  • VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIOUXSIE IS THE REAL PUNK DARK DIVA,,,,,karen o and anothers make a copy of her........

  • bad

  • I was born in 1998 and I LOVE this song

  • my new fav cover version. what a performance

  • best tune ever, by the best band ever

  • I FFFIIIN LOVE THIS WOMAN!!

  • So I just said come in but is this the way you entrance. Welcome my dear and watch out for the dogs.

  • thats not true garbage is awesome and courtney love kills it oh yeah the cranberries are really good 2,Natalie merchsnt even though she seems like a beatch has an amazing voice.

  • Smith temporarily replaced McGeoch when the latter left/was kicked out of the band - then they toured Australia where I saw them : who knows, maybe this was the concert. They were electrifying but I was disappointed at having missed seeing McGeoch yet again: he dropped out of Magazine just before they toured in 1980 !

  • MartyredxMaiden is right, sadly.

  • Im in love with this woman!!

  • The best version of this song.

  • I take it this was around the time of Blue Sunshine?? or did Robert Smith often play with them live?? :D

  • @MadRKH He first played with them in '79 when the Cure were supporting them and the guitarist and drummer left the band in mid-tour. Robert played one set with the Cure and then another with the Banshees. He later joined the band and somehow juggled that with being in the Cure!

  • Very excellent stuff. So many excellent memories. She has a style that's been copied, but never matched.

  • fuck this cover.....i love the 80s, 70s, 60s and 50s.....but this one? i dont know why u guys love this...i just hate it...

  • @kielego I like Dear Prudence a lot, but this is too much screaming, and not enough singing.

  • I love how naturally powerfully dark and mysterious she is. Not that excessive, "look at how strange and dark i am" like that wannabe Manson, Lady Gaga. Siouxsie is 100%

  • @harbingerofgiggles - she's probably a Succubus, just like Kate Bush. No more need I say.

  • so much fist pumping in that crowd

  • Fuckin' sexy, powerful, beautiful, and mesmerizing. Probably crazy as a shit house rat, though.

  • thats a real, powerful voice. we dont get this kind of performance from a woman anymore. now we just get half naked bimbos squeaking about unoriginal crud. bring back the 80s. bring back punk and new wave!

  • @MartyredxMaiden Or shemales like Mr Angela Gossow.

  • @MartyredxMaiden Adele?

  • @hearditman Adele is a hack

  • @MartyredxMaiden go to a PJ Harvey gig - restore your faith in music it will

  • Just proves how you can be alluring or mesmerizing without shaking your arse into the camera. The voice, the attitude and everything else the poor girls trying to make it on MTV lack. My god! Siouxsie's just from another fuckin' planet! Prolly the only woman I'd ever go straight for.

  • She could be a Manson Family Girl....LOL !!

  • i think this is the best cover of helter skelter, far better than U2's.

  • @ishiiny lol fuck u2

  • goose bump stuff!!

  • creepy... loved it :O

  • como desafina

  • If that isn't a hell of a powerful voice. I don't know. You can feel the energy from her. AMAZING!!!

  • robert smith <3

  • ah i had the double LP of this concert on vinyl.

  • JESUS

  • her VOICE is amazing and powerful and clear ... tremendous!

  • She is one of those remarkable May 27th Geminis. the breadth of her talent, creativity and boundless energy shall not find an end in this life. Her passion and dedication to her work and her fans has always been an inspiration to me.

  • Comment removed

  • Probably, as he played several times with Siouxie

  • is that robert smith on guitar?

  • Doing a cover of Helter Skelter is more of a challenge than a tribute.

That said, Siouxsie (especially in The Creatures) did/does a lot of covers... songs she just wants to perform and thinks an audience will enjoy. Nothing wrong with that.

  • I love covers, good or bad, they pay due respect to some of the best songs out there. Im a massive White Stripes fan because of all the great covers they do.

  • bob on guitars...

