Does anyone know where I can get this exact version of this song? They play this exact song on the radio every now and then, but cant find it anywhere?? What album is it on? can it be downloaded as a last result??
Everytime i hear this i think of the movie ''Rainman''. Theres a scene when its raining and their stuck in a cheap motel and they play this for a few seconds.
Eric is a Brit, but he has done a lot for the Tulsa sound. JJ Cale a Tulsa native wrote this song, and Eric was known to have an all Tulsan band in the 70's and of course he recorded "Tulsa Time". I love this version of the song.
Eric Clapton is the greatest musical entertainer of ALL Time!! I have always loved this version of After Midnight.....02:00 to 02:45, Man, gives me chills up and down my spine!!!! He is like massively talented on soooo many levels. :-)
I formed my band in UK in 1985 and we called the band After Midnight after Eric's version of the JJ Cale song. My friend Alan Clark of Dire Straits plays keyboards on this version of the song. On his way back to London after recording the song, Eric sent me a message written on a Concorrde menu.

Of all the various ways Slowhand has spun J.J. Cale's 'After Midnight' I have always liked the Michelob version best, Absolute up and in your face plutonium power pumped 4/4 Rock n' Roll!! ;)
From what I've heard, this version was recorded for a Michelob Light commercial. It was so popular he released it as it's own entity. Anybody else hear that? I do remember it being on the commercial, but which came first? By the way, I like this one better than the original.
@auralconcepts I think you're right on that. it was a commercial first. Probably Eric got people from everywhere constantly asking him about that. The first time I ever heard this was probably a commercial during a football game. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if this wasn't a Super Bowl commercial. But I can't remember for sure.

Not to say this is a bad song, clapton rocks, but it's definitely not the best rendition of the song. This version was recorded for a beer commercial. The Original clapton version has a strong boogie feel, which was intended for the song when it was written.
please check out my son...named after Eric Clapton...primussux (channel) and theDIMENSIONchannel (channel) originals and covers...guitar player, singer, songwriter...very talented :) thanks:)))
No shit, I remember this Michelob commercial, first time I ever heard this rendition of a classic and it's every bit the equal of the original, great style and sound.
@LesCrapio How do know that it was all recorded in one take? I don't mean to sound critical at all, I'm just wanting to know how can you tell how many rep's it took to produce the final cut. What clues are there in this song? The reasoning I'm asking is that I'm a aspiring musician myself and I'm just trying to build up my ear.
he is a fuckin bad boy mother fucker playin this tune . just teachin myself this on my strat . pissin next door off, they rent i own , sure they will get to like it. at 4 am with a bottle of jim beam in side me, good enough for eric , good enough for me. long live the strat.
Good as the 1960s version with the band was, THIS one beats it! This one's the best! I've often said that remakes are a risky business, BUT WHEN the artist HIMSELF remakes his OWN song, usually the remake's better. Thanks much!
