i love love love love Australia sooooo much.... i plan to live there when i get older :D and i just have one question, why do you call the trunk of a car a boot and a pepper a capsicum ? XD
Welcome to the IBOS club. I think the most outrageous stereotypes such as "riding kangaroos to school" are mainly posted on the internet by trolls or, if referring to the "Crocodile Hunter" stereotype, spread by the media.
Ok this was good but why have I now started to speak like an Australian and don't really know how to stop speaking like you because I forgot my Yorkshire accent. :/
I'm American and come on live on a rock in the desert? Wearing cowboy hats and what not? Eating that thing you ate in the video? All those stereotypes are ridiculous lol. I like to learn the facts about things before I stereotype them. Great video btw :) xoxo.
Thee is no single Aussie accent. For example, Melbournians end to sound less rough and brash compared to those in Brisbane, Darwin and other Northern areas.
im an aussie and hae been living in Canada for 5 months and they have never herd of fari dinkham before , let alone jumper they have no idea what that is :L
Mate, you're ruining everything. We need to perpetuate these stereo types to make us more attractive to foreigners. We need to be able to hold our own against our main competitor for women.. the Irish. And if you don't say g'day I suggest you start, it's a genius word.
Your accent isn't heaps Aussie cause it's too precise and also people a jumper is a sweater or jersey or a jacket. Btw I hate all the stereo types about us
Lol I knew nobody said gday! And I'm American and I wish I had an accent. Well I am sure I do to you but i think our "accents" are lame:) lol ur funny I don't live on a big Rock and I don't ride a kagaroo to school
Who ever pays out Aussies can get fuked . Just coose we speak differently to you doesn't make us weird , this guy speaks normal English , I would have to say everyone speaks differently and has a different accent in australia because it is a very multicultural country and not everyone it the same ... I'd no this because I'm Australian
when i see things that feature australia, i prefer those that show the outback, where the kangaroos and crocodiles are all over the place. i like that image of australia. nevetheless i know that most australian humans don't live in those areas. i visited australia in the early 1980s, & i saw plenty of dead roos on the roads, but that was out in the countryside. the notion that the average australian sees roos every day would be like the notion that the average american sees deer every day.
Everytime an Australian person talks i feel like shooting myself in the head or chopping off my ear drums the accent is so flippin annoying it's like these people have a cold stupid aussie poops
howzit hanging mate, just wantin' to know if your taking the piss with this video or your just some cityslicker that actually thinks that stuff that you dribbled? and soft about the vegimite mate lol, just like my bro, he can't stand the taste of it, try it with m&m's dipped it, that's a crazy taste
im english and love the australian accent and australia as a country lol would love to live there when im older! I get annoyed when people try to imitate the 'british' accent making us sound posh, really gets on my nerves lol
I still use G'day a lot.. usually without the M8 at the end...yea I've never (only on that Paul Hogan ad) 'shimp on the barbie'... If someone ever says that trying to be Aussie... they need to be snapped out.
Im american and i didnt laugh at your accent i think its adorable! ;) Also whats cricket?? And im planning on going to Australia soon it looks beautiful im soo excited! :)
@IndicRace , not all aussies have convict ancestors, my mum's family's German and English who came to Australia in the late 1800's and my dads Aboriginal
love australian accent! I've been living in Brisbane and it's true... haven't seen anyone riding kangaroo, kkkkkk... though it'd be pretty cool..vegemite is uhuuu... some people get used to it but... nah... not my case.
@ValleyOfChrome2112 His accent is 'americanized'? Most people from Brisbane, Queensland for that matter have this kind of accent. In no way does it sound 'Americanized'.
@IndicRace i have read your amazingly racist anti-australian blog. its obvious to me that you know nothing about australian culture or the past of australia, including convicts (which are included in every one of your rediculous insults about our country) aboriginals and immigration.
The Australian accent is disappearing. In another couple decades it'll cease to exist altogether and Australians will simply speak with a standard American 'accent' with less of an accent than is found in the our own Southern states. That's where you're headed.I can hear the difference from the 70's until today.
well yes, the true blue fair dinkum ozzie accent is disintegrating.
not into american but into many different types of australian accent based on immagration. twenty years ago they said that you couldnt tell a location difference between australians from their accent.
but as you have just said people in southern states (really melbourne/me) speak with a slight received pronunciation (actually a brittish accent not american) and the more north you go the more stereotypical (allegedly).
@Jdentry I don't know.I spent a month in OZ back in the mid 1980's & back then I know immediately (1st syllable) that the Aussies had accents.Today watching & listening to young Australians on YouTube I literally have to listen for it and sometimes a person can speak several sentences before I'm certain.Perhaps it's my old American ears that are to blame, but I honestly don't think so.
oi i live in a city iin australia and i say gday and fair dinkum and ive eaten a prawn cooked on a barby :o... i say bloke to ! . i am not an outback bogan but i say these words and it is really quite common for ausies to say these words ... i got mates in brissy who greet me with gday. i dont think u can say it is rare fore ausies to use these words .. other than that this was kinda funny lol
@HxCSounds You think the Australian flag should change? Might as well change the language as well. After all , if we're no longer tied with England why speak their language?

I thought Texas was stereotyped with the checkered button-down shirt and cowboy hat? Never heard of that being referenced to Australians
eaglesgogirl 11 months ago
@eaglesgogirl Really? Ya know, because usually everyone thinks that we live in the outback as some sort of cowboys, and riding horses around the desert?
Holy Hannah, that didn't even make sense! I need to take more English classes! :D

@StargateUnending What do you mean...did you not understand me? Do you not speak English as a 1st language or 2nd (it's my second language)?
eaglesgogirl 10 months ago
@eaglesgogirl No, I meant that the sentence that I wrote didn't make sense ;)

lol, your accent kinda sounds Brittish. That's what happens when we try to talk "properly" I guess.
DW, Americans have my worse stereotypes, like we're fit and sporty, and they watch TV and eat McDonalds all the time. Right? xD

@DollFace12067
...we don't eat McDonald's all the time... That's unhealthy.......
You're making a generalization about millions of people you don't know.....including me :( it makes me sad..
