :p

  • her dress looks somewhat Indian

  • @ShiningKera Probably more Hippee chique.

  • The dress is called feresi, it is a traditional folk costume used in eastern Finland and Karelia. Nothing Indian about it.

  • Actually that paisley pattern of the fabric is Indian - the teardrop in the center is a stylized mango, if I remember correctly. So that would make sense of the interpretation.

But the dress style is as you say very traditional to Finland.

  • Thanx for uploading. Great Music!

    Happy holidays!

  • what means "Vot I Kaalina"? sounds a bi like russian these 3 words

  • @TheMetroRock

in russian "Vot i kalina" means something like "and here viburnum is"

  • Its karelian i believe

  • I love culture, so good

  • saw her perform this song live once, awesome! thanks so much for uploading!

  • great

  • 2.

Tulkaa tytöt tanssimahan, nuoret neiot notkumahan

    harvoin yhtehen yhymme, tanssimahan tahomme

taas on kuukauet kuluneet ja viikot monet vierineet

kun talviset tähtiset yöt, yhdessä ne valvoimme

    Vot i kaalina....

en käy enää liinapäänä, mennyt olen miehenä

ei oo naitu Marjaakaan, jo Minja lasta liekuttaa

    Vot i kaalina....

  • @multipena2 pitää olla "mennyt olen miehelään" - ei ole kysymys sukupuolenvaihdoksesta ;)
