  • Great guitar and I bet you can sing better than you give yourself credit for, loved your Spancil Hill too by the way, been practicing it myself, but the video recording tells me I cant sing, cant play guitar, can't even get the right key until somewhere in the second verse, still that wont stop me practicing:}

  • @leaba Thank you very much. As long as you are enjoying it keep right on playing and singing.

  • Best cover on youtube ! Great work :)

  • @sahilcc7 You're very kind, thanks very much.

  • Awesome

  • @franzschokobroetchen Well, thank you very much!

  • You got some serious skills man but i think its made quite messy because the streets of london has a huge amount of notes and if you speed that up alot... just saying but awesome played!

  • @MyNameWasntAvailabl3 Thanks for your kind comment. You point is well taken. I do indeed add extra notes in Streets of London - I guess this is because I don't (can't) sing and yet I want to somehow make it interesting, perhaps I overdid it.

  • How comes both songs have the same rythm? Bob Dylan's version was on his second album in 1963 I think. In what year came the Streets of London?

  • @eovan Streets of London was recorded by McTell in 1968. The two songs are quite similar, both are in 4/4 time but Dylan sings his song faster than McTell sings his. Because I made a medley out of the two I had to match the pace of the songs so I chose to speed up Streets of London. Neither song is entirely original. Dylan borrowed the melody from elsewhere as he did with many of his songs. The chords of the verse of Streets of London are almost identical to those of Pachelbel's Canon.

  • This brought back fond memories. Thanks for the pleasure you made.

Greetings from the coast of Germany !

  • @tubephobia Thanks you for your nice comment, glad it meant something to you.

  • very tasty finger picking there! :-) nice!

  • Hi Egmond. Wonderfully fluid playing!

A friend of mine used to play Streets of London all the time, but I haven't heard it for years. Things come around...

    Happy new year to you!

  • hey,

    that´s great.

can you send me the taps or the notes ?

    kim

  • @KimmiXD1 Thanks for you nice comment. I'm afraid I haven't written out the tabs for either of these pieces, but an internet search might find something.

  • at 2:37 in your medley you play a nice little lick, is that in the streets of london song? or did you improvise?

  • @Niteboy6 That little lick is part of "Don't Think Twice it's Alright". I took it form Chet Atkins wonderful version which also is on YouTube (it's listed in my favourites). Basically it's an A minor chord played at the fifth fret (so it uses the Em shape moved up 5 positions) with a little twiddle added.

  • Thanks Ulichamp. Yes,I think I do play it a little fast. Even If i start off slow I find myself speeding up . . . must get a metronome.

  • very well played! really enjoyin it!

could you tell me how you practiced the chet atkins picking pattern?

  • Hi issjut, thanks very much for your nice comment. I learned fingerpicking, long before the invention of the internet, from a variety of sources, books, records (LPs we used to call them) and by exchanging licks with friends. Now there are youtube lessons and tabs available on the internet which today really is a very rich source of intructional material