  • I don't know. I'm a Beatles fan and I like it. Imitation is not flattery it's just flattery. HELTER SKELTER DEH NEH NEH NEH NEH!!!!

  • love it

  • Charlie Manson sighted helter skelter as a reason for his killings, the song had taken on a sinister aspect for allot people since then, she was probably aware of this, and brings in a manic element interesting cover.

  • and robert smith on guitar ... priceless

  • This Video Gave Me Chills- She's Absolutely Amazing !!- Always !! <3<3<3

  • I'm a woman and even I have a crush on Siouxsie Sioux.

  • wow, very heavy!!!

  • The banshees at their best.

  • They're jamming. I like Pat Benatar's cover better: well the vocals anyway.

  • Thumbs down if you can't stand that someone linked to this from a Motley Crue video.

  • HI, I'm agree with the comments said before, I'm think this is one of the best version of this song... I like the drums and the powerful voice of Siouxie Sioux

  • Of all the covers I've heard of all the songs I've listened to (and I seem to actively seek out covers) I have to say that this is one of the best I've ever heard. Helter Skelter is supposed to be raw and violent and energetic. The song isn't about love or some girl after all. It's about drug abuse and alcoholism.

  • i understand why siouxsie and the banshees did this cover the way they did , and i love the band , but this cover is imo not their best work , oh well, keep rocking siouxsie !!!

  • @lorndarken

Gotta disagree here...I just love the raw power of this track and the way it builds up to an ear wrenching crescendo....lovely noise and screaming plus great to dance to

....each to their own though I guess :-)

  • Siouxsie didn't use sex appeal! You may have a point. She certainly projected the female who can not be attained. I think she was the first woman to wear thigh boots on a satellite broadcast. I know the punks of Cardiff spat on her and she didn't like them for that. No wonder Cardiff was listed as one of the ten worst cities in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @Pantagruella Fucking liar, I was at the both shows at Sophia Gardens Cardiff 1979 and 4/8/81 and Siouxsie didn't get spat at..If she did, then what makes you so sure it wasn't by some prick from Bristol?...What do you fucking know?..You weren't even born in 1979...I think you've got a chip on your shoulder, maybe because more bands play Cardiff rather than Bristol...Bristol has been voted the second worse City to live...Jealously comes into mind here..

  • @vincewood1 I don't personally believe that Cardiff is one of the worst cities in the world. As it happens I do like Bristol. I don't know, who did the spitting in Cardiff. Maybe as you say, they were from Bristol. Siouxsie asked the people to stop spitting. They didn't because they thought it was the thing to do. All those bands who used to invite spitting, got tired of it in the end. I don't think Siouxsie ever went back to Cardiff. Ask Debbie Dirt what heppened, if you don't believe me.

  • cont'd-i just feel like that's what's lacking today. either the music is so utterly bland and they need something extra to captivate or it's always overdone and you get distracted by the ridiculous add-ons. siouxise had that balance.....she had actual talent and a real vision.

  • btw,i must express a little disdain. i sit here and i watch sioux and i just get so aggravated with today's performers(outside maybe pj harvey or bjork).....i just feel like there was actually a time when performers didn't need theatrics or over-stylised silly props to engage an audience. siouxsie was theatre all on her own and i miss that a lot. and when was the last time there was an artist like her who not only was a vivid poetess, great voice but also a fantastic performer?

  • @scottjhnsn I've got to say (gets ready to be flamed) that ppl now compare Toyah Wilcox to Siouxsie but IMHO she was just a sad imitation. BTW no disrespect to the Beatles (they were geniuses) but I preferred the Stones or the Who.

  • @scottjhnsn I read an article somewhere where it said Siouxsie was unique in that she didn't use her sex appeal to get sales - no tits out. It was all about the music.

