@YourBoyIsaiah When the liquid nitrogen touches your skin it immediately boils and a protective layer of nitrogen steam is formed between the liquid and your skin. Try pouring a little water on a hot plate, you'll see the drops dancing around on a layer of steam. That's the same effect.

Bottomline, you cannot touch the liquid directly as there's always a layer of (room temp) steam between your skin and the liquid. Only if you wait to long your hands will start to freeze.

@pizzamom555 dry ice and liquid nitrogen are not the same at all dry ice is the solid ( frozen) form of CO ( carbon monoxide) which doesnt even have a liquid state. liquid nitrogen is as its name implies the liquid form of Nitrogen and is very different then dry ice.
