Most, I don't know. Many, I think are paid not to grow certain things at certain times. Those subsidies should end, in my opinion. Maybe some subsidies kept available for small farmers in a drought or a flood or something. Not an expert on that.

Health insurance is expensive because govn't is limiting competition. You are not allowed to get cheaper insurance from a company in one of the 50 states and use it in your own state because of govn't regulations.

Um they would monopolies if Congress didn't pass the regulations and mandates that allow them to. Our problem stems from lobbyist. Government already sets the prices for 1/2 the healthcare sector and controls production and consumption through regulation and mandates. Most of which benefit the Healthcare Industry at consumers expense. The gov side has artificially low premiums while the private has artificially high premiums because of gov. Only a true free market could adjust to lower premiums.
We may have a private market but private isn't free market when the Government calls all the shots. Consumers do not drive healthcare prices Government, Insurance, Hospitals and Doctors do. Consumers are clueless to real healthcare cost. We no longer even see itemized bills. Consumers over use the system driving cost up, Doctors over use the system because of liability issues, Insurance sets higher premiums because they can, there is little competition within any city or state.
Government reimbursement rates are low and Government allows the private side to charge much higher then cost, people who can afford insurance don't buy it but use the system, people who qualify for a Gov. plan but won't sign up use it, non-citizens use the system which all drive up cost. Only 7% want insurance but can't afford it. Spending 2.5 trillion for 7% and not dealing with the issues of why health cost are so high is ludicrous. Expanding a failed system is plain stupid.

Scott Brown no more represents the American people's voice on this issue than Barrack Obama's. The American people do not have a single united viewpoint on this issue. That is why it is so hard to reach consensus. Regardless, Americans will pay either way for their action or inaction. They will have to figure out which will costs them more. But I am smart enough to realize that such a radial change would upset many people who like their employer-based insurance. And you need a living wage first before you can pay into a savings account. It comes down to whether we think emergency room care is more cost effective than an insurance plan. Emergency room care is not a cost effective way to treat the uninsured.
Tort reform will lead to a reduction in defensive medicine, with all its' associated costs. Not to mention the actual savings resulting from the reduction frivolous lawsuits encouraged by penalities for bring one in the first place

Every other industrialized nation has figured that out.... From the very start the free market will discriminate against sick people... Most, I don't know. Many, I think are paid not to grow certain things at certain times. Those subsidies should end, in my opinion. Maybe some subsidies kept available for small farmers in a drought or a flood or something. Not an expert on that.

Health insurance is expensive because govn't is limiting competition. You are not allowed to get cheaper insurance from a company in one of the 50 states and use it in your own state because of govn't regulations.
Competition reduces prices for consumers. Everyone knows monopolies and oligopolies are bad, especially if it is govn't.

Um they would monopolies if Congress didn't pass the regulations and mandates that allow them to. Our problem stems from lobbyist. Government already sets the prices for 1/2 the healthcare sector and controls production and consumption through regulation and mandates. Most of which benefit the Healthcare Industry at consumers expense. The gov side has artificially low premiums while the private has artificially high premiums because of gov. Only a true free market could adjust to lower premiums.

We may have a private market but private isn't free market when the Government calls all the shots. Consumers do not drive healthcare prices Government, Insurance, Hospitals and Doctors do. Consumers are clueless to real healthcare cost. We no longer even see itemized bills. Consumers over use the system driving cost up, Doctors over use the system because of liability issues, Insurance sets higher premiums because they can, there is little competition within any city or state.

Government reimbursement rates are low and Government allows the private side to charge much higher then cost, people who can afford insurance don't buy it but use the system, people who qualify for a Gov. plan but won't sign up use it, non-citizens use the system which all drive up cost. Only 7% want insurance but can't afford it. Spending 2.5 trillion for 7% and not dealing with the issues of why health cost are so high is ludicrous. Expanding a failed system is plain stupid.

But I am smart enough to realize that such a radial change would upset many people who like their employer-based insurance. And you need a living wage first before you can pay into a savings account. It comes down to whether we think emergency room care is more cost effective than an insurance plan. Emergency room care is not a cost effective way to treat the uninsured.

The healthcare bill has been resoundingly rejected by the public and shares a polling rating with Congress at around 30% approval. Do the figures yourself. Not many young people look at Senate races as important as presidential races. Even less with Govr. I'm 38 and have voted for Govr maybe 3 times. I gurantee you if ppl took the Mass, and Governor races serious like the president. They would have Dems in the Mansions now, and the senate. However, I'm glad they lost, because this will bring down their over confidence plus it educated a lot of ppl about reconciliation. I had no idea Bush used it so many times for bullshit.

Here's the way it is. The majority of the people in Congress support Obama's proposals. This means, Congress votes, it passes, and end of story. The truth is, we don't have to be bipartisan. Bipartisanship would've been a nice bonus, but the DNC leadership DOES NOT have to comply. The GOP lost its chance to negotiate. We can do whatever we want until November, and that's just the truth. All you can do now is run against us and vote in November.