  • @lewisner hah. i think there is a picture with her in a cupless fetish bra at the beginning of her "career". but that was avat-garde (i.e. punkj), i believe. :P

  • @lewisner well, except that she did get her tits out quite regularly, as part of her art! She has always been a contradiction- not classically beautiful, but astoundingly sexy, always playing by her rules. Gotta love Siouxsie

  • @TheLexyboy Yeah but not in the same way as L*** G*** for example.(tits out I mean) Or even like Madonna.

  • @lewisner exactly, they could only aspire to what Siouxie did! They are only following.......

  • @lewisner well, there was nude photos in the albums and poster in mag...she did..i have them..:)

  • @lewisner And that is why I respect her so much, she was a proper talent & the women in music today who do get their tits out will never compare to her because they have NO talent ;)

  • @jennifersabbathbowie Agreed and agreed and agreed!

  • @jennifersabbathbowie - you reckon Siouxsie never got her tits out too...?!?

  • @Malc2169 I heard she did on an album cover but it would have been tasteful probably she didn't do it in videos or performances like most females of today in music they use that to sell records she didn't. Madonna & her followers in music do everything in a slutty way. They have to do that to sell records because they have no talent.

  • @Malc2169 Well maybe just the one on the odd occasion

  • @Malc2169 fuck you

  • @Popisbetterthankfunk - Yeah, I bet you'd like to fuck me, you dirty fagg... go back to suckin mummy's your titty, fuckin retard.

  • @Malc2169 hahahahahaha god your such a scopey scumbag

  • @Popisbetterthankfunk - Aaah, an internet bad-ass... I gotta love you, cos everyone else thinks you're a cunt.

  • @Malc2169 scumface

  • Comment removed

  • @lewisner Are you joking? Yes she has photos with the tits out. And yes she use sex appeal to sell records. The thing is that she was a weird goth chick and a talented singer, not just a pop icon.

  • @ThePaulocastor I am not joking. She never tried to to pretty herself up to appeal to a mainstream audience. She had her style and you either liked it or hated it but I doubt she gave a flying fuck either way.

And she was NOT a Goth - she was Punk, all the way.

  • @lewisner yeah but she still gave me a boner god bless her punk heart

  • @MrBillcale Lolz same here. Boners weren't the main thing though. Would Cheryl Cole be able to make a living as a singer without her looks?

  • @lewisner Bullshit, all the leather and bright lipstick, if that is not sex appeal what is, seeing less is often more sexy as it creates sexual mistery. Trust me, there were many times she did not wear a bra and those little titties were bobbling about.

  • @lewisner but then would you want to see Siouxsie's tits these days?

  • @Kipling666 No more than she would want to see my moobs as I'm just a year year younger than her. But I would love to meet her in a bar and talk to to her. Thats my point - she is an icon.

  • @lewisner

    one of a kind singer

  • @killiscredo Yeah and she never sold out.

  • excellent, really a superb cover of this song.

  • its fucking awwwwwwwsome dudessssssssssssssss

  • Much better than the original.

  • @TheCopyHat FUCK OFF,sweet lady

  • The more I listen to great tracks from the past like this, the more I wish Rap music had the decency to bugger off, as it bores me. Siouxsie is a godess & always will be... anybody who say's otherwise is either an uninspiring oaf or a singular bollock!

  • Lol check out the massive Mohican to the right at 1.54 8-)

  • Excellent cover

  • I LOOOOOOOOOVE The Beatles, but I think this cover is great!!

  • oh man, what I would do to be there...

  • Every time I think she's lost the key, she's really taking the melody into a new shading of the original, all the while maintaining the intensity and the overall feel.

    And doing it live!

    It's fucking brilliant!

  • 1 of only a few good Beatles songs

  • posted 5 years ago, filmed what, 30 years ago, you're still getting passionate

I utterly love this song, did from the first hearing. I already knew and loved the beatles version from the whtie album

siouxsie wrote the book on modern rock singers as far as I'm concerned

second best song in the world ever, after monitor

  • Not bad...not the best cover but it was what it was.

