Thank you for your kind words concerning the memorial service. However, I thought I should let you, or anyone else interested in this, that in every place I know of you must have received the 3rd degree (Master Mason) in order to receive the memorial service. On the other hand, I've just been told recently, that exceptions may be made for Masons of the 1st or 2nd degree. In most cases, if the widow or next of kin requests it, a memorial service will be performed.

@WidowsSon6009AL I would imagine that it varies from one Grand Lodge jurisdiction to another.
