  • Great guitar, great guitarist...

  • good demo

  • thank you for the demo, it has a nice fat tone. does not sound muddy like an all mahogany (without a thick maple top) guitar. how about its workmanship, electronics and tuners quality?

  • Olá, estou pensando em comprar exatamente esta guitarra. O que você pode me dizer sobre o timbre dela... Alguma peculiaridade? É versátil?

  • YOU RIGHT SINGLE COIL ARE THE BEAST FOR CLEAN

  • are these stock pickups?

  • John,

    Are those the stock pickups?

  • These don't come with a single coil tap as far as I know. I would like to put P-Rails in mine, I like the single coil/p90 tone better than humbuckers. Just the same, its awesome.

  • I like to play with my thumb over the top for some chords. It took me a little time to get used to the wide fat neck but honestly, its easier to play because its more like a classical neck in some ways. Lots of room to move around. Love it, wouldn't change a thing.

  • Nice, the Korina is awesome. I almost got that one but went with the vintage natural.

  • Hi there! Since the guitar's been modified, are the pickups original in the first place? Any idea what pickups these are? Or are they stock?

  • why does the site not specify in the single-coil tap? Thats amazing!

  • I spent about an hour yesterday with one of these in a local Guitar Center. What a nice guitar! Great neck and tuners. Fairly lightweight -- I'm guessing around 7 lbs. Comfortable because of the tummy cut and slight forearm cut. No coil tap -- finally figured you have to do that yourself. The pickups seemed fairly hot -- like around 9k or so... Really liked this guitar... now I have to get one..

  • I'm curious to hear this guitar with different pickups. I would love a korina guitar one day and I love the PRS wide-fat necks.

  • Korina is a bright sounding wood, so with all due respect, I would not consider this is a "warm" sounding guitar. Even when you opened up the neck pickup I could still hear the bright Korina tone. If people want warm, they should stick with a standard heavy Mahogany body, not lightweight Korina. Great guitar though!

  • @basbavaa try turning your tone knob down if you havent already. quite warm indeed

  • is the wide fat neck really that hard to adapt? what's your feel to it?

  • It's very comfortable. I literally just got this guitar a few days before I did this vid and it felt like an old friend.

  • Guys,

Sorry for all the post. BUT this guitar does NOT come with coil tap in stores. Nothing against John, but I just had to cancel my order because it did not have the pull pot for the single coil options.

  • Sorry you all. Mine came with the coil tap.. but I'm not the first owner. I apologize for mis-leading anyone. Regardless.. it's a killer guitar and an easy mod. I'll get my facts straight on the next one.

  • @johnbohlinger I would assume these are not stock pickups as the stock ones on PRS SEs are usually not splittable.

  • I'm a little bummed. I just bought this guitar an hour ago because of your video. BUT like the guy says below... No one mentions the pull pot on the pickups. Is that a demo model?

  • what little combo are you playing out of?

  • Great video. It's really helped me. Im in the market for an affordable but decent guitar, & this one was on the list & this video has made me decide to check one out. A couple of questions. This one was asked earlier but you never responded: was the coil tap included new? It's not mentioned on the website or in the uk guitarist mag review! Also is that USA PRS locking tuners you have fitted and would you recommend I do the same? Every PRS SE guitar ive tried had tuning issues!

    Cheers

  • My Soapbar SC has very, very stable tuning (and sounds fantastic). A SE Custom hardtail I had a few years ago had major tuning issues. G and B strings were always drifting. Maybe luck of the draw?

  • Great! Finally a guitar i can afford!

Is the coil tap included in the standard or is it an add-on?

  • I just looked at the beginning of the vid again and see that the switch is on the tone control...

  • Yes.. it's a push pull tone control that splits the coils. Sounds great.. not sure if you can tell from my flip vid.

  • It splits or taps the coils like a Mira?

  • Right. Best of both worlds.

  • Thanks for the reply.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear with my original question. Are the pups split, i.e. one coil and therefore 60 Hz buzz? Or are they tapped with both coils active but reduced windings, as PRS pups usually are, with little to no 60 Hz buzz?

  • the single coils are surprisingly 60 hz clean. I don't know how they did it but it works.

  • They must be tapped then. Looks like I'll be going to the geetar store tomorrow and ordering one. Thanks for your demo and help!

  • John... where is the single coil switch? Is it in the volume control? I looked at these online and nowhere does it mention you can switch the humbuckers to single coil..

  • I can't find that anywhere either. Not even on the PRS website.

  • yeah these look great, I was quite impressed when I heard they were coming out. People are gonna love this good job!
