  • This is the closest movie adaption ive seen, i love the score for this movie.

  • Oldman looks like depp at 2:09

  • Hey!!... i`m reading the book T__T

  • If we`re living in remake times, whay hasn`t any director checked this one out? i mean, judging by what some actors inthis version did to the book, any director with 2 neurons could do a better job... and the best part would be: NO KEANU REEVES!!

  • @galeno07 Couldn't agree more!

  • Dracula isn't "sexy" or a symbol of sexuality, at least not blatantly. Sure the teeth penetrating the skin and there is a liquid produced; that's indicative of sex, but not the outright intercourse which occurs in these movies.

  • I recorded it of HBO back when the movie was out (I was 15!). I read somewhere that the 1st DVD release includes it, but none of the Amazon specs says it's on there. I'd be happy to pay a few bucks for the old dvd to have a good copy of this. Does anyone know which edition includes it?

  • @McEMAG

This documentary indeed figures on the first DVD edition from 1999.

  • is this documentary on the dvd release of the film? If not, where is it from?

  • you know something??the legend of dracula is bullshit.i am from romania and all of this is only stories.vlad tepes was the transilvania leader and a man with a fear of Good.i don't know why you people turn him into a monster!!

  • @ketoize

Really? What Vlad actually did is only a million times worse then what the fictional Dracula does :|

  • @ketoize Vlad Tepes was actually a pretty murderous leader, his achievements notwithstanding. If I had a choice between being killed by the real-life Vlad and the fictional Dracula, I think I'd take the fictional character.

  • steal from the best

  • Gary Oldman looks kinda like Johnny Depp at 2:10

  • classic

  • BBC's Dracula in 1977 is the most faithful to the book.

  • Holy shit. Anthony Hopkins playing the piano. XD

  • Coppola has some weird ideas slooshing around in his head: Van Helsing is as EVIL as Dracula??

  • @allaboutdmagic Can't you remember his sadistic quotes from the movie? lol - "No no I just want to cut off her head and take her heart"- "You can give her all your blood? Well, thank you"

well I'm sure he meant that Van Halsing and Dracula give same meaning for blood's price..

  • @jobikr yah yah- And then she found peace. dad da dee da dah dahhh.

  • @jobikr Yes, that's more playful cruel sense of humour which makes him MORE likeable than a character like Jonathan Harker, who's a total wet fish. Van Helsing just seems oblivious to a lot of social niceties.

  • fuck this bullshit. Draculea was a Christian Hero.

  • @Varangian1915 Yeah, you're right but you know people love bringing "new life" to some old stuff as it's said at the begining of this very video. I must say they did a good job, and didn't destroy the beauty of the Dracula myth

  • Winona Ryder:before her shoplifting days!

  • I can honestly say I DISLIKE Keanu Reeves...the rest of the cast I thought was pretty great though, and I love the movie...but honestly...KEANU REEVES? Terrible casting choice, in my opinion anyway.

  • This movie would have been perfect were it not for the HORRENDOUS casting choice of Keanu Reeves. He ruins an otherwise amazing film.

  • @JoshSitar I heard that even Francis Ford Coppola was kinda not too enthusiastic about casting Keanu as Jonathan but he wanted a character that the girls would scream and go after, someone young so he casted Keanu

  • @JoshSitar Just be happy they didn't cast him as Dracula!

  • This is why you don't see shows like Mega Movie Magic anymore. If you did all episodes would be like this: Green-screen and computer.

  • I really liked it when I saw it in the cinema, so was surprised years later to find out it isn't well-thought of.

Also, why is it that in almost every interview Anthony Hopkins comes across as a real dick?

  • i like how they say that no one ever reads the book and that they were trying to be true to this original masterpiece...but it is NOTHING like Bram Stoker's book. Mina and Dracula are never in love in the book. I love the movie. I love the book more. But why did they name it "Bram Stoker's Dracula" when the plot is COMPLETELY changed? I can understand cosmetic changes and still putting the author's name into the title (like they did in "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet"), but not this..

  • This version of Dracula is to Dracula as Trish Stratus is to pro wrestiing: way overrated and overpushed.

  • wow :D hehe keanu and the 3 brides are my favorite :D

  • awesome movie !!! You all make a goood Job :D But my favorite of this movie is keanu and the 3 brides :D haha

  • "There's something weird about being bit in the neck." Naw, Keanu. You think?

  • Keanu Reeves is a true moron.

  • 3:48 dracula looks lie abram lincon.

  • Thank you Mr Coppola, it's a truly wonderful film. Synchronicity for me tonight watching this vid. to hear you speak of "our blood tie to creation...." or "anyone can renounce the creator..." Synchronistic in that I've been struggling with some personal beliefs lately. Of course, in the end...love conquers all.

