I wish I saw this video before I went to Kyoto in 2004. The bus driver didn't speak English and I didn' speak enough Japanese. I just threw about 500 yen into the top slot and the bus driver got a little flustered... I wasn't until I saw this video that it all made sense... Live and learn I guess.
richard how about japanese bicycle? how much it cost and do they have a plate number or a registration?how much and where can i get a registration number for a bicycle? domo arigato!
i saw lately a video of a cellphone in japan is used like an ATM card, that you can use when shopping... is a cellphone like those also can used in the bus when paying a fare.??? or is ATM card card be use in a bus?
Never been on one of those buses before. Got the limosine bus to shinjuku from narita airport which i paid upfront for 3000yen, and at uni all the buses in the area (Mitaka, Musashino, Kichijoji etc) cost 210yen regardless of where you get on or off and you pay up front, though you can use a suica or pasmo to pay rather than hunting for loose change. So there are different ways of paying for different bus companies maybe?
I didn't notice the money thing on top of the bus... I usually just ask the bus driver "How much?" & he just tells me. But thats great help ! Thanks ! (^-^)

Way too complicated system. In my country we have a flat fee. We pay as we get onboard and off we go. So simple even I can use it.

Wait!- What if you forgot your wallet, but didn't realize it until you've reached your destination? Would you be arrested, or something?
chuchummm 2 years ago 2
All Japanese bus drivers are samurai trained and carry "untenshi" katakana at their sides.
Those white gloves are there for a reason you know.
Forced decapitation for said offence I'm afraid.

It's usually around 100 yen to the dollar, so around $1.40 or maybe a little less with the rates today.