  • hahahah, ma cos'è sta roba???? poveri beatles!

  • helter skelter with the banshee treatment - i love it

  • Anyone who doesn't get this needs to look up "Britney Spears microphone feed" and start working their way backward. Now.

  • @RubberBiscuit - Whaddya want fa nothin? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrubber bisCUIT! Lol sorry I had to! =)

  • helter skelter nananananananana!

  • I'll tell you, I have heard at least 10 Siouxsie boots & she doesn't sing off key. This was recorded at London's Royal Albert Hall, wh, is notorious for having the absolute worst acoustics of any concert hall on the planet. I suspect Siouxsie couldn't hear herself because she hits the same wrong note when she sings, "...'til I get to the bottom AND I SEE YOU AGAIN." It's the same wrong note. I think she couldn't hear anything from her monitors. But what was she gonna do?

  • ah, robert smith days. now i just gotta find thier collaberation aka The Glove!

  • i didn't recognize this as being a cover of the beatles until the last few seconds of the song.

  • Has Siouxsie and the Banshees covered any other Beatles' songs besides Helter Skelter and Dear Prudence? I grew up when the Beatles were still around, but I like both these covers.

  • God DAM if this woman isn't the best modern dancer extant.

  • I don't know what everyone's mad at. I love the Beatles and Siouxsie + Banshees, and I'll admit that the Beatles version of Helter Skelter is better, but Siouxsie + Banshees covered tons of songs, I mean Through the Looking Glass is an entire album of covers... Anyways they are both amazing artists, and Beatles got famous for lots of covers also, and Helter skelter is just one of those songs that pretty much every band covers, so deal with it.

  • Siouxsie can do what ever she fucking wants.

  • WOW!!! o.O

  • Pretty good, but they didn't quite steal it back. That didn't happen until 1988! (little rock humor there). BTW, if you think completely reinterpreting a song is LAME-O by default, then go ahead and bash Bob Dylan for all his live shows from 1974-present.

  • Siouxsie and the banshees+robert smith=heaven!

  • @nylon700 look for THE GLOVE, thats both of them together, great album! i only have it on tape! original though, wicked, i`m gonna search for them now

  • This is a great version!

  • John Lennon would have definitely appreciated this version ... ART ... ART ...ART

John was not a complicated soul ... and he still IS

  • How to trash a Beatles song, well i dont think the late great John Lennon wouldn`t of hated this version, they sang it the same way,not as good obviously.

  • Who did it first Siouxsie or the beatles? i like em both but i am Curious

  • @cassierox133 google it :P

  • @cassierox133

    Beatles.

  • yes rasta.

  • Notice Robert Smith of the Cure on guitar.

  • @JoesRamone Shame it wasn't McKay or McGeoch

  • @JoesRamone Hmmm ... it's kinda easy to forget how much Robert Smith shredded simply as a guitar player. Anyway - glad you posted, becase at first I was all, "Mike Score played with the Banshees!?"

  • OK if you hated this, go listen to U2's cover. It's probably your cup of tea. I'll stick with Siouxsie.

  • Lame

  • hey all i can say is if you don't like,no one is forcing anybody to sit here and listen. you are aware that you are behind the screens of your own computers in your own homes,no?

anyway, perhaps you should listen to the album version instead....it's well....less raw.

ps-all you beatles fanatics...seriously....even the goddamn bible has been interpreted and re-interpreted,i hardly think the banshees doing a version of this song is blasphemy. get over yourselves.

  • @scottjhnsn

Couldn't agree more mate - except one small thing - the Banshees don't just do a version of this song - they totally blow The Ruttles off the stage with this. A song like that needs some power and attitude - sadly lacking in the adult oriented rock middle of the road guff of the fab four on this occasion. Love The Beatles but not so much to blind me to when they are ( albeit occasionally ) outdone.