    Thank you!

  • @mathaius883

    Exactly

  • Mathaius883

    Thats kinda what I thought

  • big mistake choosing Keanu Reeves.

  • i still watch this movie, its so good

  • LOOKIT KEANU REAVES BAAAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA

Great film tho, really. Nice to see whats behind it too.

  • I love all Dracula films.... but this one is my favorite, and the best.

Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman are amazing actors, my favorite.

  • That Blacula is one bad mother fucker.

  • lucy kicks ass, I wanna look that good when I am dead!!!

  • they made bram stokers dracula a fucking sex symbol wtf

  • @devilsown18 what hell you dracula was

  • @devilsown18 I don't think they were trying to make him a sex symbol, but they wanted him to be more of a sensitive tragic character who wasn't just pure evil. However they do try to make vampires more sexual because vampires are supposed to be seductive lol

  • I like Bram's Stroker's Dracula despite it's flaws, I like the utilizations of art of the time period partically the Pre-Raphelite, Art Nouveau, and Symbolist movements. Probably to disingush it from other vampire movies from around the same time like Lost Boys and the original Buffy!

  • .I love Gary Oldman.

  • They are all talking about Bram Stoker's "Dracula's" erotism, but it isn't there if you read a book.

  • @redfoxonstilts

Exactly whats with all these love stories and erotically charged vampires these days. Dracula is a cold blooded evil devil. This shouldn't be called 'Bram Stokers Dracula', did these people actually read the book.

  • Sigh...I love Gary Oldman. I saw this movie when I was far too young to have watched it and just fell in love with Gary's characterisation of Dracula. so dark, so handsome, so dangerous.

  • @sharona1981 i watched as a kid too and was scared shitless. then i forgot about the film for years and now found it again on video. i bought the dvd version and am now again completely obsessed of it! there's so many things that i haven't noticed before and ofcourse = GARY OLDMAN IS HOT

  • love the movie, but they should have chosen a more intellectual type to play John Harker.

It just doesnt make any sense to me...

    Gary Oldman was gold though!!

  • this was a great movie, una de las mejores

  • Keanu Reeves is so fucking stupid wow.

  • @bigboss25262 Hehe, he almost fucked up this movie, why in the hell he even had one scene in this great movie baffles me.

Why in the hell did Francis give him this part? He was compltely out of his league.

  • @bigboss25262 well he's stupidly HOT...

  • @bigboss25262 more like a stupid beach bum .... LOL

  • @bigboss25262 But you know whats great? He admits that he is dumb as shit.

  • @bigboss25262 Someone must've been brainwashed by Bill & Ted to cast him, sad choice!

  • Right on. Yeah it is a great doc. Apparently it is available on the original DVD release. I really don't understand why they don't always port these onto the Bluray.

  • its so anoying I had to keep my original jsut for this briliant documentary and the lovely original artwork - hate the new DVD cover grrrr

  • @McEMAG Not sure if it's on the DVD. I've got the DVD, so I can check.

  • @McEMAG A two disc special edition DVD and Bluray version of Dracula is now out with special features and I believe this documentary is included in it. (yay!)

  • @McEMAG is this for certain???????

  • @McEMAG

  • thanks for uppin this McEMAG, great documentary on a great film.

Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing is awesome!

  • That's deep and an innovative idea- having all the actors actually read the source material- the book. And outloud and together at that

    GENIUS!

And it shows- this movie is a masterpiece

  • Thanks for uploading by the way - this is so interesting!

  • I don't know what Anthony Hopkins said was really sexual yet because I've just watched the first 90 seconds so far, but the neck biting thing does seem pretty sexual and intimate.

The neck is such a vulnerable part, and such a common place to be kissed, etc during sex.

  • @KaraBear567

Vampires should be feeding and sucking your blood not kissing it or anything sexual. Don't relate vampires with intimacy and sexuality please, if you want to see that go watch Twilight with their queer vampires and tight abs.

  • @sarahrulez4lyf vampires have always been very sexual, sensual and intimate. seduction has always been the name of their game, which involves kissing and eroticsm. all twilight did was fag that whole concept up. twilight is what you get when you cross backstreet boys and sesame street with vampires

  • @Deanobucko917 I agree. People keep complaining that Draculas/vampires are not evil enough, not badass enough, that there shouldn't be attraction etc...but that's wrong, this one IS scary and twisted, but clasical vampires do use charm and seduction, mystery, to lure their prey.. besides that, there's always the element of being attracted to something or someone dangerous, unknown, mystical, dark. it's in human nature. And people don't you dare to compare Bram Stoker's Dracula to Twilight!

  • nossa eu gostaria de ver esse filme do dracula que estar em preto e branco .. me parece otimo......
