I played this years ago but missed that one line from Ganondorf. "If there is anything you desire then I shall desire it too." Wow, that possibly explains the end sequence when Zant is watching Ganondorf and snaps his own neck. Ganondorf then dies. I suppose Zant desired death and therefore made Ganondorf "desire" it as well? anyhoo, that's just my opinion...going back to SS Hero mode!!

i think zant works perfectly, when he has his Helmet up he's all cold and driven (and has a bit of a "vader" thing going), but beneath that lies a deeply disturbed individual. Twilight Princess is definitely one of the finest games of this current console generation, and one of the best zelda games.

If the theory that Ganondorf and Zant had a spiritual connection and could ressurrect one another at will is correct, then in this scene depicting Zant breaking his own neck, he is rejecting Ganondorf and leaving the fucker for death...finally. Although his intentions may not have been for Midna and Link, he did somewhat redeem himself by finally bringing the Dark Lord to death.

What the crap is everyone talking about?? This cut scene was perfect for this game because it shows how freaking insane he is. The other cut scenes where he seemed all cool and collected was just because he was completely arrogant and believed so much in Ganon that he thought he was actually fit to be King, but Ganon really just tricked him. When Zant finally felt actually threatened, his true side came out - a completely insane, delusional, gullible psycho. It makes me almost feel bad for him.

I like what they did to Zant, although I feel it was unfortunate to see such a built up bad-ass character be thrown away like this it was for a reason.

For me at this point in the game it was made clear to me that Zant was not the real threat, I felt a sense of joy being able to realize without a doubt that Ganondorf was the real enemy. Was an epic twist in story.

I get your point but don't agree with You. What made me fear Zant in the first place was his lack of emotions. No matter what Midna and Link did he always remained calm and arrogant. That made him scary as hell and I questioned how I'd be able to beat such a powerful villain. At this point, however, when he lost his mind all my fear of him dissapeared. He no longer seemed untouchable. He turned into a lunatic with low self esteem which wasn't scary at all.

I think this was used to show us a villain who was so deep in despair from having things not go his way that he finally snapped and became a raging psychopath. People seem to think he was like this all along, but I do not believe so. I believe he truly was the cold bastard we saw at first, but he let his despair and hatred build up inside until he was forced to let it all out in a final fight of fury (lol alliterations).

Zant was broken, and while being broken he was easily attracted to Ganon and his ploys, hell, ANYTHING to fix the problem for himself. And for a time, it seemed everything was going smoothly for him until Link and Midna started meddling with his plans, and it was ripped away from him again.

He just walked in and took over: no convoluted plan, no first attempt to stop him beforehand, he just waltzed in and fucked up Hyrule--"Surrender or die." No BS in between. The insanity itself isn't bad; I think the real problem is Zant just ended up being another tool of Ganondorf's, just like Veran and Onox from the Oracle games.