  • @scottjhnsn

I'm a Beatles fanatic and I fucking love Siouxsie. It was bands like Siouxsie & The Banshees who did their own versions of Beatles songs that brought me to my love of The Beatles.

So I agree with you 100% with your PS ;)

  • @scottjhnsn your funny

  • @scottjhnsn fuck it man punk only live or what

  • @scottjhnsn "anyway, perhaps you should listen to the album version instead....it's well....less raw."

Personally I like the rawness. If I wanted smooth I would listen to Celine Dion.

  • @lewisner well i personally adore this. she and the banshees just gave this tune a swift kick up the arse and it needed it,frankly. the lyrics has loads of energy and attitude but the original beatles recording kind of lacked those qualities. this is perfection, imo.

  • Hey WAIT! I'd happily force anyone to sit here and listen to this. I don't care what they think, and raw is OK with me.

  • @scottjhnsn Hell I grew up on the Beatles and I think this version is far superior. The rawness and power they're blasting out... and relentless bass line. It all just works. To me... the entire song builds to the line she cranks out at the 3:02 mark. One of the best uses of the F bomb ever. Hell, you can see her slam the microphone stand down at this point she's so into it. She and the band are on fire and the crowd is giving it right back. Must have been incredible in person.

  • thank you - this is " Magic " it realy is Magic

  • I love abrupt endings.

  • @Purerockband Yes ...okay maybe, but she is so damn good at this (making it her own) I also love Dear Prudence as well The Passenger.

All very unique songs on their own, but when she does it it takes on something else.

  • yuk.

  • Only Siouixxe can make this type of cover (in this style) and make it sound so glorious. There is something so damn rebellious and sexy about it.

  • Siouxsie 4Ever!

  • Dang, her voice is lower than Bieber's. Siouxsie > Miley Cyrus. There's no sluttyness in this video!

  • Whatever's awesome, Siouxsie did it first!

  • @frajill its a Beatles song

  • @frajill It's from 1968 the white album about 15-20 years before Siouxsie.

  • she butchured this song -_-

  • o_O TREMENDO NUEVAMENTE NO ME CANSO DE ESCUCHAR ESTA VERSION DEL TEMA

  • TREMENDO !!!!!! :o

  • A mi no me iportan las criticas y guerra baratas, me encantas los beatles y la vercion de esta mina es buena... y si les gusta discutir por boludeces no les gusta la música giles....

  • that is Robert Smith!!!!!

  • good

  • The Beatles would have LOVED her covers, and the surviving members probably did

  • @radiobeefan oh yeah, a lot of sense that makes coming from some douche with a user name "radiobeefan". I bet you're used to bullshit fed through your ears like Lady Gaga and all of that radio Disney garbage. You're trash, fag.

  • @pierreerichexum you mean pics of Justin Bieber, get with the times man, Jonas brothers was so last year

  • @ristoril ah ah ah, good one! yeah, whatever happen to them actually?

  • @pierreerichexum Don't put yourself down in the process of insulting another, it defeats the pupose. I'm baffeled that you can appreciate Siouxsie and the Banshees and still be a fan of acts like Gaga. To each his/her own i guess.

  • @SeanToal "oh yeah, a lot of sense that makes coming from some douche with a user name "radiobeefan" What does that mean genius? The name is a reference to a private joke among my friends, your not suposed to understand. How this makes me a douche i dont know. I dont like Lady Ga Ga either. And Radio Disney is not avalable here in Ireland. How this would qualify me as Trash and a fag is beyond me. I am not in fact gay. But so what if i was. i didnt think punk was a prejudiced medium,

  • @radiobeefan and to reiterate my earlier point This Cunt Cant Sing. She even admited it her self. This is evident by the new fangled process of "listning".

  • Siouxie just killed the Beatles from now on new young people differnt care wtf The Beatles were. Bowie was our new Beatles and madr better music. In England thos was a time of musical and sexultion revolutaion We're all Rock'n'' Roll suicides

  • @leonoel42 Who are you?
