This is a very helpful video. Great presentation and information. It's great to actually see the speakers next to a real person for a sense of their actual size. Thank you.
@mrdiaz0108 There are receivers which output too much power for these speakers, but the Sony STR-K502P does not output too much power so it will work.
@mrdiaz0108 If by “Bose” you mean the Acoustimass 5.1 systems, I wouldn’t say the Energy speakers are quite as good but at less than half the cost, they offer excellent performance for the money. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@mrdiaz0108 Absolutely. Assuming your will be powering them with a quality home theater receiver/amplifier, these speakers will offer excellent performance for almost any source. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
What kind of receiver will I need to power these? I have a Sony 5.1 receiver. Will that work? Also can I use the same wires so i don't have to rewire everything.
@arnoldgd84 If your Sony receiver is a standard 5.1 model and did not come packaged with proprietary speakers/cables, it will likely work very well with the Energy Take Classic speaker system. Feel free to call us directly to be sure the products will be a good match: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@crutchfieldtv Yea i guess it wont work. My Sony is one of those that came with speakers. What kind of receiver will I need. Whats the most affordable but a good one.
@arnoldgd84 We have quite a few receiver models in all different price ranges that can do the job. You'll want to consider other features like HDMI switching, surround decoders, auto calibration, etc. Please call us directly for a personalized recommendation: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
Ordered these a couple days ago from Crutchfield. Expecting delivery on Tuesday! Psyched to get them setup. I do wish that Crutchfield sold the satellites extra so I could take this to a 7.1 system.
I dont think take classic is available anymore...only the RC micro. I bought my set last year for like 600 bux (even cheaper now...at like 300-400).
Probably the best quick solution for most any surround sound needs. If you have a larger size room, it may sound a bit thin, but like i said, for most situations its the best bang for your buck.
I'll probably move these up though to my bedroom...and buy some Def tech speakers to replace em in a year or two...
yes, this home theater system would be for my pc. I use a LG 23 inch monitor. Right now i use an amplifier and a dac for my Sennhieser HD600 headphones. My Dac also has digital coax and toslink connections in the backside of it. But I'm clueless on how receivers work because i never used them before.
@BIGDADDYF50 the easiest (and cheapest) would just to buy that logitech system, since you can just plug it into your comp.
but ya you would need a reciever if you wanted this speaker system....the good thing is though the sound quality would be pretty nice. Recievers range in price...but i like to stick to low and mid range. Denon has a nice entry range , 5.1 (another 200 bucks). I guess it comes down to what do use your computer for? pretty much everything?
Yeah, you pretty much nailed it, I use my computer for pc gaming, music, watching movies, streaming tv, just about everything and my living room is usually occupied by my parents/brothers so there's no point in going for a living room set-up since I pretty much do everything on my LG 23 inch 1080p monitor
I heard about Onkyo receivers in the past, are they still well regarded? I thought of that logitech, but i would like something that's real 5.1
@BIGDADDYF50 heres another idea.....check out the Logitech Z-5500 .... its about 300...but you wouldnt need an additional reciever, and the sound is pretty good. my roomate had that back in grad school....and he used his comp mainly for watching movies
which is better?cnet says Take Classic ,but how much difference in sound quality?i cant decide,i want to buy take classic, but i like RC micro piyano black finished, plz help me crutchfieldtv..and last, take classic available in my city.thanks, and plz help me, iam waiting
Hey man, there really is only one choice any more. The Take Classic is no longer available. And the price of the RC Micro has been drastically reduced. So go for the RC Micro, it's an awesome system.
@crutchfieldtv I am wanting to know witch system is a better by and with will produce better sound with dts true HD reciever? I know both are 8 oms and as is my reciever. Please help!!!
The RC Micro system has a more powerful subwoofer, and smaller speakers. And better yet, it's still available. The Take Classic system is no longer available.
Even when they were both available, the RC Micro was a big time step up from the Take Classic. And to be able to purchase the RC Micro at such a discount, it's pretty unbeatable. Check it out at Crutchfield.
i was thinking about getting the Energy 5.1 Take Classic System, and i was just wondering does the system come with all the wires to connect it to me AVR
These systems do not come with the wires to hook them up. You'll need speaker wire for all 5 surround speakers and a sub cable for the powered subwoofer.
We have all this stuff at Crutchfield.
It should also be noted that the RC Micro is the only Energy speakers system we currently carry.
Energy speakers do not sound like Klipsch speakers. Klipsch uses a horn tweeter for a very efficient, clear upper end. The energy speakers use 1/2" Hyperbolic™ aluminum-dome tweeters. A very different sound from Klipsch.
But, they are certainly made with the same level of love and care that Klipsch speakers are. In other words, they are put together well.
I've never heard of the Bic America f12, so i can't recommend it. We've got a great article on the learn section of the Crutchfield website that will help you determine the best sub for your room, listening preferences, speakers, etc.
It's called "Choosing Speakers for Home Theater." I'd link you to it here, but YT blocks links in comments. A google search will find it.

i have a small to medium'ish type bedroom. My computer desk is 12 feet away from my back wall(to mount the rear satellites)
I don't know if i should get something a little cheaper like the logitech x-540 because these seem for living room purpose.

Does the company Klipsch really make Energy audio?
bigmackburger 2 years ago
Hi bigmackburger,
Energy is A Klipsch Group Company.
This doesn't mean that Klipsch "makes" Energy speakers, it just means that Klipsch owns the Energy speaker company.
Hope that helps,

Anyone know the best sub to match with these take classic 5????
NewPSCity 2 years ago
NewPSCity,
There are some matching subs from Energy, such as the Energy ESWC8 8" 60-watt Powered Subwoofer and the Energy ESWV10 10" 300W Powered Subwoofer.
Both are good choices for the speakers, now you have to decide how much bass you want. Consider your listening preferences, room size, etc.

These come with a sub 5.1 The .1 is the sub!
5 speakers 4 satellites+center=5 + the sub .1
5.1 system
Hope that clears it up.
They also sold an older system called the Take 5 which had no sub included.
