I wouldn't say that USA days are over. There is a lot of young talent in the US. Of course the 100 and 200 champs are not going to be from the States every Olympics or World Games. But if its not this coming Olympics (which I think Bolt will dominate) some one from the states will be back on top. There are just too many teenagers and early 20 year olds running in the 10.2 range or better in the 100 and 20.5 or better in the 200.

I wouldn't say that USA days are over. There is a lot of young talent in the US. Of course the 100 and 200 champs are not going to be from the States every Olympics or World Games. But if its not this coming Olympics (which I think Bolt will dominate) some one from the states will be back on top. There are just too many teenagers and early 20 year olds running in the 10.2 range or better in the 100 and 20.5 or better in the 200.

I think Bolt is a very tremendous talent,maybe much more than Powell.
I don't know anyone who ran 200m in 20"58 at 15 !!!!! Bolt is really his name!!!!! But also I'm sure it's impossibile to run so well and so fast whitout doping. I don't believe a human being can run at 12 m/s from 60 to 100 meters. Even in the case of a phenom like Bolt. In any case,Powell is still the best:he can run in 9"65 at sea level!!!! Mr Bolt is a phenomenon. He has already joined the pantheon of greats: Coe, Lewis, Bubka, Powell, Moses. He's going to be the outstanding star of the 2008 Olympics, methinks.

Us americans are slowly becoming obsolete in sprinting and long distance. Eventually there gonna go for under 9 seconds in the 100 meters. That would be like over 30 mile per hour.

Drug usage, selective genetics specifically for the sport, the fact that no one even broke 10 until the last few years, all make me think it's possible in the next hundred years or so.
